Anaheim Students Away to College for Experiences They Will Never Forget EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the first in a series of articles concerned with Anaheim students at college. The termination of the articles will come when parents and friends no longer bring photos and information to the Gazette reporters' attention. SHELLEY SMITH (Santa Barbara State) Shelly Smith, 17, was graduated from AUHS this spring and now is attending class sessions at Santa Barbara State College. Shelley is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Cyril A. Smith of 623 North st. During her last year at AUHS she served as Girl's League president, vice president of the Orange County Red Cross, president of AUHS Red Cross council, and upon graduation was awarded a scholarship from Kwikset Locks, Inc. Her major is Education. NORMA JEAN TEWS (Occidental) Norma Jean Tews, 21, an of Anaheim's talented drama returned to school Monday to begin her senior year at Occidental College where she is a speech jor. Norma is a member of the pha sorority, of which she is vice president; and a member Zeta Phi Eta, a national sp fraternity, of which she is p dent. She is a graduate of of '48 at AUHS. Her parent Dr. and Mrs. Howard A. Tew 700 N. Helena st. ROSEMARY WOOD (Stanford) Koremary Wood, 20 year old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John A. Wood, 558 S. West st., is transferring from Occidental College to Stanford University this fall. She will enter as a junior and an Art major. Her two preceding years at Occidental, following graduation from AUHS in 1949, were spent brilliantly. She was tapped for Tiger Taps, a sophomore women's honorary organization; she was asked to join Gamma Kappa Theta sorority, which she did; she became the art editor of "La Encina," the Occidental year book; she was appointed publicity chairman of the World Student Service Fund and social chairman for her sorority. JACKIE CONE (University of Redlands) Jackie Cone, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett M. Cone of 548 S. West st., enters her senior year at the University of Redlands this fall. An education major, she still has time to be active in her sorority, Beta Lambda Mu, of which she is chaplain. Jackie is a graduate of AUHS, class of '48. JOANNE WOOD (University of Arkansas) Joanne Wood, 18, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Wood, left this week for the University of Arkansas, in Arkansas. Joanne, elected song leader and Safety and Welfare secretary on the student cabinet during her senior year at AUHS during 1950-51, plans to major in Business Administration. This will be Joanne's freshman year in college. RICHARD ARNOLD (USC) Richard Arnold, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Arnold of 1001 E. North st., is attending his sophomore year at the University of Southern California. Richard was graduated from AUHS in 1949 and is majoring in Architecture. He is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. DICK HOSKINS (Pomona College) The middle son, Dick, age will begin his sophomore when school opens. Dick is a College where she is a speech major. Her parent Dr. and Mrs. Howard A. Tew 700 N. Helena st. RONNY LEMCKE (Stanford) Ronny Lemcke, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Lehcke of 845 N. Citron st., left recently for Stanford where he begins his sophomore year, as a law major. He was graduated from AUHS in 1950. He is a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. The U.S. House of Representatives has the sole power of impeachment. The Senate has the sole power to try all impeachments. The Trusteeship Council of the United Nations adopts its own rules of procedure. There is only one cable between the U.S. and Asia. RICHARD ARNOLD (USC) Richard Arnold, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Arnold of 1001 E. North st., is attending his sophomore year at the University of Southern California. Richard was graduated from AUHS in 1949 and is majoring in Architecture. He is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. JACKIE WHITEMAN (Stanford) Jackie Whiteman, 18, who is well-known around Anaheim for her dramatic ability, is transferring from Pomona College at Claremont to Stanford University this fall to continue her studies in the dramatic field. Jackie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Whiteman of 761 N. Clemetine st., is a member of the class of '50 at AUHS. She will begin her sophomore year at Stanford where she hopes to obtain teacher's credentials and continue her speech and Drama majors. DICK HOSKINS (Pomona College) The middle son, Dick, age will begin his sophomore when school opens. Dick, a chology major, was manage the varsity football team at mona College. Claremont, year.
