SAN FRANCISCO was the honeymoon destination of Mr. and Mrs.
Dudley Earl Bennett when they left the altar of Capilla de San Anonio chapel last night.
Garden Wedding Services Unite Virginia Casey-Dudley Bennett
Various shades of pink were combined effectively last night in the lovely chapel garden wedding services uniting Miss Virginia Maxine Casey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virl Casey of West st., Anaheim and Dudley Earl Bennett of Arlington.
Capilla de San Antonio was the setting for the double ring services read by the Rev. Dr. Alvin S. Haag of Redlands, and witnessed by 200 guests.
The one touch of white in the wedding party was in the exquisite imported sheer gown worn by the bride. Appliques of satin on the fitted bodice and full skirt were repeated, in tiny covered buttons to the waist. A double peter pan collar accented the neckline. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion net was held with a Victorian headpiece of satin, lace and pearls, and she carried two white orchids and lily of the valley with pale pink nylon net in tufts.
Maid of honor was Miss Vera Terkelsen of Buckeye, Ariz., who wore a gown of deep rose organdy in a style similar to that worn by the bride. Matching bonnets and mitts of nylon net trimmed with tiny velvet bows completed the ensemble. She carried a basket of pink pom-pom dahlias.
Bridesmaids were Miss Doris Uselman and Miss Mary Evelyn Yoder who wore gowns of pink organdy with matching bonnets and mitts and carried baskets of dahlias.
Wendell Harback of Riverside was best man and ushers were Neville Long of Santa Paula, Jack Weicker of San Francisco, Kreston Knudsen of Redlands and Thomas Carroll of Corona del Mar.
The pink runner leading to the altar was lined by candelbra decorated with pink dahlias and asters. Large bouquets of white gladiolus and chrysanthemums were arranged on the altar with bouquets of pink and white dahlias at each side.
Soloist was Mérle Harbach, brother of the best man, Miss Carol Hochuli was violinist and Miss Darlyne Hochuli, organist.
A large pink pedestal cake centered the bride's table set in the cappila tea garden. Assisting were Mrs. Maxaline and Mrs. Amma Dare Hamic, aunts of the bride; Mrs. Jack Eckerlin, who had charge of the guest book and Mrs. Orlo E. Fast and Miss Nancy Stair, the gifts.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Casey wore a dinner dress of mauve lace and chiffon with matching accessories, and a corsage of "cymbidiums." Mrs. Bennett wore pink lace with beige accents McBride, Leona DeWitt, Agnes Zinda, Irma Peltzer, Marie Lenain, Brigid Thomas, Alice Matejka and Mary Ellen Grady, all Past Presidents of Anaheim YLI.
The next dinner for the Past Presidents will be held in the Greenbrier Inn at Garden Grove on Thursday evening, October 4th.
Tomato Season At Full Peak For Canning
At the height of the tomato season thrifty homemakers are putting this plentiful fruit away for use during the winter months, says Marian Prentiss, Orange county home advisor. Canning is the most satisfactory method of preserving tomatoes, although they can be frozen if freezing storage space is plentiful.
Frozen tomatoes when thawed must be cooked to make them palatable, and the resulting product is no better than stewed or canned tomatoes; so do not freeze tomatoes unless you have ample freezing storage space that is not to be used for other foods. Thawed frozen tomatoes are not suitable for slicing because they assume a wilted soft texture.
The safest and easiest way to can tomatoes is by the water bath canning method. Detailed directions for canning all fruits and vegetables can be secured by writing the Agricultural Extension Service, 1104 W. Eighth st., Santa Ana, or by telephoning KImberly 2-6211, Extension 301, and asking for the Home Canning bulletin.
Although tomato juice can be frozen, this also is a rather extravagant use of freezing storage space; so again, the canning of tomato juice usually proves more satisfactory. The water bath method is also the best method of canning tomato juice. After the hot juice is packed into hot jars, a five-minute processing time is adequate for pint jars and ten minutes for quarts. Unlike most other fruit juices, tomatoes need this extra process in the water bath to destroy certain bacteria which occur in some soils and cause the tomato juice to spoil.
If you have ever observed a white powdery material in the bottom of canned tomatoes or tomato juice, you have seen evidence of
Each year about this time tons of newsprint, rivers of printer's ink and millions of words are poured forth on the subject of what the well-dressed girl will wear to college.
Bravely optimistic, fashion magazine staffs predict that this year's college girl will look neat and sweet, clad in plaid, piquant in pique or cute corduroy. They exhort her to cultivate the "clean, shining American look," remind her that this is the year for femininity with a capital F, urge her to be a belle in bell skirts over crinolines.
Department stores open their college shops with displays of what their buyers think college girls should wear, against a background of pennants, footballs and classroom impediments. Advisers are on hand, fresh from leading college campuses, to help confused freshmen choose their wardrobes lavishly.
For the rest of this month a disinterested observer might think the fate of the world hung on whether Betty College chooses the "little boy look," the "cleancut look" or the "shaggy dog look" for her 1951 college term.
All this effort on the part of the magazine staffs and ad writers likely will be a study in futility.
For what Betty probably will wear this year is just what she's been wearing on campus for Lo, these many years—blue jeans, preferably patched, a frayed shirt or old sweat shirt discarded by father or brother, bulky socks and moccasins.
This is provided, of course, that Betty goes to a women's college. The coed institutions often live up to the ad-writers dreams, as girls dress for a male audience, in class or out.
Mrs. Maxaline and Mrs. Amma Dare Hamic, aunts of the bride; Mrs. Jack Eckerlin, who had charge of the guest book and Mrs. Orlo E. Fast and Miss Nancy Stair, the gifts.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Casey wore a dinner dress of mauve lace and chiffon with matching accessories, and a corsage of cymbidiums. Mrs. Bennett wore pink lace with beige accessories and a corsage of shattered carnations.
When the couple left for a Santa Barbara and San Francisco honeymoon the bride was wearing a poudre blue suit with navy blue accessories and the orchids from her bouquet.
She is a graduate of Anaheim high school and Fullerton junior college, where she affiliated with Kappa Lambda Sigma sorority. She distinguished herself in both schools as an outstanding student of music and winner of many music awards from various groups. She was graduated in June from Redlands university. Her husband is a graduate of Riverside college and California Institute of Technology and is now an assistant highway engineer in San Bernardino. They will reside in Redlands. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clement Bennett of Arlington.
Mrs. Mattie Lou Maxwell is returning home from St. Joseph hospital today. She is being accompanied by her nurse.
Mrs. Maxwell's doctor has forbidden visitors for a while. Later she will welcome her many friends who have so kindly and thoughtfully remembered her during her illness with flowers, notes, letters, cards, telephone and personal calls.
Juice is packed into hot jars, a five-minute processing time is adequate for pint jars and ten minutes for quarts. Unlike most other fruit juices, tomatoes need this extra process in the water bath to destroy certain bacteria which occur in some soils and cause the tomato juice to spoil.
If you have ever observed a white powdery material in the bottom of canned tomatoes or tomato juice, you have seen evidence of the work of some of these spoilage bacteria that occur in tomatoes.
In addition to canned tomatoes and canned tomato juice, many fruit cupboards in Orange county are stocked with tomato catsup, chili sauce, tomato relish, and many other tasty tomato products.

