Half-Dozen Gl’s Fulfill What Most Dream About: Each Has Date with Visiting French Hose Model
WASHINGTON (AP)—Six Gl’s got a break last night that every Gl must dream about; they had dates with six beautiful French models.
The Gl’s, at Walter Reed hospital recuperating from injuries, had champagne with the girls at the French Embassy, went to a show and later, had dinner.
Their reactions varied.
Pfc. John Ahmann of Eyota, Minn., said worriedly: “I’ll have to phone back home to explain all this before any news story gets out to Minnesota.”
On the other hand, there was Pfc. Lawrence, Walda of New Britain, Conn. Walda posed happily with all six girls clustered about him. When one of the girls said she was wearing a perfume brand No. 5, he calmly reported:
“I’m wearing Wolf No. 7.” Probably was, too.
The girls are over here representing a hosiery firm. It seems six French designers each made a pair of hose, and each selected the model he thought would show same off to best advantage.
The consensus, arrived at only after prolonged deliberation and considerable staring: It’s a six-way tie.
The other Gl’s on hand were Cpl. Gerald Auger of Lewiston, Me.; Pvt. Robert Grant of Chicago Heights, Ill.; Cpl. Paul Rogers of Cincinnati, and Pfc. Robert Hough of Rockhille, S. C.
Some of the boys had been hit in Korea. But Grant, who is 6 feet 4½ inches, said he was no hero. “Believe it or not, I fell down.”
Rogers is spending 21 months in the hospital. “I dived into a swimming pool down in Florida. As I was coming up, another guy was coming down.”
As for the girls, they seemed to find the Gl’s okay.

Newsman Tells His Own Success Story
Throuhout the years there have been numerous success stories of how this man or that man started from nothing and finally achieved prosperity. But the best of all success stories is where a man in a run-down condition finally gets to where he feels wonderful again. William Bogard, newspaper reporter in Sulphur Springs, Texas, has such a story to tell. Yes, now that Mr. Bogard is taking HADACOL, he says, "I wish I could tell my story to every man and woman in the country who is now suffering as I was suffering." Mr. Bogard was suffering a deficiency of Vitamins B1, B2, Niacin and Iron, which HADACOL contains.
Here is Mr. Bogard's own statement telling how HADACOL helped him:
"Two years ago, at age 40, I was convinced that nothing remained..."
Wm. Bogard is taking HADACOL he says, "I wish I could tell my story to every man and woman in the country who is now suffering as I was suffering." Mr. Bogard was suffering a deficiency of Vitamins B1, B2, Niacin and Iron, which HADACOL contains.
Here is Mr. Bogard's own statement telling how HADACOL helped him:
"Two years ago, at age 40, I was convinced that nothing remained for me in life. The most encouraging words I ever heard were: 'Maybe you will get straightened out after a while.' The only thing that really mattered to me was how I felt and the fact that my apparent decline had brought my many dreams and aspirations in total ruins before my feet.
"I heard and read many stories and testimonials concerning HADACOL, but, unfortunately for me, I didn't take any of them seriously. I considered these testimonials to be from fictitious people with imaginary ills who talked solely for money. How wrong I was! In spite of my wariness, I decided to give HADACOL a try. I took great care that no one knew I was taking it because I feared their ridicule.
"I took three bottles of HADACOL before I began to feel its effects. After that, my progress was steady and sure. My appetite picked up. I not only ate at meal time, which I had not been doing before, but I enjoyed in-between-meal snacks of delicacies which I had long since forgotten.
"I wish I could tell my story to every man and woman in the country who is suffering as I was suffering; I wish I could let them know and make them believe that what I say is all the truth and none fiction."
Remember HADACOL is sold on a strict money-back guarantee. And so inexpensive, Trial-size bottle only $1.25. Large family or hospital size $3.50. If your druggist does not have HADACOL, order direct from The LeBlanc Corporation, Lafayette, La.

State Dept. Says USSR Has 35 Div.
WASHINGTON (P)—The Soviet Union now has a fully armored or mechanized force of 35 divisions in East Germany and Poland alone, the State Department says, and has restored East German railways which would serve as supply lines from Russia in the event of war.
Additionally, the State Department report based on a "current intelligence" said, the East German communist party on Jan. 15, began a large scale purge of its ranks aimed at eliminating weak links.
The department's Office of Public Affairs gave this information in an official publication yesterday picturing the background of recent Soviet pressures on Germany.
The report came just when the Big Four powers appeared to be nearing agreement on plans for a "peace" conference. It questioned whether Russia really
KOREAN WAR
Continued from Page 1 that Allied forces would attempt a new drive across the Parallel 38 border into red Korea.
When MacArthur spoke, the Allies already had kicked off on a renewal of the "limited offensive" that started Jan. 25 and was stalled only last week by a massive red push that failed.
MacArthur recalled that President Truman had said the general should make the decision whether to cross the border again. But he told war correspondents at the front:
"I shall not arbitrarily execute that authority . . .
The Allied commander indicated that "if and when" Allied troops reach the border, he would give consideration to any "cogent political reasons against the crossing."
The British are leaders in the opposition to crossing 38 again.

How to make good telephone service even better....
Give ten times to answer
How many times have you answered the telephone just as someone hangs up? You know it's not always possible to get to the telephone the moment it rings. So best way to make sure you get the person you're calling is to give him a full minute to answer.
Good way to stretch your telephone dollar
When you make a Long Distance call, you can get the most for your money if, ahead of time, you make notes of the things you want to talk about. Then, during your call, jot down the things you want to make sure to remember.
With the right planning, you can say as much in a three-minute call as in an exchange of letters. And did you know you can make a three-minute station call, clear across the country, for just $2.00, plus tax, after six in the evening.
When you take the kinks out of your telephone cord, you help protect your own service. For too many twists may break some of the tiny

When you take the knicks out of your telephone cord, you help protect your own service. For too many twists may break some of the tiny wires in the cord, causing you to hear a "frying" noise. Let the receiver unwind by itself...then keep the curls out by remembering not to put a turn in the cord as you handle the receiver.
