Cecil King Due To Direct Probe Of State Scandals SAN FRANCISCO (UP) — Rep. Cecil King (D-Calif) is due here tonight to direct a Congressional probe of Internal Revenue Bureau scandals in Northern California. King's house subcommittee will open public hearings Monday. Cecil King (D-Calif) is due here tonight to direct a Congressional probe of Internal Revenue Bureau scandals in Northern California. King's house subcommittee will open public hearings Monday. Yesterday the 1952 federal grand jury picked up the Internal Revenue Bureau investigation where its precedent quit. First the jurors called in Joe Cannon, a Fresno gambling figure whose tax troubles have come up in earlier inquiries. Then they questioned James J. Donnelly, a San Francisco public accountant under contempt sentence for refusing to produce records subpoenaed by the previous grand jury. Two Treasury department intelligence agents also testified. Cannon's name was mentioned a year ago in charges which resulted in the firing of Ernest M. Schino as chief field deputy of the Internal Revenue Bureau here.
