THINK — Last week an Anaheim woman and her husband were hit down while attempting to cross the street. They were in a pedestrian zone and had the right-of-way. The on-coming traffic was supposed to stop. One car didn't! An elderly woman was killed. Her husband was injured. And a motorist has been arrested on suspicion of felonious manslaughter and hit-and-run driving. The one accident involved the lives of at least three people. The consequences of such an accident are much more tragic than they appear on the surface. An accident happens in a twinkling of an eye, but is devastating after effects are generally carried to the grave. In an accident last week in which a 16-year-old youth was killed instantly, three of his companions were seriously injured where their car ran off the road. Death Strikes as Woman Visits in Relative's Home Roselle Ann Romero, 50, a native of Yorba Linda and a resident of this area all her life, died suddenly and unexpectedly last night while the family was visiting with a brother-in-law on Verano rd. south of Garden Grove. The family home is in Atwood at the present time. She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Manuel Romero; three sons, two brothers; one sister and four grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced later by Hilgenfeld mortuary. If You Drive! Don't Drink Some folks become reckless maniacs when they slip behind the wheel of a car. TRAGIC — A 17-year-old La Habra girl is now in a mental hospital as a result of an accident in which a Marine was killed this summer. She will never be the same. Most critically injured in the crash on May 16, 16-year-old lad received possible skull fracture, broken ribs, possible fractured pelvis and a kidney injury. That boy will never recover from that accident. If he lives, he will be a human weather vane. His duties and jobs will become intense at the slightest change of weather. AVOIDABLE—Most of these traffic accidents are avoidable. They're caused by the human factor rather than the machine. Speed—senseless speed is responsible for a lot of these mishaps that could be avoided. People driving too fast at night when visibility is limited. Most of these deftly dealing crippling accidents are nightmares: SUICIDE—It's getting to be suicidal to try to cross Court Blvd., Manchester, 101 Highway or Orangethorpe avenue.
