For Results and Quick American to be Tried in Europe On Spy Charges GENEVA (UP) — A tubercular young American Negro is to be tried in the federal Swiss criminal court on charges of political spying in behalf of Sen. Joseph W: McCarthy (R-Wis). The Swiss government has accused Charles E. Davis, 24, of Pasadena, Calif., of violating Swiss sovereignty by allegedly gathering information about John Carter Vincent, U. S. minister to Switzerland until his transfer last February, and supplying it to McCarthy. Davis also was charged with leaving his landlady with a bill for more than $100 for telephone calls to the United States. His trial is scheduled to begin at Lausanne next Monday. Davis was arrested by Swiss authorities last November and for the past several months has been treated in a Geneva tuberculosis hospital, where he has been kept in the prison ward. LEGAL NOTICES STATEMENT REQUIRED BY THE ACT OF AUGUST 24, 1912, AS AMENDED BY THE ACTS OF MARCH 3, 1933, AND JULY 2, 1946 (TITLE 30, UNITED STATES CODE) Anaheim Gazette by JOIN S. NEUBAUER Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. —John 14.6. CALIFORNIANA—On Oct. 10, 1542, Cabrillo discovered Pueblo de las Canoas, an extensive village of Indians at a point somewhere between Ventura and Pt. Mugu. Cabrillo held a colloquy with the Indians and took formal possession of the land for the king of Spain. FULLERTON — A 68-year-old lumber mill is being torn down. It was built in 1883 by T. S. Grimshaw who sold it to W. T. Brown and Ben Damer. In the early days, Brown, then an Anaheim bank director, operated the lumber mill, while Dauser utilized part of the building as a grist mill cracking corn, rolling oats and barley for the farmers of north Orange county. The old building was steeped with history as its boilers were fired with crude oil. Comeback Club Sets Initial Meet Initial meeting of the Comback club, an association of ex-tubercular patients, will be held Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center clubhouse, 1104 W. 8th st., Santa Ana. Rev. Fred Niedringhaus, pastor of First Congregational church Sahta Ana, and chairman of the sponsoring committee of the Orange County Tuberculosis and Health association, will preside over the meeting, which will see to determine whether or not the club is wanted or needed by persons who would form its membership. of the tiny tot. Anaheim Gazette, Oct. 5, 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 1951) IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF ORANGE In the matter of the estate of lumber mill is being torn down. It was built in 1883 by T. S. Grimshaw who sold it to W. T. Brown and Ben Damerer. In the early days, Brown, then an Anaheim bank director, operated the lumber mill while Dewser utilized part of the building as a grist mill cracking corn, rolling oats and barley for the farmers of north Orange county. The old building was steeped with history as its boilers were fired with crude oil hauled by horse and wagon from the then newly developed oil fields in Olinda... Grant Brown Jr., will tell you that both his grandfather and Grimshaw played important roles in the development of both Anaheim and Fullerton and their environs... HOLD T'PHONE—It's going to cost you more to telephone beginning Nov. 1. Who said talk was cheap? It isn't when a nickel won't even get you a local call. BREA—Frank Schweitzer will tell you that no one in Brea has forgotten the day when Babe Ruth and "Big Train" Walter Johnson—packed the Brea Bowl to capacity... And Art Sullivan, the big construction man, hasn't forgotten the "good olde days" when the Sullivan Brothers baseball team used to fill the Brea Bowl when they played exhibition baseball... Carl Borgen, the retired CCMO production chief, is an authority on the Brea-Olinda oilfield development... GUESS—Is anyone going to use beautiful La Palma Park as a spring training camp in 1952? Chances are that the "most beautiful ball park in America" will be utilized for a dawg show next spring. LA HABRA — Bill Rosner and Glenn Wassinger are to establish a golf driving range on the ten acres recently annexed to the City of La Habra... Work on the $575,-000 warehouse-office building of the Alpha Beta chain was begun when orange trees were cleared from the land... Well! Bill Roberes could tell you that it'll be harder to get a drivers' license after Nov. 3. Why? Because LEGAL NOTICES (Pub. Anaheim Gazette, Oct. 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 1951) IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN AND FOR THE COUNTY OF ORANGE In the matter of the estate of Edward F. Walker, will sell, subject to confirmation by the Superior Court of the State of California in and for the County of Orange, at private sale, to the highest bidder, on the 23rd day of October, 1951, at 10:00 o'clock AM; or offer said date at the premises located in the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange, State of California, and known and designated as Suite 10, 204½ East Fourth street, all the right, title and interest and estate of said decedent at the time of his death, and all the right, title, and interest the estate has, by operation of law or otherwise acquired other than, or in addition to, that of said decedent, at the time of his death, in and to the following personal property, to-wit: One promissory note dated December 20, 1945, made by George K. Kirley and Wilma Kirley, in the sum of $9000.00 bearing interest at 5%, payable to Edward F. Walker, deceased, or order, and payable in installments of $80.00 on the list of each and every month thereafter, thereby reducing the principal to the sum of $5545.77. Terms and conditions of Sale: Cash in fullal money of the United States at least 10% of the bid to be paid at the time of the sale, balance on confirmation of this sale by the Court. All bids must be in writing and will be received at the Law Office of Charles Martin, Suite 10. Commercial National Bank Bldg., 204½ East Fourth Street in the City of Santa Ana, California, at any time after the first publication of this notice, and before making of said sale. Dated October 4, 1951. DONALD R. WALKER Executor of the estate of Edward F. Walker, deceased. Charles Martin Suite 10 204½ East Fourth St. Santa Ana, California. LA HABRA — Bill Resner and Glenn Wassinger are to establish a golf driving range on the ten acres recently annexed to the City of La Habra... Work on the $375,-000 warehouse-office building of the Alpha Beta chain was begun when orange trees were cleared from the land... Well; Bill Roberes could tell you that it'll be harder to get a driver's license after Nov. 3. Why? Because Highway patrol offices will close on Saturdays. HUMAN INTEREST—Anaheim and all Southern California has been following little Donny Marton's fight for life ever since he was brought to a Costa Mesa revival meeting by his father, a Canadian farmer. Dr. William T. Grant, a Pasadena brain surgeon, has operated several times on the frall four-year-old to alleviate pressure on his brain... Oddly enough, a parallel case of a one-year-old child, Douglas Berry, was brought to light in Fullerton this week, after the third delicate brain operation was performed at St. Luke's hospital in Pasadena. After reading how Mr. and Mrs. Harold K. Berry spent their life's savings, sold their home and furnishings and gone $2500 in debt to find a cure, Orange county folks spontaneously sent contributions to the Fullerton newspaper that ran the story. It is encouraging indeed, that folks hardened to human suffering, will pause to sympathize with such courageous folks as the Berrys who are doing everything possible so that their child can live a normal existence... The prayers and contributions of these good people will certainly speed the recovery...
