YESTERYEAR (1951) — Price-wage freeze seen as Tank Raiders fight desperately to hold Korean outposts. Mrs. Mackie Sutherland, a 79-year-old pedestrian, died of injuries sustained while crossing Stanton Blvd. Arval C. Collins had a nocturnal visitor—the "pants burglar"... Unions were battling over the Boss Over-all company's contract and bargaining rights. Valencia crop was up five per cent according to the Department of Agriculture figures. Anahi cagers beat Fullerton, 61-49, with Ira Webber and Sheldon Welch doing the sharpshooting for Sam Keith's league leaders. Anahi B hoopsters also won, 55-24. Emil Niesperos took time out to celebrate the arrival of a new son. Henry Del Glorgio rolled a 268 for high bowling honors. Larry Weaver checked out of Fullerton college. OBSERVATION — Isn't it a shame that all this good rain water has to run down the river to the ocean where they have so much water. Would that it could replenish the already depleted underground reservoirs. NOTATIONS—Frances Backs, newly installed president of the Anaheim Board of Realtors, is a member of one of Anaheim's pioneer families. Her grandfather was Anaheim's pioneer doctor... Jimmy Talcott who grew up in Anaheim is one of Fullerton's more progressive realtors. His father, J. Earl Talcott, is one of Anaheim's better known orange growers who can remember when water was so scarce that it was rationed... Don Maxson has found W. La Palma ave. more navigable than it was when he was a schoolboy. His kids enjoy the rain about as much as he did. Fred C. Plepenbrink has finally swung the deal he's been dreaming of for a long time. The 51-acre tract just west of the city will be turned into a 240-home, $3.5-million development which will eventually become part of Anaheim. OOPS—It musta been a typographical error. An article in one of the papers said: "Nearly 59,000 Fullerton telephones were converted to dial operation Sunday." If that were true, every man, woman and child in North Anaheim would have at least four telephones to play with. SCANDAL—You could bet that the full-scale investigation into the alleged misconduct between Dale L. Glick, superintendent of Placentia, and his flaming-tressed secretary, Mrs. Virginia Allee would be played up if it had been part of the metropolitan scene. Details of the affair which board members have said were "shocking" and "a tragedy" are to be aimed at a special meeting tomorrow night... Mrs. Allec has resigned "effective immediately." Her letter of resignation said she wished to secure a position which holds "more opportunity for advancement." The superintendent, it was announced, is on "a one week vacation." The $8400-a-year-school executive denied the whole thing that has Placentia buzzing. TAINT NEWS—Joe Martin, the crossing guard, tells us that this is the wettest Anaheim winter since the flood. And, come to think of it, he's right. NITECAPSULE — He doesn't think of girls all the time, but when he thinks, he thinks of girls. DETROIT (UP)—Automotive pioneer Alvan MacAuley, who directed the Packard Motor Car Co., for 32 years, died last night at Clearwater, Fla. He would have been 80 years old today. NEW ORLEANS (UP)—Politically unknown Carlos Spaht—aided by Gov. Earl Long—and Appeals Judge Robert Kennon, an independent candidate, appeared today to be outdistancing seven other candidates in the gace for governor of Louisiana.
