You don't have to be "in the chips" to be sitting pretty these days. Chair Car seats on S.P.'s great new trains offer the best sitting there is, at the lowest rates around. You recline in luxurious ease, while the engineer drives you. (On long trips, leg rests provide a chaise-longue effect.)
Chair Cars on Southern Pacific's modern streamliners have been built with your comfort the first consideration. Dust-free, draft-free air-conditioning. No-glare fluorescent lighting. Soft-as-a-cloud foam-rubber seats. Lots of leg room and move-around room. Extra large windows. Feather-touch doors. Spacious washrooms.
That's why Chair Cars on S.P. streamliners are the most luxurious form of all low-cost transportation.

CALIFORNIANA—Jean Francois Galoup de la Perouse was the first foreign visitor of distinction to visit California. He arrived in Monterey Sept. 14, 1786, commanding the Frigates Boussole and Astrolabe. Although he remained in California only ten days, he is credited with introducing the potato to California through his gifts to the Missions. He provided an interesting and informative account of his voyage in his book—Voyages de la Perouse autour du monde—published in Paris in 1797 and translated into English in the London edition of 1799. He was very critical of the treatment of the Indians by the missionaries.

Lifetime Tract About Sold Out
Despite the fact that the tract is about "sold-out," the popular model "dream home" will continue to be open at 525 N. Yale in Fullerton, builders of the Lifetime Homes there revealed this week.
Both veteran and FHA terms are still available at the site although only a few homes are left to be sold, the builders reported.
The Lifetime Home Co. has its ready assured that the three-bedroom homes off the 700 block on E. Chapman will be the last company will offer on the current easy FHA or veteran ternis. In 1950-51 the company built and sold over 1000 homes in the county.
HEADLIGHT HINTS
Keep your own headlights properly adjusted and the bulbs periodically renewed to make the glare of the other man's lights less dangerous and annoying, advises the National Automobile club.
Remember that brightness is not the infallible test for headlight bulbs. If examined carefully, it frequently will be found that they should be replaced even though brilliant. The reason is that when the filament becomes bent it throws the beams out of focus and the result is a glaring headlight.

President of Electra Motors, was a president in 1931—Twenty Years Ago. He was Fullerton jaysee student body prexy... Bob Williams, the sporting goods store proprietor, was vice president ... Walter Taylor, the man who peddles the goods of the woods, was a commissioner... Vincent (Mutt) Dancer was the college men's athletic manager... And Richard Dugdale was publications manager... Mrs. Bob Williams was women's athletic manager... Herman Lenz, Anaheim's well-known gentleman farmer, was an outstanding athlete of that day besides being a thespian... And Dairyman Frank Douglas Wilsey was studying civil engineering. He became a milkman instead.
FOOTBALL—Arthur L. Nunn was coaching football at Fullerton in the long, long ago. There were men like Kermit Wood, the Fullerton city councilman, on that team... Joe Del Giorgio was an outstanding lineman... While Kenneth (Tub) Chester, the Anaheimer who runs a Long Beach transportation company executive, was a star center... Bob Williams and Herman Lenz were members of that team. So was Wendell Pickens who since has become athletic director of Orange Coast jaysee... And Herman Hoch, the Kwikset man, was the guy who was singing their praises... He was a real praise agent in them days.
PASSING PARADE—W. T. Boyce was the headman of the jaysees then. He's retired. Richard Warner Borst was the head of the humanities department. Cal Tech had just established such a department and the boys at Fullerton borrowed that one... L. O. Culp, one of Anaheim's first athletic coaches, was teaching school in Fullerton then. Albert W. Dowden was still coaching swimming and water polo. That's before he went on to become UC's aquatic mentor... Charles Ruby was teaching law and acquiring Anaheim real estate about that time... And Clarence Bishop was winning his spurs as the junior member of the coaching staff. He's a Lt. Commander that they should be replaced even though brilliant. The reason is that when the filament bedcomes bent it throws the beams out of focus and the result is a glaring headlight.
