Bureau Announces Breakdown on How $750,000 Will Go
SACRAMENTO (P)—A detailed breakdown on how $750,000 will be spent for federal studies of future water and power possibilities in California has been announced by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
Of the sum, more than $127,000 will be used for surveys aimed at boosting water supplies for the west side of the San Joaquin Valley, said Bureau Regional planning engineer A. N. Murray.
Another $55,000 will go to continue studies of the entire central valley project, with possibly plans for new installations.
Also included in the planning funds, appropriated by the Congress, are provisions for studies on the Trinity, Klamath, Amerean, Feather and Kings rivers and for the San Francisco and Santa Maria regions.
The bureau will spend $61,000 for investigations involving a dam on the Feather river near Oroville. Murray said this will be independent of studies being made by the state for a dam in the same area.
Among the other projects tabbed for studies:
Santa Maria; $15,000 to set up a water conservation and flood control system to place 30,000 acres under irrigation.
