NATIONAL COMMENDATION has been given Anaheim Junior Ebell club for its untiring work in the cause of polio relief. Typical of the service given by the local group was the presentation last night of polio suction equipment to Orange County hospital. In addition the society gave generous checks to the Girl Scouts and La Palma Youth Center. Present Benefit Funds - Elect Officers At Junior Ebell Meeting Last Night

Brownie Troop 50 of Jefferson school is currently working on plaques for Mother’s Day gifts. The troop meets every Monday evening in the rumpus room at the home of their leader, Mrs. Leavitt Ford on Ellsworth st.

At Junior Ebell Meeting Last Night
Mrs. Kenton Wines was unanimously elected president of Anaheim Junior Ebell club for the coming year at a meeting held last night in conjunction with Orange County Federation of Women's clubs Junior Membership.
Also named to hold office were first vice-president, Mrs. Wesley Mendoza; second vice, Mrs. Charles Endicott; secretary, Mrs. Frederick Rusch; treasurer, Mrs. Harold Rankin; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Ralph Maas; curator, Mrs. John Ganahl; parliamentarian, Mrs. Loren Wagner; membership chairman, Mrs. McFarland Tolf and auditor, Mrs. Kenneth Banks.
Mrs. Virgil Doaust will replace Mrs. John Richmond, who is moving to Norfolk, Virginia, as ways and means chairman.
An important part of the meeting was the presentation of benefit funds to various local philanthropies by Mrs. Wesley Mendoza.
John McKitterick was presented with the polio suction machine and one Bennett positive pressure attachment. These are to be used by polio patients throughout the county and will be available through Orange county hospital.
Generous checks were also presented to Mrs. William Bushman, president of the Girl Scout Council; Mrs. Ruthe Works Martinson, representative from Anaheim Public Library and Ernest Ousten, from the La Palma Recreation center.
Mrs. D. B. Baker read a certificate of appreciation from the national president of the March of Dimes to the Anaheim Junior Ebell members for their outstanding work in the polio field. This was presented to Mrs. Baker at a recent luncheon at Knott's Berry Farm.
Program chairman, Mrs. Glenn Lehmer, presented the very charming and talented Betty Roadman, speaker for the evening. Mrs. Roadman has recently returned from a trip through the middle west and gave briefs on the Broadway plays that she had attended. She recited poems from Don Blanding and Mary Davenport.

Sunday School Teachers Needed, Mariners Told
Mariners' Executive Board met last Friday evening in the Blue Room of the Presbyterian Church. Hosts for the evening were Skippers Bill and Susan Talevich, who served a delicious spaghetti dinner prior to the business meeting.
Mariners' District Convention to be held May 19 and 20 at Pacific Palisades, was discussed and several couples present made plans to attend.
The Skippers again stressed the need for more Sunday School teachers, both regular and substitute. Several present volunteered to help; however, it was stated that even more were vitally needed.
Thomas Jefferson P-TA will be represented at the San Diego State convention Thursday by Mesdames Phillip Bird, Fred Krastel, Raymond Jordan, Leavitt Ford and Robert Moor.

County Federation Junior Membership Guests of Anaheim Junior Ebell Club
Installation of new county officers highlighted a meeting last night of Orange County Federation Junior Membership, with Anaheim Junior Ebell club acting as hostess to an attendance of more than 200 members and guests.
Mrs. Ray Ortez, outgoing president, conducted the business meeting. Mrs. James Cavanaugh, of Riverside, president of Southern District Junior Membership was installing officer.
Seated were Mrs. Robert Bidwell of Santa Ana, president; Mrs. Grover Hermes of Fullerton, vice-president; Mrs. Timothy Halloran, Seal Beach, recording secretary; Mrs. M. J. Barnett, Buena Park, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Harold Rankin, Anaheim, treasurer; Mrs. Winifred Tinsley, Huntington Beach, parliamentarian; Mrs. Martin Benson, Laguna Beach, auditor.
Participating in the reciprocity meeting were clubs from Anaheim, Barber City, Brea, Buena Park, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, La Hebra, Midway City, San Clemente, Santa Ana and Seal Beach. Mrs. Ray Ortez introduced Mrs. Thelma Burns, outgoing Junior Advisor and each of the clubs, in turn, presented her with a lovely gift in appreciation of her services during the past two years.
Wrist corsages were given each officer by Mrs. Ray Ortez as Mrs. Cavanaugh outlined their duties for the coming two year term.
Special guests introduced were Mrs. Robert Turner of Riverside, senior advisor of Southern District Junior Membership; Mrs. Roy D. Lay, Riverside, senior advisor of California State Federation of Womens clubs; Mrs. Paul Van Sistine, first vice-president of Southern District; Mrs. Merritt Caulkins, a member of the advisory board of Southern District; Catherine Harbert, newly elected president of the County Senior Federation.
Attending the Lions International State convention held April 27-28 at Palm Springs were Mr. and Mrs. Leavitt Ford and daughter, Sharon. Mr. Ford is Deputy District Governor. Included in the Anaheim group were Warren Schultz, local president, Rex Coons, "Vic" La Mont, Judge and Mrs. John Shea, Mr. and Mrs. La-Verne Roquet and Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Hansen.
Friends of Mrs. Mona Price will be glad to know she has moved to 116 S. Olive st., Anaheim. She formerly resided at 747½ N. Olive. One of Anaheim's oldest residents, Mrs. Price has been here 32 years.

40th Anniversary of Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid Society Tomorrow
Special afternoon services and a reception in the parish hall have been planned in observance tomorrow of the Fortieth anniversary of the Ladies Aid Society of Zion Lutheran church.
Organized by the Rev. and Mrs. H. G. Schmelzer on May 4, 1911, the society had as its first president, Mrs. William Gerdes. Mrs. John Molt is present head of the organization. Four charter members are Mrs. Elizabeth Groom, Mrs. E. O. Henning, Mrs. Adolf Plagel, and Mrs. Anna Marten.
Church services at 2:30 pm will be conducted by the Rev. H. G. Schmelzer and the Rev. E. H. Pflag, who will deliver an address, "Forty Years in the Lord's Service." Open House will follow in the parish hall. Committees members are Mrs. Hattie Pierard, Mrs. Lydia Buchelt, Mrs. Lea Schrank, Mrs. May Heuer, Mr. Fred Meier, Mrs. Walter Kempf and Mrs. Anna Brock.
Evening Ascension Day service will be held at 7:30 tomorrow evening in the church with the Replug's topic to be, "When Day Work Is Done."

Brownie Play Day Set for May 5
Fun and activity will predominate at La Palma Park as 2nd and 3rd grade Brownies participate in Play Day, May 5. "To get the ball rolling Saturday morning, Mrs. Donald Dickenson, chairman, reports that registration will begin at 10:30. Each leader will be responsible for name tags of her troop and money for the noon lunch."
Relay and guessing games have been planned so that Brownies from Benjamin Franklin, Cypress, George Washington, Horace Mann, Katella, Lincoln, Loara, Los Alamitos, Magnolia, Saint Boniface, Thomas Jefferson, and Zion Lutheran will feel better acquainted.
The senior scouts will lead group singing and games.
A quiet time has been reserved for a flag ceremony and story hour. Leaders may submit names of girls who will be under their supervision by calling Mrs. Keith Murdock, program chairman, or Mrs. Dickenson.
