Gazette Home Economist
As you look back over your life in 1951, does it seem that you accomplished all you wanted to do, that you became a well rounded individual (spiritually and mentally rather than physically, of course)? Did you find happiness? Did you do the best possible job as mother and home-maker? Or to be honest with yourself, are there certain adjustments you would like to make in the fresh new year to come.
There are a few resolutions which all home-makers can be making in common this year. They are especially important to new home-makers who are thinking of them for the first time. They are important, too, to those of us who have been making modern methods have their own rewards. System will be adopted with a capital S.
THE FOOD SITUATION
Just as the army moves on stomach, so does the family. A petizing meals, promptly serve are a morale builder as well health insurance. We therefore resolve to learn the nutrition needs of each member of the family and meet those needs as we can.
We will concentrate on buying and using food wisely, cutting down waste to next to nothing. We will make those meals as interesting and varied as possible that the family will get the freshest enjoyment from them.

maker? Or to be honest with yourself, are there certain adjustments you would like to make in the fresh new year to come.
There are a few resolutions which all home-makers can be making in common this year. They are especially important to new home-makers who are thinking of them for the first time. They are important, too, to those of us who have been making the wheels of family life revolve for some time. We all need to set goals for ourselves, and if you have been thinking about it as I have, they seem to fall into definite categories.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE
As the lady of the house, we resolve to look our best at all times. This includes the early morning hours, as well as later on while house-work is in progress. A neat hair-do, a dash of make-up, and an attractive frock is bound to rate us high with family and friends and at the same time give us a decided lift.
We resolve to observe good health habits to improve figure, complexion and disposition. This means a balanced diet, as well as adequate rest.
HOUSE KEEPING
We resolve to be happy in our work. Our day is our own to do with as we wish and in our job there are unlimited possibilities for fun and the deep satisfaction that comes from work well done. In 1952, fault finding and complaints are out!
We hereby determine to review our house-keeping methods with an eye toward streamlined efficiency. We are going to get on a business-like basis and stay there, doing the things we must easily and quickly to leave time for the extras. Short-cuts, step saving,
resolve to learn the nutrition needs of each member of the family and meet those needs as befits we can.
We will concentrate on buying and using food wisely, cutting down waste to next to nothing. We will make those meals as interesting and varied as possible that the family will get the finest enjoyment from them.
New products and rising costs present a challenge. We will treat them as such.
OUR YOUNGSTERS
Early marriages and institutions of higher learning snatch our children in a short span of time. Let's enjoy the kiddie while we have them. We resolve to spend more time with them in the new year to get in some companionship as well as care.
Warding off juvenile delinquency starts right at the cradle. In this topsy-turvy world a child finds the security on whih to base a well adjusted life on in a warm and loving home. We resolve to give more freely of our love and affection.
Never boll frankfurters when you are heating them in water. Drop them into the boiling water and then simmer them for about seven minutes or until they are hot through. To simmer water means to keep it just below the boiling point.
