3 Anaheim Gazette TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1951 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Social and Club Activities Pat Terrebonne — 2206 County Students To Attend Chi 4-H Convention California's outstanding. 4-H club members in agriculture and home economics will leave for Chicago Thursday. They will represent their state at the 30th National 4-H Club Congress, and will also compete with other state winners for national scholarships. Representing Orange county and California at the Congress will be Nancy Bascom of Tustin, Alice Ann Adams of Orange and Roy Rosedale of Yorba Linda. Miss Bascom was chosen county and state winner in the girl's record division of 4-H competition, sponsored by Montgomery Ward and Co. Miss Adams was winner of the farm and home safety competition, sponsored by General Motors Corp., and Rosedale was tractor maintenance winner in the General Petroleum Corp. sponsored contest. Miss Adams has been chosen from among 4-H winners throughout the nation to act as chairman of a special luncheon program at the Congress. She will serve as Marywood Juniors Honor Seniors at St. Catherine Day Continuing a tradition of many years, the Junior class at Marywood high school feted the Seniors today in honor of their patroness, St. Catherine of Alexandria. The Seniors assisted at Holy Mass this morning in the school chapel. After a breakfast served by the Juniors, the Senior class inaugurated a new custom, a ring ceremony. Miss Colette de Cordoba, Senior class president, presided The vice-president of the class, Miss Margaret Cain, explained the significance of the seal of the Sisters of Providence which is on the class ring. Sister St. Philomene, the principal, addressed the class and afterwards presented a class ring to each girl, assisted by the class officers, Miss Colette de Cordoba, Miss Margaret Cain, and Miss Imogene Larson. Following the distribution of the rings, the Seniors recited a ring pledge and concluded the ceremony with the singing of the hymn "On This Day, O Beautiful Mother." The Senior class with Mrs. John A. Larson and Mrs. Bernard J. Royers Announcing Wedding Plans For Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Myrell E. Sycamore st., are at the engagement of their Marjorie, to John H. G. of Mrs. Gladys Gulick or 12th st., Santa Ana. Miss Royer was graduate schools in Ohio and is with the Bank of Arlington Fullerton. Her fiance Santa Ana schools and included in Chino. No date has been set wedding. A telegram announcing rite of Anna M. Davies Jams st., and James A. M. of Conway, Tex., was received their children of this city evening. Ice cream and cake decorated with pale blue booties were served to guests in the Ponteprinto home. Present were Corrine Shaw, Alice Stowel, Elisie Saville, Gertrude Mitchell, Mary Lou Welszebrod, Ruby Kelly, Barbara Goddard, Inez Broadaway and Mrs. Sue Winger. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent J. Malnoski and daughter, Jill, 5962 Indiana st., Buena Park, are moving to Marietta, Ga., to make their home. Mrs. Malnoski is first vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and also first vice president of the Lindbergh Parent-Teacher Assn. and served two years as president of the Junior Women's club. CANDIED APPLES 6 medium-sized red apples 1 cup brown sugar ½ cup grannied sugar ½ cup light corn syrup ½ cup water 1 tablespoon butter 1 teaspoon vanilla Stick wooden skewers in stem end of apples. Cook sugars, corn syrup and butter in saucepan over low heat until sugar dissolves. Cook to light-crack stage (270F) without stirring; remove from heat and add vanilla. Dip apples into syrup. The small Beltsville birds go between four and eight pounds, hens are between nine and 14 pounds while the big Toms average between 18 and 25 pounds. All have broad breasts and plenty of white meat. Ham and turkey blend well together, and there is no more economical way to serve a holiday meal to a crowd than with a buffet which includes both these meats.
