For Results and Quick Anaheim Gazetteer by JOHN S. NEUBAUER A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance.—Prov. 15:13. ANAHEIM ANECDOTES — A year has come and a year has gone since UN forces punched a hole into the red lines in Korea... And Alpine avalanches claimed 117 lives... Clarence Sackett left an estate of $30,000 and a five-acre grove... Willard Bath was slugged and robbed... Melbourne Gauer, YMCA building chairman, made plans to construct a $50,000 Anaheim 'Y' Building on South Citron... Oscar Schultz enlarged his machine shop... H. E. Remi-lard got a permit to build a $15,000 residence... Dave Collins, Howard Hall and Jim Morris laid the foundation for a new Anaheim service club—The Y Men's club... Robert Wallace had a little tough luck. His jeep was hit while he was making his rural route deliveries... Edgar Gabau won his Edison Company 25-year service pin... Death took Marvin Kegler at Bakersfield. He lived in Anaheim from 1903 to 1950 and was Mrs. R. Joe Quast's brother... Wife Bombed Out With No Humor SAN RAFAEL (UP) — She tied the little Fourth of July torpedo to the toilet seat. The colonel sat down and ... BOOM! "Very, very funny, a joke, horse play, you might say," Mrs. Dorothy Dennis, 50, told a cross examiner at her separate maintenance action yesterday against Col. Chester I. Dennis, 55. One night, later on, the colonel wound up a timing mechanism from a land mine, tossed it under the bed and yelled "bomb," the colonel's wife testified. Clad in a nightgown, she raced out into the garden while her husband leaned out a window and, she said, chided: "Yaw, yaw, you got no sense of humor. Superior Judge Jordan Martin-elli decided to hear more episodes in the life of the colonel and his lady before reaching a decision. Clyde Lillibridge Dies at Age 54 Clyde W. Lillibridge, 54, a native son born in Corona and residing in Anaheim for 30 years, died early yesterday morning at the Veterans Administration hospital in Long Beach after a prolonged illness. The family home is at 549 S. Janss st. He is survived by his wife. Margaret Hastey Dies in Hospital Mrs. Margaret B. Hastey died at the Anaheim Community hospital yesterday. She was born in Watseka, Ill., but has lived in Anaheim for over 32 years at 307 W Chartres st. Surviving are one daughter Mrs. H. D. Ackerman of Anaheim one granddaughter Mrs. Elde Haack of Anaheim, two sisters Miss Grace Burgess of Florida and Mrs. L. N. Annadown of Kansas and three grandchildren. She was a member of St. Michaela's church, a past matron of the Eastern Star of Anaheim, a member of the White Shrine and Ebel clubs. Funeral services will be conducted by Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Kimball Saville of Fliating. Entombment will be held in the Melrose Abbey mausoleum with the Eastern Star conducting the service. Friends may call at the Backs Campbell and Kaulbars chapel Wednesday evening. NEW YORK (UP)—A committee to stop union jurisdictional disputes here has been set up by the American Federation of Labor and the Congress of Industrial Organizations. Howard Hahn and Jim Morris land the foundation for a new Anaheim service club—The Y Men's club... Mrs. Elizabeth Wahlberg, the farm advisor's mother, died in the 91st year of her life... Sgt. Antonio Villea was awarded the silver star posthumously for heroism in Korea. His wife, Mary Hurtado Villea, and two sons live in Anaheim... That was the news you read about a year ago tonight. Remember? VIGNETTE—Al Foster, the man who founded the sand and gravel concern bearing his name, retired a few years ago and built himself a $55,000 exclusive hill-top hacienda in Fullerton. Al has a funny bone. So, as a decorative feature of his estate, he built one of those old-fashioned Chic Sale specialties in his back yard just to lend atmosphere. Last week's deluge undermined a bank. Al saw his outhouse slide down the hill, so he called his brother—Kenny Foster who is now running the business with Brother Ed Foster. The brothers went to work and anchored the Chic Sale to a spare pillar. AUTOS—Alfred R. Torres, a 28-year-old El Modena man, became a statistic when his car ran off the road, jumped a curb, uprooted a tree and landed against another. Torres, a native Anaheimer, apparently yielded to a Sunday road hog, who, in passing another machine, forced him off the road. The Gazetteer would like to extend his heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Helen, and his brothers, Joe, Herman and Lupe Torres and his sister, Mrs. Manuel Correa who reside in Anaheim. Janes st. He is survived by his wife, Gladys M. Lillibridge; two daughters, Mrs. William