Friendly Circle Enjoys Christmas Gift Exchange—Officers Retained for Year
The ladies of the Friendly Circle met recently in the home of Mrs. Charles McGinnin on Coronado rd. and enjoyed a lovely chicken dinner. In addition to the Christmas gift exchange each member exchanged secret pal gifts and told who her 1951 secret pal has been, and also drew a new secret pal for 1952. During the business meeting a decision was made to retain the present officers for 1952, as follows: president, Mrs. Verl Royer; secretary, Mrs. Myrell Royer; treasurer, Mrs. Charles McGinnin.
An invitation was read to the club from Mr. and Mrs. Anton Vanderboom to the golden wedding party, Saturday, Dec. 29, for Mrs. Vanderboom's mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. James Pavel of Stanton.
A committee was appointed to make new club books before next meeting, with Mrs. Roy Jennings as chairman.
The club will have a birthday anniversary in January. Four members have perfect attendance records.
January 9 the club will finish a round of entertaining when they meet at the home of Mrs. Anton Vanderboom and will then start around the group when they will entertain according to ages.
Noted Artist Slated for Ebell Meet

"Bell, Book and Candle" is the recent stage success to be offered by Miss Donovan.
Gordon Whitnall; planning consultant, will be luncheon speaker, his topic, "Discussion of Oil as Applies to Anaheim." Luncheon reservations are in charge of Mrs. Robert Cash.

Collector Meet In Haskett Home
Miss Elva Haskett was hostess to the Anaheim Doll Collectors club recently when she entertained at a Christmas buffet in her S. Helena st. home.
Plans were made for a doll exhibit to be held during the year. A gift exchange followed the business meeting and Mrs. Emily Van Verst took first prize in the peanut doll contest.
The next meeting will be held in the home of Mrs. Ray Tozer.
Make it in a Few Hours
When Vee Oster got word that her handsome Marine Corps son could not be home for Christmas, she wasted no time feeling sorry for herself but planned a Christmas party for all the youngsters in her neighborhood instead. Other lonely parents take note. The kids had a wonderful time and so did Mrs. Oster.
The Frende Combs home fairly sparkled with Yuletide decorations this season but their price came high. While decorating the house, Mrs. Combs stepped down from a footstool (as she has done safely many times before) and fell—causing her to spend the holidays on crutches. The injury is not serious, she says, but surely came at the wrong time!
They can say what they want about the bright lights and Christmas displays along Santa Ana's N. Flower St. but we think the various home displays in Anaheim were tops. Anaheim is rapidly becoming a city of Christmas tree lights and decorations to more families festoon their homes in the Christmas spirit each year. Evelyn Dr. was a veritable fairy land, and the neighbors on W. Sycamore and W. Alberta back of the high school outdid them selves with Christmas symbols sprites and paintings. We have an idea that the men in the family did the heavy work but probably was the little lady who dreamed up the displays and got the boys "on the ball!"
Christmas was a merry chase mother, but no use resting on your laurels. The sales have started downtown, and the bargains are so sensational, you won't want to miss them. Watch the ads in the Gazette and see what I mean.
NORWEGIAN NURSE
Mary Storm, industrial nurse at Kwikset Locks, married in a Norwegian family and with the help of her mother-in-law's recipe file, has made a Norwegian cookie cutting a Christmas tradition.
Mary made at least seven different kinds of cookies this year besides baking a batch of fruit cake, planning Christmas for her four youngsters and holding down a full time job. How does she do it? You will have to ask her I know you will want her favorite...

WORKING HOURS!
Yes folks, that's Reddy Kilowatt's schedule for 1952.
Eight thousand, seven hundred and eighty-four hours of work.
It's based on a simple calculation: 24 hours a day for
366 days, with no holidays or vacations. The number of
hours doesn't really matter to you, though. What does matter
is the fact that there will be electric power behind your
switches when you need it—every hour of the day, every day
in the year.
