Braune, 320 North Basque, Fullerton, who recently received probationary appointments as California Highway Patrolmen, will begin an intention. RALPH De PALMA Rotary to Hear De Palma Monday One of automobile racing's greatest figures, Ralph De Palma, will speak before the Anaheim Rotary club on Monday, April 23. Widely remembered for his exploits in hill climb, dirt track, board, brick, concrete and road races. De Palma is the only man ever to have driven competitively for 27 consecutive years. Of the 2889 races in which he competed during his career he holds victories in 2557. Now associated with the Public Relations Department of General Petroleum Corp., marketers of Mobilgas and Mobiloll, De Palma is touring Southern California's civic and service clubs on behalf of driver safety. His colorful accounts of automobile racing's early days have been well received by Kiwanis, Rotary, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Lions and other similar groups throughout the area. In conjunction with his talk, De Palma will present a color motion course Monday (April 23) at Patrol Academy here. De Palma captured the 500-mile Indianapolis Race title in 1915, finishing ahead of such established stars as Eddie Rickenbacker, Wild Bob Burman, Dario Resta and Louis Chevrolet. A year earlier, he had come into his own by defeating Barney Oldfield in the Vanderbilt Cup race at Santa Monica. Recently the Helms Athletic foundation honored De Palma by presenting him their Award of Highest Merit for "his contribution to automotive racing and his performance as one of the greatest drivers of all time." Deputation Team At Calvary Baptist The Redland's University Deputation team is to be the special guest this weekend at the Calvary Baptist church, Broadway at Citron. The team will be led by the Rev. Clarence Downing, the University Chaplain, and will be composed of the following individuals: Bob Greaves, Los Angeles; Virginia Shiraishi, Los Angeles; Shirley Gardner, Nevada; Larry Jackson, Arizona; Bob Osterhouse, Fresno; Joan Hynes, Redlands; Johnny Carlson, Indio; Rae McClellan, Riverside. They will arrive on Saturday evening and will be the special guests at a High School-College banquet at 8:30 at the church. At 8:00 the team will conduct a fun social. (AP)—A new type harvester windrows grain and allows it to dry before threshing. After drying, the windrowed grain is picked up with a regular forage harvester, chopped and blown into self-uploading wagons which carry the straw to the thresher. Agricultural engineers at North Carolina State college here say the main advantage of the new method is that it results in better quality grain because the moisture content is lower. nine-week basic training course Monday (April 23) at the Patrol Academy here. This selection was made by Dr. Joseph Ziff of Los Angeles, President of the state optometric group.
