Annual Visit of Grand President Planned by YLI
Mercedes Kilker, Institute deputy duty and Myrtle Riecl, both of Long Beach Institute, were guests of Anaheim YLI this week. Mercedes Kilker spoke on the "Spirit of Christmas."
Of importance to the members of Anaheim Institute and Corpus Christi Institute, Fullerton, wrote the discussion of plans that are being formulated for the dinner honoring Rose Aless Reid, grand president, who will make her joint official visit to these two institutes on Monday, Jan. 7, 1952. Anaheim Institute is the hostess institute and is in charge of the dinner and decorations; Corpus Christi Institute, the visiting institute will be in charge of the tea in honor of the new members initiated the evening. There will be a practice following the meeting of Corpus Christi Institute on Wednesday Jan. 3, in the Ebell club house Fullerton. All officers of both institutes have been requested to attend this meeting, as it is imperative that the practice be held before the grand president's visit. The dinner will be held at 8:45 p.m. in St. Boniface hall on Monday, Jan. 7; the meeting and formal initiation will be held in the IOOF hall at 8 o'clock.

Anaheim Home Department met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. R. C. Hein with the project "Christmas Cookies" highlighting the meeting. Leaders were Mrs. Herman Freese and Mrs. L. R. Tomlinson who demonstrated the making of cookies and decorating cookies for the holidays.
It was decided to work toward purchase of a coffee maker for the department. Thirty-two members attended, including four guests, Mrs. A. Steffens, Mrs. Mille Nellie Payne, Mrs. A. Stark and Mrs. Lila Sexton. On the hostess committee were Mrs. Freese, Mrs. P. V. Kelly, Mrs. A. Hartelt and Mrs. A. Bircher.
Gifts were brought for two needy families. On the distribution committee were Mrs. Ralph Mauerhan and Mrs. C. W. Mauerhan. A gift exchange was conducted. Mrs. Bessie Anderson in charge. Mrs. M. L. Bose displayed a sugar house and explained the making.
Program artists Mrs. Lila Sexton and the group sang carols. Mrs. Bessie Elkins spoke briefly on "The History of Christmas Carols." Jan. 22 is the date of the next meeting.
The boyhood home of John Howard Payne who wrote "Home Sweet Home" is preserved in East Hampton, N.Y.
Red Cross Vets Party Issues Plea For Hostesses
A request for hostesses to entertain paraplegic veterans at a Los Alamitos Naval Air Station New Year's Eve party has been issued by the Red Cross camp and hospital council it was announced today by the local chapter.
Girls of college age are asked to call Anaheim 2085 to make arrangements for the evening. Approximately 15 girls are needed and should call the chapter before noon tomorrow.
FISH FILLETS AMANDINE
1 pound fish fillets
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons flour
¼ teaspoon salt
Dash cayenne
1 cup milk
½ cup grated American cheese
1 tablespoon California sherry
¼ cup roasted slivered almonds
Poach fish in water to cover, Drain and place in shallow baking dish. Meanwhile melt butter and blend in flour and seasonings. Add milk, stirring and cooking until thickened. Blend in cheese and wine, stirring over low heat until cheese melts. Pour over poached fish, sprinkle with almonds. Broil two or three minutes until heated and bubbly. Makes four servings.

Rotary-sponsored Boy Scout Troop 80 last night met in the investment in Youth hall at La Ma and Olive sts. for a meet with parents of the boys attending.

Entertainment was provided by Rudy Pena, who rendered a solo and accompanied other Scouts as they sang Roy sang a solo and Earl Becker and Delmar Key took the duo a rendition of "Silent Night."
Featured performer of the ning was Walter Wittesch, who on a magic show with the assistance of Fred Williamson, his ter, Margaret Wittesch, and Lyn Breckenridge, who was cruited from the audience.

Cypress-Magnolia Farm Center Has Christmas Party at Women's Clubhouse
Guests, games and fun topped the annual Christmas turkey dinner this week for members of Cypress-Magnolia Farm Center when the group met in Buena Park women's clubhouse. Kelsey Williams, chairman of the center dispensed with business and Mrs. Ethel Korn introduced the guests and new members.
Radio and television star Kenny Ottee entertained with impersonations of famous singers including Lelle Purcell, Vaughn Monroe, Nat King Cole and Frankie Laine. He also sang three selections, "Ave Maria," "Because of You," and "Lucky Old Sun."
Vance Carruth, evangelist at South Gate for the Church of Christ, performed feats of magic and later entertained at the piano. One hundred thirty members
CEREAL FUDGE
4 tablespoons butter or margarine
½ pound marshmallows
1 2-ounce unsweetened chocolate
½ teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup instant cooking whole wheat cereal
½ cup whole wheat germ
½ cup coarsely chopped nuts or coconut
Butter pan 6x10xI inches. Melt 4 tablespoons butter in saucepan, add marshmallows and stir over medium heat until marshmallows are melted and syrupy. Stir in chocolate until melted and guests were served by Mr. and Mrs. Steve Cannon, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Pelous, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Kelsey Williams, Lester Moffett, Mr. and Mrs. Brent Wahlberg, Mrs. W. L. Wicker, Mrs. R. J. Brown and Al Mittman.
Door prizes were awarded to the children and adults.
LIVER PRITTERS
1 pound sliced liver
1 tablespoon drippings
¼ cup milk
1 cup shredded bran
1 egg, beaten
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons flour
¼ cup each minced green pepper, grated onion Fat for frying
Brown liver in 1 tablespoon drippings, then put through food chopper. Pour milk over bran to soften. Add to ground meat. Stir in egg and rest of ingredients. Drop into deep hot fat 360 deg., by spoonfuls. Cook until brown.

12 ounce can whole kernel corn, drained

Melt butter in saucepan. Add green pepper and onion and cook gently five minutes. Blend in flour, then milk and wine. Cook, stirring constantly, until thicken-

Blend in vanilla, salt, cereal,
wheat germ and nuts. Stir and knead with a spoon until well mixed. Drop mixture into prepared pan, cover with waxed paper and press down to fill corners of pan. Cool and cut in squares.

Melt butter in saucepan. Add green pepper and onion and cook gently five minutes. Blend in flour, then milk and wine. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add cheese, stir over low heat until melted. Remove from heat, stir in crumbs, corn, eggs, salt and pepper to taste. Pour into greased casserole (about 10x6x2 inches). Sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 350 deg. about 50 minutes. Makes five or six servings.
