Garey's to Open Furniture Store No. 4 Tomorrow in Fullerton
Garey's newest furniture store will open Friday in Fullerton, at 121 No. Spadra rd., in the location occupied by Sears for a number of years; recently vacated when they moved to their store on Commonwealth, it was announced today by A. A. Garey, owner and operator of Garey's several Orange county stores. This is Garey's Store No. 4, the first store having been opened in Anaheim at 504 W. Center in March, 1947. Since that time, other Garey stores have been opened in Santa Ana and Costa Mesa.
Manager of the new Fullerton store will be Glenn Ugland, well known in California and Washington furniture circles for the past 18 years. Assistant manager will be Wm. H. Griffith, long a resident of Fullerton and with the Garey organization for the past two years.
Featuring the opening Friday will be a "Man on the Street" broadcast, during which several hundred dollars in free prizes will be awarded to visitors in the lobby of the store.
An automatic O'Keefe & Merriitt gas range will also be given to Fullerton customers during the Christmas season, with the award to be made Saturday evening.
Parade Sat To Anaheim
By JOAN S. WHITE
Rudolph, the red-nosed deer, may not be on hand to come Santa Claus to Anabeim this holiday night when the annual Christmas parade gets underway at 7 p.m., but he is about all will be missing, and the beau horses of the Anaheim Riding will more than make up for absence.
Santa's arrival amid cold floats and traditional Yuletide sicle will officially open the Christmas season in Anaheim, and sight of the merry old gentle with the familiar red suit snowy white beard is sure to be visions of glittering Christmas tree, shiny new toys and Christmas spirit to youngsters adults alike.
A part of this holiday ceremony which is under the auspices of Retail division of the Chambe Commerce, the 31 garlands, bells and wreaths that adorn
living costs, taxes and other exacting demands on the public have made this year's solicitation of funds for the Community Chest a difficult one. Anaheim already has raised more than 90 per cent of its 1951-52 quota, Gene Steck; Community Chest Fund campaign chairman, stated in his official report yesterday.
Steck pointed out that last year's collection to this date was only half of the amount collected so far this year, and that Anaheim leads the Orange county Federation Chests percentage-wise, except for the Newport Harbor, which has collected 118 per cent of its quota.
Late returns still anticipated by the secretary indicate that Anaheim will complete its goal, Steck said. Cash in the bank today totals $20,276.52, with pledges and payroll deduction contributions of more than $1000 still due. Anaheim's quota is $22,300.
Singled out for special commendation by Steck were the following campaign workers: Dick Gay, advance gifts chairman, Joe Sowden, Barney Jordan, industrial chairman, Ron Brandon, business chairman, Rev. Al Casebeer, residential chairman and Wayne Butterbaugh, suburban chairman. Mrs. R. W. Marvin, campaign secretary, and the ladies who helped her in the headquarters office were also praised for their efforts by the general chairman.
Featuring the opening Friday will be a "Man on the Street" broadcast, during which several hundred dollars in free prizes will be awarded to visitors in the lobby of the store.
An automatic O'Keefe & Merritt gas range will also be given to Fullerton customers during the Christmas season, with the award to be made Saturday evening, Dec. 22.
Other features to call attention to the opening will include a free Christmas turkey with a Crosley Shelvador refrigerator, $25.00 worth of groveries with a Norge refrigerator, a free electric iron with a Norge washer, several free extras with a Speed Queen washer, free year's supply of Tide with a Thor washer, a stainless steel knife set for old vacuum cleaners when traded for a Lewyt, and other gifts suited to the occasion.
MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (P) — Henry Rahming's hopes for a boy were borne out all right—by twins. But they arrived three years too late to save him from a blistering hike. Last time the Rahming's were expecting in 1948, Henry made a wager to walk barefoot from their home to Gorham, 13 miles away, if it wasn't a boy. It wasn't.

