Anaheim Gazette WEDNESDAY, MAY 23, 1951 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Salvation Army Asks for Articles The Salvation Army needs those castoff articles in Anaheim closets and garages. Brigadier Ranson D. Gifford, manager of the social service center which serves this area, announced this week. The Salvation Army leader said that a special fleet of Red Shield trucks will call at homes and offices here during the annual salvage week drive June 4 through 9. Discarded articles which they pick up will be reconditioned in workshops of the social service center, providing work therapy, meals, beds and financial assistance for needy and handicapped persons. Brigadier Gifford said. He explained that the throwaway materials provide the only means to continue the Salvation Army's social rehabilitation program since the social service department does not solicit money. O. H. Renner, chairman of Anaheim Salvage week tee, urged local residents Anaheim 4631 for a Red truck during the campaign.