In your home freezer is key in the bank," says Northern California Edison when you stop to think that is rather sound a deep freeze on the, the home-maker is able to buy in quantity and to take advantage of the "specials" at the market. The food will keep and so will the savings. Waste and spoilage is eliminated so the food dollar goes further. And there is year round good eating of the foods you want when you want them because with a home freezer, everything is in season no matter what the calendar says.
Summer is the very best time to buy and stock a home freezer and food budget savings will help pay for it. A home freezer banishes for ever the hot, laborious work of home canning. Right now, that is something to think about.
HOW BIG
Many types and sizes of home freezing units are available here in Anaheim, from the four cubic foot storage chest to the large, walk-in box with attached chill room. Mrs. Sam Christenson has an eight foot box which she finds adequate to serve the two people in her family. There is plenty of room to store ice cream, extra ice cubes, left over cooked foods and packaged meat and vegetables.
Mrs. O. R. Francis lives on a two acre ranch on the outskirts of town. She keeps a 16 foot box filled to capacity with the pork and beef raised on the ranch, and the quick frozen fruits and vegetables from a large garden.
In their spacious new country home now under construction on Rio Vista rd., the Ted Dinklers have installed a room size, walk-in box adjacent to the pantry.
While cost may determine the size to some extent, it is well to

know the amount of storage

extravagance and too small a

The department of agriculture
suggests five cubic feet for each

prove larger than necessary here
in California where there is a
year round supply of fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits.
One cubic foot of space holds about 40 pounds of fruit and sirup, or about 25 pounds of vegetables or about 38 pounds of meat.
