W. Irwin; 7862 E. First st. Plains for the further solicitation of pledge of money from each residence for a fire fund which will be used to build a fire station and furnish equipment were discussed. The station will be built on Chestnut st., near Cerritos on a lot already donated to the chamber. To date the returns have been very gratifying and the residents have been contributing a dollar or more but more volunteers to call on the homes are badly needed to speed the project up. Solicitors now working are Messrs. and Mines. Moreland, William Schuman and King Rutledge; Mrs. R. Ratte, John Gautschy, Luz Gargia, Conna E. Pollack, Oscar E. Dillon, Ernest Hood, Allonse Solis, Paul Magdelano and J. E. Pruett. A meeting of the fire committee will be held at Irwin's home at 7:30 p.m., May 24. Anyone interested is invited to attend.
