MEN BEWARE! SHE CAN SHOOT—Carol Barnett is only 17, and as anyone can plainly see, she
girl, but she's dynamite with a rifle. Last Saturday she won the trophy she is receiving above

THE Hornets sparkled. Omaha team took the championship, giving his first year as a coach—more than that, his team eschewed a tradition when his vicious cagers grabbed him and fed him into the pool. This war when the Swarm clinched Eastern conference pennant, repeated the ceremony, but Haley was prepared—he wore a shirt and a pair of dunces for the dunking. Last year ruined a perfectly good suit establishing a tradition.
LOSEUPS—Curtis Horn, they takes his fraternal work mostly. That's the way all lodge members should... Fire Chief Stringer and Police Chief Stevenson are getting the job on other cities by puttingheim civilian defense firefighters and policemen through their paces. As far as we know, heim is the first to buckle in to the serious work of training for any eventuality... Cliff Don undoubtedly will write a letter in jaysee track-and-field at Santa Ana. John Ward gets a lot from the Anaheimer Haven't heard anything else at Alex Maase, the Anaheimer gster who had aspirations to be a jockey. But they tell us Merlin Volzke, Orange's half-athlete, has traded his bat silks for a rifle and a uniform Dorothy Kuchel was one of Barton Hi's girls' league representatives to the Phoenix connoisseur. It's been 10 years Couple Mack and his Phila-ia Athletics trained in beau-la Palma park. A lot of Ana-ers remember the banquets nor of Mr. Baseball that Mr. Ball didn't attend... Inci-ly, George Caster, who is the White Sox batting-practicer, was a member of that same gang of A's... Frank Gabler is working out with the Angels at Fullerton. He was in line for the job Castor got. "That's a good job," Gabler said as he told about pitching batting practice. "It pays $4000 a year, and all you do is throw 30 minutes a day. There's no pressure — no responsibility—that's what makes it nice."
PEOPLE—They say that Chuck Burrows and Rodger Glenn are lads who are destined to do things agricultural-wise... Well, then, so are Louis Stevens and Robert Van Dyke. They are a couple of fine lads who are actively engaged in bringing fame to Anaheim's future farmers... Lee Hanson will tell you that the time when it was an insult to call a man a farmer has long passed. A farmer to day, is a scientist... Mutt Manos might not be a 600-bowler, but he enjoys the game a whole lot more than some of the experts... Al Cotter is a fair-and-midlin' bowler. He's a mighty nice guy't boot... John C. Tuffree's shoes will be hard to fill. After 30 years with the Anaheim Union Water co., he steps aside and lets someone else try to fill his shoes. Tuffree knew what water really meant to Southern California. In passing let us congratulate him on having done an outstanding job and wish him happiness and contentment.
NITECAP—No man has been able to steal a kiss without an accomplice.
Seaweed is processed for the production of such things as agar-agar, idine, cattle feed and manure.
Speakers from the Anaheim Tabernacle spoke at an assembly Tuesday morning. They were Mr. Herman Voss, Mr. Don DeVoss and T. W. Wilson.

Monday, the eighth grade social studies classes saw slides on all the California missions taken by Mrs. Bonney last summer. This correlated with their California history course.
School was dismissed early today to enable the students to attend the Lincoln school Kite Day.

Farm Labor May Receive Attention From Legislature as Session Opens
SACRAMENTO (PA)—The great fear of California farmers—a labor force too small to meet defense production goals—is reflected in bills introduced in the first half of the 1951 legislature.
One measure, termed the California Food and Fiber Production act of 1951 (SB 1193, Hatfield), sets up a California Farm Production council.
A companion bill (SB 1194, Hatfield), creates an Emergency Farm Production act.
The primary purpose of both bills is to assist in the recruitment, placement, transportation, housing and sustenance of farm labor.
Still another measure introduced in the Assembly, creates an eight-man Agricultural Labor Resources board to advise the governor and the legislature on farm labor conditions.
The bill (AB 2547, Begin and Hansen) proposes that two county supervisors from a farming area, two representatives of agricultural interest, two labor representatives and two members of the general public serve on the board.
The labor contractor legislation (SB 1199, Hatfield) broadens the definition of a contractor to include anyone who recruits, solicits, supplies or hires workers in behalf of an employer or anyone who, for a fee, furnishes board, lodging or transportation to mighty farm laborers.
