$50,000,000 Aid Fund to be Given To Yugoslavia
WASHINGTON UP—The United States, Britain, and France have agreed to provide $50,000,000 in economic aid to Yugoslavia to support Marshal Tito's "contribution to the security of the free world."
The economic co-operation administration, in announcing this today, disclosed it already has allocated $29,800,000 as an initial installment to help the Yugoslavs buy cotton, coke and steel.
Britain shortly will announce, ECA said, its decision to make available $11,500,000 to help bolster Yugoslavia's economy.
The French government is also expected to announce its contribution in the near future. Informed officials said the initial French installment would be around $5,000,000 or $6,000,000.
The aid will be furnished in the next six months.
Compton Air School Fliers Killed as Plane Crash Lands
HANFORD (UP)—Three persons were killed and one was injured early today when a Compton Air college plane crashed in an alfalfa field six miles east of Hanford.
Constable Leonard Simas said the dead, all of Compton, were identified as Mrs. Martha Hatch, 28, John Cowle, 34, and Joseph Burzi, 26.
The injured man, E. D. Terry, 22, suffered compound fractures of one arm and was in fair condition at Kings County hospital.
Simas said Terry apparently was thrown clear of the wreckage and the other three were trapped inside.
The constable said witnesses told him the plane, a Stinson Station Wagon, appeared to have run out of fuel. They said it sputtered and coughed several times and the pilot, Cowle, dropped flares immediately before the crash.

Municipal Water District Annexation To Metropolitan Water District OK
Formal request of the Orange County Municipal Water district for annexation to the Metropolitan Water district, with attached water rights on the Colorado river, was approved by the district directors in session at Orange city hall late Monday, and was laid before officials of the Metropolitan Water district in Los Angeles this morning by a delegation headed by President Glenn P. Allen of Orange.
Accompanying the former Orange mayor were Director W. B. Hellis of the Irvine ranch, Attorney M. B. Wellington, legal counsel for the district; John A. Murdy, Jr., of Wintersburg, Farm Bureau water leader, and Ross Shafer of Tustin, water authority who has aided in past negotiations with MWD.
The group expected to discuss with the MWD officials terms of annexation that would be embodied in a contract between the districts, this contract to be the basis of a special election in the district, to decide the question of annexation.
The municipal water district's request for annexation will come before the MWD board of directors at a special meeting next Friday in Los Angeles. If approved by the board, the move will be immediately followed by proceedings to call the annexation election, it was announced. The election date may be fixed late next week. Dusty, the Boston Terrier, Won't Pay
Estate Tax on $50,000 Steak Bequest
CLEARWATER, Fla. UP—A probate judge ruled that Dusty, a little Boston terrier, doesn't have to pay federal estate tax on the $50,-000 left in trust for him by his millionaire mistress.
Mrs. Mary S. Morrow left that sum for Dusty when she died here Jan. 9, 1950.
Her friend, Mrs.-Gladys Hunter,
testified yesterday she made the bequest so Dusty "could continue to get the calves' liver, porter-house steaks and pork chops to which he was accustomed."
The Morton Plant Hospital协
ociation, which got the residue from
the Morrow estate after many beques, thought the estate tax on Dusty's $50,000 should be paid from that sum itself.
Judge Jack White ruled, however, that Mrs. Morrow intended for Dusty to have $50,000 clear, so the tax will have to come from the hospital's share.

U.S. EIGHTH ARMY HEADQUARTERS, Korea UP—An all-day battle raged today in the rain-soaked hills north of Yanggu on the east Korean front.
The rest of the front, which had flared with increasingly heavy clashes Monday, quieted under low clouds that often obscured entire ridgelines.
Rain and mist dampened the entire battle lines. Ground action was limited largely to sporadic artillery barrages and scattered fights between patrols. Most planes were grounded. Only 42 sorties were flown by the Fifth Air Force up to 6 p.m. (3 a.m. EST).
Ten B-29 Superforts from Okinawa bombed supply depots at Chinnampo by radar in the heaviest reported raid, more than 100 tons.
Reds took advantage of the weather and slipped small groups of infantrymen into position north of Yanggu for assaults on Allied ridge positions. The communist troops attacked at 9 a.m. (6 p.m. Monday EST). By noon two reinforced companies were trying to crack United Nations positions.

Truman Grants
Cold Reception To Ambassador
WASHINGTON (UP)—President Truman told the new Czechoslovak ambassador today the best way to restore cordial relations with the United States would be for his government to free William N. Oatis, Associated Press correspondent jailed there on spy charges.
In a meeting limited to five minutes, reporters were told Mr. Truman informed Dr. Vladimir Prochazka that relations between the U.S. and Czechoslovakia had "deteriorated ever since Jan Masaryk was murdered."
This plain talk when the ambassador called to present his credentials was reported afterwards by the president's press secretary, Joseph Short.
Short told news men that in the conversation between the ambassador and the president the ambassador said "he hoped to make our relations more cordial."
"The president replied that the best way he could make our relations more cordial was to send our Associated Press correspondent Oatis home." Short told a news conference.
