A REAL RIVER—Santa Ana river, shown above from the west end of Anaheim-Olive bridge and looking northeast, was a full-fledged stream again yesterday for the first time in years.
Flood control officials estimated it was running at 5000 second feet at the Fifth st. bridge west of Santa Ana. It had subsided somewhat today.
LA PALMA RIVER—Flood waters from Carbon Canyon made a raging torrent out of La Palma.
Eisenhower’s Name Due to be Listed In State Primary
CONCORD, N.H. — The name of Gen. Eisenhower is expected to be entered today in Hampshire’s preference primaries as a Republican candidate president.
His consent, however, not given, will still be necessary fore his name appears on

GROWN-UP CASTING POOL—Fishermen wanting to practice casting on La Palma park's casting pool yesterday would have done well to provide themselves with boats or rafts. Early yesterday morning the water flooding the park was dotted with oranges, doubtless washed out of groves on the way down from Carbon Canyon. In the distance is the intersection of Palm st. and La Palma ave.
FLOODED—Ephriam Kessler of Anaheim Textile store pushes out the water that flooded his store on E. Center st. It leaked through the second story of the building and into the store. Anaheim Appliance store, next door, suffered a similar discomfort from the rainstorm.—(Gazette photos by Kreidt)

company," Mr. Nolan said, "the biggest in the company's history." Employment is up 60 percent over the war time peak, pointed out.
He said the new plant represents product diversification for the company. The company will manufacture items for the Ordnance Corp which are outside the aircraft field. He said the "peace time" demand for the Anaheim plant's products will be great.
The 250,000 square foot plan is the largest of its kind west of the Mississippi. It now employs 525 persons but will grow to 150 by late fall. It will be opened to the public for inspection next Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
Mr. Nolan declared that the company would sub-contract locally "as much as possible."
Stan Whieldon, president of the Anaheim Chamber, presided at the meeting.

Current Winter of California Due To Be Known as Time of Storms
(Editor's Note: This is the last of two articles on the state rainmaking research).
By WILLIAM HI ALLEN
SACRAMENTO (AP) — There's little doubt that the winter of 1951-52 will go down in California history books as a time of big storms.
It's also the year when at least 11 public or private agencies are paying for cloudseeding operations with the hope they'll produce more rain.
A pure coincidence, almost certainly, but it illustrates the paradox of California water supply and helps explain why the state is interested enough in the rainmaking experiments to undertake a $50,000 program for evaluating them.
There's seldom enough water in the right place at the right time, and often too much of it in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Counties, corporations and groups of farmers in several parts of the state have enough belief that there is a way to make more rain or snow fall in the right place at the right time that they are underwriting or conducting their own cloudseeding programs.
This is the list, as compiled under the state's new rainmakers' licensing law:
San Diego County, the San Diego County Weather corporation; the watershed of the Santa Ana river including parts of Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Los Angeles counties; the Santa Ana River Weather corporation; the Antelope valley of Los Angeles county, the Antelope Valley Water Development corporation.
The west side of Kern county and a portion of adjoining San Lui Obispo county, for Kern county and the Carissa corporation; an area along the east side of the San Joaquin valley including a portion of the Sierra, Southern Sierra corporation.
Ventura county, Ventura County Cloud Seeding corporation; Santa Barbara county, the County Water agency; Santa Clara county the county supervisors.
The Sierra drainage area south fork of the San Jorge river, around Huntington Shaver lakes, the Southern formia Edison Co.; and the slope of the Sierra from Pine to Conway Pass, by the California Electric Power Company.
All this activity will undoubtedly provide the state research under the direction of R. R. Nolds, a water resources engineer, with a wealth of environmental data. But it's also an element. The area that can be used for what the scientists call a "control—a region where the pollution is all natural, for comparison with the so-called 'shrinking.'"
One possible control area is coastal country from Gilroy to a line running through Nobody is known to be tampered with the clouds there. The expanse of Northern California where all the rain and snow falls is strictly nature's can be used for comparative purposes.
There is no proved relation between Northern and Southern California rainfall.

The Sierra drainage area of the south fork of the San Joaquin River, around Huntington and Maverick lakes, the Southern California Edison Co.; and the east slope of the Sierra from Lone Rock to Conway Pass, by and for the California Electric Power Co.
All this activity will undoubtedly provide the state researchers under the direction of R. R. Reynolds, a water resources division engineer, with a wealth of experimental data. But it's also a problem. The area that can be used for what the scientists call a control—a region where the precipitation is all natural, for comparison with the seeded areas—is drinking.
One possible control area is the coastal country from Gilroy south a line running through Taft. Nobody is known to be tampering with the clouds there. The huge panse of Northern California here all the rain and snow that its is strictly nature's can't be used for comparative purposes. There is no proved relationship between Northern and Southern California rainfall.
Another thing Reynolds notes must be considered by his crew is that scientific rainmaking is young. There is no reason to think that techniques—and a variety of them are still used—are not improving so that a continuing study may be needed.
However, Reynolds hopes that the state researchers can arrive at some kind of answer in a year and a half.
That's how long the contract now under execution with the University of California for statistical work lasts.
In addition to the statistics the state plans to do a little research in cloud physics with machines that count the tiny particles in the atmosphere that are the key to natural rainfall and to the attempts to increase it artificially.
