Psychologist from Norwalk gives talk to Rotary Clubmen
Dr. T. E. Beanith, clinical psychologist at the Norwalk Mental Hospital, yesterday outlined for the Anselm Rotary club the emotional disturbances which lead to peculiar sexual symptoms.
During his discussion of the "Problems of the Sexual Psychopath" Dr. Beanith expressed the opinion that Henry Ford McCracken, to be tried in Santa Ana for the murder of Patty Hall, not only is of low mentality but is of severe sexual problem. It was the doctor's opinion that he should have been held in hospitalization.
Dr. Beanith said there is no specific form of punishment or treatment to fit all sexual psychopaths. Each case must be considered individually. He pointed out that only about five per cent of sexual psychopaths may be considered in the criminally dangerous class.
Many sexual psychopaths, he said, actually have a grim feeling about their behaviour and may be relieved upon apprehension by the police.
Dr. Beanith was introduced by Dr. John Wilson.
Paul Cook, Mathias, now superintendent of schools, was a guest of Mr. Gassel and introduced Mr. Cook to the club.
Other Rotary men contributed one way or another to the meeting included Arval Morrison.

Note about Oil Drilling
Daniel Jin Lathrop and Duane Armistead Pleasing representatives in Anselm of the Sturge Penelope Co. said a tool of those sites with the Continental Oil Co. site most of Euclid ave. He was amazed to find that he wouldn't hear drilling operations on the Whish On Co. site in spite of the risk that the car was driven within 30 feet of the derrick. The hill at 10 pumps operating at the pumping site was far less than the reach of traffic passing the writer's home on S. Palm st. Chole up to the pumps, one notice no more noise than would be made by a common household sewing machine.
Appearance of the drill sites does not justify the rash eye-sore."
While the Derrick is up and in action (a period of 30 days (to six weeks) it is the worst moving part of the whole seton. After drilling is completed however, all that remains is a flow of meters which are no more conspicuous than a similar number of parking meters. If the well flows from natural gas pressure, the meters are all the machinery in evidence plus a collection of small tanks and gauges somewhat removed from the meters. These are screened from view by a lattice-work wall. The whole site then is tangleped and within a short time is invisible from a short distance.

"I didn't no such feeling," she responded. However, Chilla remained her examination with one or two more questions.
Frank Rospaw, Florida news-paper publisher, the next junior questioned by Chilla was excused when he flatly stated that he had formed an opinion that "the officers had caught the night man" when McCracken was arrested and the succeeding trial had not changed that opinion. Rospaw said he did not feel that he could set his opinion of McCracken's guilt aside and give the defendant a fair and impartial trial. He has, through personal work with police on murder cases some years ago, held an interest in such cases since, and has been interested in the McCracken case.

When natural gas pressure fails to keep the well flowing, low-temperature electrically-driven guards are installed. They are practically noiseless, and according to Lathrop, may be recouped in pits which would place them completely below ground level. Even if it fell above ground, they can easily be enclosed in temporary shelter which would not be offensive to the sight.
Objections that pumping sites will give off offensive odors are contested. Oil is not stored at the pumping sites but is piped directly from the well to tank farms so that, actually, Anaheimers would probably never get the oil pumped from the subsurface of their own properties.
In addition to all this, pumping sites are landscaped to hide the remaining machinery from public view, resulting in an area resembling a park more than an oil field.
Obviously, the Steele Co. is willing to go a long way to remove physical objections to oil drilling in Anaheim. The financial benefits to the city and its citizens can be of such importance as to make physical considerations pleasing.
Ropetons sands beneath the city which the Steele Co. figures Will make their test drilling worthwhile should, according to their calculations, produce flows upward of 1000 barrels per day for some 30 years and receding flows for some 20 more years after that. With the City of Anaheim receiving one-sixth royalty and a two per cent override royalty, consider what that amount of money could do for this town's tax rate! After a period of time it would be non-existent.
Bearing all these considerations in mind, it seems foolish to attempt building ware; paint burned or injured in the fire or their escape from the light quick spread of the flames.

