WEATHERWISE—Poggy mornings, pleasant days characterized last week’s Anaheim weather picture.
NEWSWISE — California’s 40th Division has gone to war! Gen. Matthew B. Ridgway’s headquarters announced the arrival of the former National Guard division on the Korean fighting front. While it is believed that Anaheim’s Own—Company K—is at the front, no official word to that effect has been released.
Flight operations at the Orange county airport will begin April 1, Edmund Converse, president of the Bonansa Air Lines, stated on an inspection tour of the field Saturday. Jules W. Market, 78, former Santa Ana contractor and a member of the Orange county Planning Commission for 18 years until his retirement in 1949, died at his home last Friday.

NEWARK, N.J. (P) — A bus driver—set to inherit $90,000—says he’ll keep his job because “it gets into your blood—like wanting to fly.”
The bequest comes to Stuart Holzman on his 25th birthday, next Oct. 24. His main interest since he was five years old, he says, has been driving a bus.
“I like people and it’s interesting work,” he declared.
Holzman said he intends to use the money to set up a trust fund for his three-month-old son, Johnny. Then, he added, he might go into partnership with his boss and just keep on driving buses.
He inherits the money from the estate of his grandfather—A Newark wholesale butcher.

78, former Santa Ana contractor and a member of the Orange county Planning Commission for 18 years until his retirement in 1949, died at his home last Friday.
The Winckler and Smith Citrus Products Co., filed suit against the California Fruit Growers exchange for $2,400,000 damages under anti-trust laws.
Supervisors plan an extensive flood-control program following request from Anaheim, Laguna, Fullerton, Costa Mesa and Santa Ana.
Marine flier, Lt. William Poe of Laguna Beach was rescued after spending 28 hours in freezing cold and deep snow in the High Sierras by a 12-man rescue team from the Marine cold-weather training station.
EIGHTH—Robert L. Reed, a 25-year-old Leatherneck, died of injuries sustained when hit by a car driven by Frank Berry of La Habra. The Marine apparently stepped onto 101 highway from between parked cars. Bernard Dirksen, 55, of Whittler, lost his life in a broadside smashup at an intersection west of Midway City. Five persons were injured.
COURTOPIX—The Fourth District Court of Appeals ruled that George Chuki, attorney for Henry Ford McCracken, convicted murderer of Patricia Hull, was not guilty of willful disobedience of Judge Robert Gardner's orders, thus setting aside the five-day contempt jail sentence. Thirteen attorneys, headed by Otto Jacobs, appealed the judge' ruling.
Gerald Harvey Boncbrake, 21, pleaded not guilty to the charge that he shot and killed Richard Shaw after an all-night party in Laguna Dec. 23. His trial has been set for March 24.
A suit to enjoin the collection of a dollar-a-month on Newport Beach city water bills for park purposes was filed by Fred J. Stephens. The outcome of this court action is being watched as a number of cities are using the water-bill method to collect various assess-
TRANSITION — Four marriage licenses; two death certificates and seven birth notices marked the week statistically. John Gulick and Marjorie Jane Royer; Albert Guerrero and Dolores Mejia; William Cramer and Carole Jane Furman; and Gerald Poole and Leta Montgomery were at the marriage license bureau. Gharles H. Conliff, an Anaheimmer for 40 years, died at 86 following a prolonged illness. Arthur L. Renner, 60 a native Anaheimer, died in Long Beach unexpectedly. Donald Bigler, Douglas Robertson; Richard Terrones and George Martinez became papas of boys; while Louis Gallo, Ernest Molina and Robert Richards welcomed daughters to their respective households.