Mr. Swanberger is a well known authority on trends in masculine clothing so it is worth noting that he places leisure jackets high on the list for Christmas giving. Most popular models seem to be the suede jackets which come in grey, navy, mocha and sand, although the all-wool, wool and rayon and corduroy in long or short styles rate high too. Besides these, Swanberger's Men's Store has an extensive collection of cashmere sweaters, all-wool robes and the newest sport shirts.
And according to Jack Barron, general manager of Lake's Menswear Store:
"Fabrics used in men's clothing are of excellent quality this mas giving, and the best by Anaheim, and will continue so during the 15 shopping

Quality and Price
According to Al Cotler who operates Cotler's Men's and Women's Apparel Store, not only are the selections in town even better than last year but in some cases the prices are actually lower while the quality remains equally high.
As an example, Mr. Cotler points out the exceptional hand-framed argyle socks stocked by his store. Composed of 50 per cent nylon and 50 per cent wool, they are tremendous value.
In honor of the Christmas opening, Cotler's will feature a special sale of first quality nylon hosiery, an item high on the popularity pole of Christmas gifts.
There will be specially priced merchandise also, in each of the 30 departments of the S.Q.R. Store, an opportunity for the canny shopper to become acquainted with the superior quality presented by this discriminating store which has been the style leader in Anaheim for half a century.
S.Q.R. is truly the family gift store. The toiletries, jewelry, wearing apparel are the last word in glamour and luxury. The S.Q.R. label stands for quality and good taste and so gives a mark of distinction to special gifts at Christmas.

A Good Understanding
The official opening of the Christmas season in Anaheim highlights Christmas shopping and there is no doubt that intensive shopping is hard on the feet.
Comfortable, properly fitting shoes are a must and they may be found at the Williams Shoe Store where owner John Williams has built a business on "good shoes properly fitted." After many years of experience in orthopedic work, Mr. Williams suggests that the best Christmas gift of all for mother or dad, whose feet have been giving trouble, is a gift certificate for a pair of well fitting shoes from Williams Shoe Store.
Wear and tear on the disposition as well as the feet is saved too, by some pre-shopping at home. For shopping convenience, the Anaheim Gazette has listed on its pages suggestions for Christ-
Fans Wait for Unveiling of Lili St. Cyr
BEVERLY HILLS (P)—Is she going to take 'em off—or isn't?
Lili St. Cyr, a genius at the art suspense, seems to be building to some sort of a climax in her trial on a charge of giving an decent performance at a nightclub.
First she gave out the word she would stage her bubble-bath before a jury to prove it was art." The prosecutor said it wouldn't object, but it would have to be done in the courtroom.
The stripper's attorney, however, said yesterday he believes the scene should be the nightclub, where the setting is more artistic than the courtroom could provide.
Strangely enough, the judge hasn't been asked whether he will permit Miss St. Cyr to peel in either place.
Miss St. Cyr's attorney, incidentally, is Jerry Giesler, one of the more famous lawyers in these parts. Giesler is doing his best to make it legal for Lili to divorce herself from her clothes.
"I think her dance is beautiful," he told the jury. "She has art in her heart."
Giesler, who would be termed at least buxom if her were in Miss St. Cyr's shoes, exhibited a pair of panties and a bra in the courtroom. He said these were what Miss St. Cyr wore in the show so she was not nude as the arresting officers said.
Spectators began to get an idea why Miss St. Cyr perhaps prefers the nightclub to the courtroom for her performances.
Nightclubs are well heated. In a drafty courtroom, and in that costume, Miss St. Cyr could catch cold.

NY Bank Loans Money to Hoboes
NEW YORK (P)—At least one Fifth Avenue band doesn't consider a loan to hoboes a bad risk.
But the hoboes, who borrowed $2000 to set up a "model flop-house," so far can't find a place to spend the money.
With the cash borrowed recently from the Modern Industrial bank, the hoboes have been roaming the city looking for a suitable vacant lot or condemned building to set up their 50-cents-a-night hotel. The proceeds will go to pay off the mortgage.
At the close of business yesterday, the investment still hung fire. But the hoboes, led by Bozo Clarke, still are hopeful.
Offers to back the project flooded in from coast to coast. But what really decided the bank on the loan was an unidentified New York philanthropist co-signing the note.
