RIVER STAY FROM MY DOOR—Only it didn't. A regular river was swirling around houses on Raymond ave., above North st. last night and today. Here is the lake surrounding the P. J. Borzell home, 7552 Raymond ave. Elsewhere is a picture showing this same water on the west side of Raymond as it races toward Anaheim. Citrus growers in the area say the silt deposits of the water could be harmful to orange trees, and that orange ranchers will have to get into the groves soon to clean them up.

PLUMBER DEOWNED OUT—Turning the traditional predicament of home-owners about in the usual "plumber" story, Starmer's Plumbing shop, in distance above, probably had plenty of water in its basement from the looks of things.
Fosters' ice cream shop at extreme left also was having trouble with high water as was almost every store on the east side of N. Los Angeles st. just south of North st.—(Gazette photo by Kreidt)

thousands of acre feet of water worth $10 per foot.
Nevertheless, much water was percolating underground to replenish fading water levels and agricultural lands and grazing lands were being greatly benefited by the soaking. County agricultural Commissioner B. W. Tubbs reported, however, that some lettuce and strawberry crops were either flooded or covered with silt, shed by the storm.

“If foot-and-mouth disease, rinderpest, fowl pest of foreign types of Newcastle disease should be allowed to develop undetected, they could menace our livestock industry from coast to coast and from border to border within weeks,” the department said in an annual report of its bureau of animal industry.
“We must be prepared to detect and eradicate these and any other foreign diseases that might appear anywhere in the country.
