Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1951 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Slimmer Furs To Be Offered Ask any man and he'll tell you it's too warm in Southern California for furs in winter. Then ask any woman her heart's desire and cast an eye on pedestrians and the after-dark crowd when the night's nippy and draw your own conclusion about the popularity of fur in the Southland. No matter the fur — mink or muskrat, sable or squirrel — this Fall it will have a casual easy-going air made luxurious by the addition of contrasting color furs, velvet bandings and collars, elegant braiding and glittering jet buttons. Shortie, three-quarter and full-length coats will be accompanied in the fur fashion parade with little pieces, such as brief jackets with just the merest suggestion of a sleeve, stoles and boleros, all perfectly in keeping with the new casual mood of furs. To achieve an all-over effect of softness, coat flares have been carefully modified. Typical is a full-length coat, absolutely flat at front and back, accented with giant patch pockets that dramatize the otherwise straight lines. In many instances the cuffs are designed to be folded back by the wearer to any desired depth and often the sleeve can be pushed up or down in a jaunty manner. Collars, featured for Fall '51, are popular in very small versions such as petal loop, tiny chin hugging and cardigan styles. When a larger collar design is featured it is usually convertible. Fur fashion news stemming from within the form of business. LEGAL NOTICES (Pub. Hair Styles Take Wing This Fall Colfeeurs take on wings this Fall with soft wing-like fullness at the sides of the head, and the top appearing perfectly smooth. Another new hair styling innovation will be the complete absence of a part. The hair will just be brushed smoothly back and manipulated into side puffs. A completely different coiffeur for Fall '51, this winged style should do much to flatter most every type of facial contour. FALL OHAPEAU — Cherry felt highlighted with black laquered feather wings makes elegant Fall bonnet. Its smooth curves are softened by a sheen black face veil. U. S. Army records show that one-third of its officers and eistedmen are married and that the typical Army family has no child. Nine out of 10 U. S. Designed for "Rencee the Riveter" as well as the housewife, are the sturdier outfits of boxy and rib fit denim jackets to top tapered denim snacks, adjustable wrap skirts, pedal pushers or culottes. DITIONAL TREND—The Fall 1951 bride will be traditionally formal, yet fashionably "different" in the gown she selects. This bride is of beloved satin with a net-filled neckline and scalloped vece that follow the latest fashion trend. If desired, the long vece can be removed after the wedding to make a strapless fit. Fall Brides Tend To Be Traditional Brides, attired in all the elegance of satins and laces, will win best wishes in wedding parties planned for Fall. For, according to the bridal experts, the traditional is due to return this Autumn and with it the lavishness of satins, dull and gleaming, and laces, in sumptuous Chantilly and Venise-type patterns, featured alone or in brilliant combination. Her gown will turn to the dramatic in styling for aisle-walking in classic white or a new frosting of pale pink or blue. Crinoline will make her gown's skirt stand-out romantically. Hips will be femininely exaggerated. Shoulders will be dainty and natural and sleeves will balloon out into giant puffs and leg o' mutton fashions. Even the bride striving for a more informal effect with an ankle length gown or convertible style (a bare-top dress plus a cover-up bolero or jacket) will find her choice in luxurious laces, moires, beaded failles and rich velveteens. this for thrills!