Dodge of Garden Grove and Mrs. Thomas Sanford of Corona del Mar; father Charles E. Lillibridge of Corona; three brothers, Percy Lillibridge of Glendale, Lynn Charles Lillibridge and Jesse Lillibridge, both of Corona; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Bandy of Balboa and six grandchildren. Private funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 o'clock at the graveside in Sunnyslope cemetery in Corona, Hilgenfeld mortuary in charge of arrangements. Tax Increase Makes New Liquor Return Form Necessary Because of an increase in tax rates, wholesale and retail liquor dealers are now required to file a special return Form 17B with the Collector of Internal Revenue, covering this extra tax due on floor stocks which were on hand on Nov. 1, when the new rates became effective. Robert A. Riddell, Collector of Internal Revenue, recently mailed copies of this return to all wholesale and retail liquor dealers in his district: Remittances for this tax must be in the hands of the collector on or before Feb. 1. The tax notices were mailed a few days before the regular release date to allow ample time for receipt by liquor dealers throughout Southern California. The collector states that the reference in the notice to payment within ten days from date is not applicable to the Liquor Floor Stock tax shown thereon. Under the provisions of the Revenue Act... Torres, a native Anaheim, apparently yielded to a Sunday road-hog, who, in passing another machine, forced him off the road. The Gazetteer would like to extend his heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Helen, and his brothers, Joe, Herman, and Lupe Torres and his sister, Mrs. Manuel Correa who reside in Anaheim. CAUTION — Motorists — and parents, too—should exercise a little bit more caution where youngsters and bicycles are concerned. Over the week-end, an Anaheim youth, Mark Wlehardt, 9, received pavement burns when he rode his bicycle out of an alley directly into the path of an oncoming car. Fortunately, the lad was not seriously hurt. Motorists should be on constant alert whenever they are driving where youngsters are likely to be. Parents should caution their offspring that danger lurks wherever automobiles are. Some kids are more reckless of bicycles than a lot of "hot-rodders." NOTES—Dalton Atherton, the radio ham, made it possible for Mrs. Harold Elzig of Tustin to talk to her husband, Lt. Elzig, in Weisbaden; Germany, on his rig. "Ostrich" can sometimes be seen cruising around town with his radio-equipt car . . . Incidentally, George Ravenkamp isn't a hot-rod specialist, but his special red pick-up is a deluxe job custom-built for the rigors of the desert . . . Speaking of cars, Walt Daniels often wonders what became of that Rolls-Royce that was parked in the weed patch across from La Palma park begging for a buyer . . . Raymond Smith, the Baxtter 1. The tax notices were mailed a few days before the regular release date to allow ample time for receipt by liquor dealers throughout Southern California. The collector states that the reference in the notice to payment within ten days from date is not applicable to the Liquor Floor Stock tax shown thereon. Under the provisions of the Revenue Act of 1951, this tax may be paid at any time on or before Feb. 1. Young Republicans Elect Officers Executive committee of Young Republicans of Orange county recently elected new officers. Spencer Browning of Santa Ana was elected chairman to replace Robert S. Barnes of Newport Beach, who was made chairman recently of the Orange County Republican Central committee. Vice-chairman from the 74th Assembly district is Carl Loeper of Santa Ana; from the 75th Assembly district, Pat Kraemer of Placentia; secretary is Jean Perelli-Minetti of Newport Beach and Cy Painter of Laguna Beach was re-elected to the office of treasurer. A regular airlift for livestock is now in operation from Kangaroo Island to Alelaide, Australia, a run of 90 air miles. st. cattle baron, is looking for a place to pasture his stock. They stood belly-deep in the muddy flood waters but came out of it all right. NITECCAPSULE—Isn't it strange that folks who have the least to talk about, talk most? Steele Petroleum's Anaheim Industrial No. 1 reached a spot below the 2400 foot mark today—200 feet deeper than the drillers reached yesterday. Steele officials say leasing of sub-surface mineral rights on properties in Anaheim is continuing at a rapid pace. Margaret Hastey in Hospital Margaret B. Hastey died Anaheim Community hosesterday. She was born in a, Ill., but has lived in Anabor over 52 years at 307 W. s st. Viving are one daughter, D.