MWD Annexation Would Include Nearly All of Orange County
It and when the Orange County Municipal Water district is annexed to the Metropolitan Water district, at a special election planned this fall, almost the entire county will be in the MWD, so far as assessed valuation of property is concerned. Less than four percent of the assessed valuation will remain outside of MWD, it was disclosed at yesterday's meeting of the water district in Orange. Total MWD valuation would be $415,964,480.
The Orange County Municipal Water district which, when formed, was expected to have an assessed valuation of about $196,000,000, actually has $248,296,825. It includes the six cities of Orange, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, La Habra, Placentin and Tustin, and virtually all unincorporated areas of the Santa Ana river basin.
Coastal Municipal Water district, which includes the cities of Brea, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, and the coastal strip from Newport Beach to South Laguna, including Costa Mesa, is already in MWD with a valuation of $79,702,225. The cities of Santa Ana, Anaheim and Fullerton, long members of MWD, have a combined valuation of $117,797,480.
Thus, with annexation of Orange County Municipal Water district to MWD, the county will be represented there with a total valuation of the total assessed valuation.

A U.N. spokesman said this was a reply to a one-hour and 13-minute attack by General Nam attempting to "discredit the independent effectiveness of Air and Naval power which the U.N. command would relinquish in an armistice."
In one breath the North Korean said they weren't doing much good and in the next he said the reds would run U.N. troops out of Korea except for Allied planes and warships.
The spokesman described Nam's speech as an attempt to "discredit the independent effectiveness of Air and Naval power which the U.N. command would relinquish in an armistice."
Nam II said his speech was a "detailed analysis." Nuckols said it was mostly an emotional attack.
The spokesman, Brig. Gen. William P. Nuckols, who attended the session, said Nam's speech was sprinkled with such words as "irresponsible," "belligerent," "abusive" and "intolerable."
Nuckols said Joy, in a one hour and six-minute reply, emphasized Air and Naval power in an effort to convince the reds of the reasonableness of the U.N. proposals for a demilitarized zone along approximately the present battle lines.
Joy, head of the U.N. delegation, pointed out that the U.N. would have to relinquish its air and sea supremacy in the event of an armistice. Therefore, he said, U.N. Ground Forces would have to be left in positions that could be defended.

twelve persons in the apartment building were painfully armed or injured in the impact their escape from the lightningick spread of the flames.
Three residents were unaccounted for at an early hour today.
Seventy-six year old Peter Nelson, who occupied an upper apartment, said he ran through fire-filled hall and heard screams coming from the unit occupied by Al Mason, one of the missing.
Mason's body was the 11th taken from the wreckage.
Nelson said parts of the foot turned into firebrands, fell on as he ran. He was nearly appaled as he paused to look for faithful dog Tippy.
William Gain saved his wife dropping her through a secondary window and then jumping after her. Mrs. Cain's hair is singed and she suffered multiple brushes. Her husband did it seemed like an eternity, but I suppose it all happened in fraction of time."

Air and Naval power in an effort to convince the reeds of the reasonableness of the U.N. proposals for a demilitarized zone along approximately the present battle lines.
Joy, head of the U.N. delegation, pointed out that the U.N. would have to relinquish its air and sea supremacy in the event of an armistice. Therefore, he said, U.N. Ground Forces would have to be left in positions that could be defended.
A U.N. communique said this "logical military reasoning" was "without tangible results."
Negotiators ended a two hour and 40-minute session in the sweltering heat of Kaesong still deadlocked on where to create a demilitarized zone.
The one tangible accomplishment was an agreement to meet again Wednesday at 11 a.m. (8 p.m. Tuesday EST).
Reflecting the day's lack of progress, the U.N. communique was the shortest since talks began July 10. It ran only 69 words.
He who would be well taken care of must take care of himself.

College Student Draft Deferment Ends on Monday
WASHINGTON UP—The blank-deferment of college students end next Monday on schedule. Selective Service said today. There definitely will be no extension of the deferment," a spokesman said. "If draft boards don't have reports as to the olastic standing or aptitude scores of college men by the end of school, for school authorities to mail scholastic findings to the draft boards, and for the educational testing service Princeton, N.J., to send to the California Rush Quick Aid to Hard Bitten Floridans
LOS ANGELES UP—Word has reached the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce that Florida is having its worst mosquito infestation in 25 years.
—So here's what the L.A. Jr. C. of C. did: It dispatches a "mercy flight" of gambusia affinis to the Miami Junior Chamber of Commerce. Gambusia affinis are very, very small fish that feed on mosquito larvae.
Fred Walker, Jr., president of the Junior Chamber here, sent this message along on American Air Lines plane last night with the shipment:
"Although most Southern Californians wouldn't know a mosquito if they saw one, the pest being considered extinct in this area for many years, local health authorities keep a small supply of these fish on hand for distribution in newly developed areas of the county, and consented to supply some for this emergency shipment.
"We consider it a privilege to do anything within our means to aid the less fortunate people of Florida."
It's a joke, son, sort of, that is.
When a man is really good he knows it, and so does his boss.
