For Results and Quick Heavy Snows Trap Anglers FRESNO (UP)—Heavy weekend snows trapped hundreds of California trout fishermen in the mountains east of Fresno. One report said 750 were marooned at Huntington Lake, 45 miles northeast of Fresno by 16 inches of snow. They were said to be in no danger. Two hundred fishermen who had gone into the Sierra Nevada for the opening of the trout season were caught on a highway 55 miles east of here as they tried to come out Saturday night. State Highway Patrolmen and Fresno county sheriff's officers worked all Saturday night to reach them. E. T. Scoyen, superintendent of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, called it "the biggest rescue operation in the history of the two parks." He said 100 cars still were snow-bound in Kings Canyon Sunday night. Those caught in the snow found refuge in resorts and summer cabins. Rescue crews following snow plows brought two trucks, gasoline, blankets, doctor, nurses, and food. The storm took one life. Jerry Levine, San Diego, drowned after his boat capsized in choppy waters. VOGELER WELCOMED HOME BY FAMILY—Robert A. Vogeler, 39-year-old American business man who was released from a Hungarian prison (April 28), is embraced by his wife, Lucile (right) and his sister-in-law, Pia Eykens (left) on his arrival in Vienna for a joyful reunion with his family. One of his sons is at right in background and the other can be seen in foreground with back of head to camera. Vogeler was convicted in Budapest last February on charges he was a spy. His release from prison was obtained by the U.S. government in a deal with Hungary. Red Prisoner Warns Nation Of Conspiracy VIENNA (AP)—Robert A. Vogeler began packing today for the last leg of his homeward journey from a Hungarian prison—a trip to the United States. He will leave as soon as he is sufficiently recovered from the Salvation Army Salvage Drive to Aid Anaheimers Discarded articles which Anaheim residents contribute during the annual Salvation Army salvage drive here June 4 through 9 will provide a reservoir of help for this community in time of emergency. Reconditioned in workshops of the Salvation Army Social Service Warns Nation Of Conspiracy VIENNA (AP)—Robert A. Vogeler began packing today for the last leg of his homeward journey from a Hungarian prison—a trip to the United States. He will leave as soon as he is sufficiently recovered from the long solitary confinement which has left him so nervous that he can hardly talk five minutes without cracking. "Plans have not been definitely completed, but he will certainly go some time this week," said Col. Grant Williams, representative in Austria for the International Telephone and Telegraph company, of which Vogeler is a vice-president. Vogeler will be accompanied by his beautiful blonde wife and their two sons, 11, and 9, who have not seen the United States for five years. Vogeler mustered his shattered strength to deliver what he called "a message" to the American people yesterday before a television camera and a microphone. He broke down once but insisted on continuing. "I am convinced," he said, "that my incident (arrest by Hungarian communists as a spy and saboteur) is just one of a series of planned attacks on democracy. "The American people must be made aware of what can happen. I feel that every individual American should realize that what has happened to me can happen to them if we don't all band together to destroy these enemies of individual freedom." Discarded articles which Anaheim residents contribute during the annual Salvation Army salvage drive here June 4 through 9 will provide a reservoir of help for this community in time of emergency. Reconditioned in workshops of the Salvation Army Social Service center serving this area, the throwaway articles will be returned to this community in time of need under a plan announced this week by the Salvation Army. Brigadier Ranson D. Gifford, manager of the social service center said that the Anaheim Salvage week committee, a year-round organization composed of local citizens, may requisition clothing and other articles in the event of a disaster or to help needy persons. The social service center will dispatch a special Red Shield truck in answer to such appeals for help, Brig.-Gifford said. During the salvage week campaign, a fleet of trucks will call at homes and offices here to pick up salvage materials. The discards will be reconditioned in the social service center's workshops, providing work therapy, meals, beds and financial assistance to thousands of needy and handicapped persons. Urgently needed are used clothing, furniture, home appliances, raidos, bedding dishes newspapers, magazines and miscellaneous articles. O. H. Renner, chairman of the Anaheim Salvage Week committee urges local residents to telephone Anaheim 4631 for a truck to call for discards.
