PAIRING OFF is a natural for the Heinz-Karcher clan. When Jerome and Janelle Karcher were born on Jan. 24 they were greeted with delight by their twin aunts, Lucille and Lauretta Heinze. The picture was taken on the lawn of the Karl Karcher home, 700 N. Clementine, following the younger twins baptism. Not to be excluded, Mr. Karcher boasts twin cousins on his side of the family.

Pharoah's Daughter Subject of Bible Section Meeting
"Pharoah's Daughter" was the subject of an inspiring and informative address presented yesterday afternoon to members of the Ebell club Bible section when H. W. Baker, teacher of the Coworkers Bible class of the Presbyterian church appeared as guest speaker.
Mr. Baker-told of the early life of the young woman who was later to become the foster mother of Moses. His interesting report covered the early girlhood of the athletic girl whose favorite sport was lion hunting. In his coverage of her finding Moses in the river, he offered his listeners an insight into the kind and warmhearted nature of the remarkable woman whom he credited the most remarkable woman ruler of ancient history.
Covering her reign as ruler of Egypt, a position she held for 34 years, he stated that she had given Egypt the most prosperous period in its history. Concluding, the speaker added that she let it be known that she was the equal of any man and frequently dressed in men's clothing for her public appearances.
Special music for the afternoon was presented by Marilyn Miller, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Max Besler at the piano.
Mrs. Ted Bourne acted as program chairman for the afternoon.

Wanted ... one publicity chairman—no experience necessary, to take over the position formerly occupied by Gene Alley, who transferred to Pasadena City college at the end of the semester. So far commissioners, haven't found the right man for the job, but they are still looking.
Contest
Want to win $100? Silly question, who dosen't??? It's very simple, just write a masterpiece and you're in like Flynn. Of course there are a few other requirements; you have to be a graduate of a junior college, a temporary member of Alpha Gamma Sigma for at least two semesters and submit two typewritten copies of at least two and not more than four selections of your original works. If you've passed up to this point you should then be warned that applications must be in to Miss Kathryn Frank, Placer College; Auburn by April 15, 1951 and that competition will be keen as only one student in the state will win the award.

Menus that are arranged so that all the cooked items can be cooked by the same method are time savers and are a way of cutting down fuel bills as well.
Oven meals are a special boon because mother is free to care cooking. There is no harm done to an oven meal if dinner time is later than planned and food cooked in this manner is almost certain to be very nourishing and easily digested by children.
For the way in which she uses her oven to full advantage, we name Mrs. Robert C. Storm "good cook of the week."
There are four reasons for Mrs. Storm's interest in oven meals: six year old Sharon Ann, four year old Susan, Tommy who is 17 months old and Mary Ellen who is all of four months.
It takes a definite plan of action to keep confusion out of this household explains Mrs. Storm who is a registered nurse. It required all of her nursing know-how to see the whole family through a simultaneous bout with the flu this month which illustrates her need for streamlined cooking methods.
Now that pork chops are high on the list of good buys, Mrs. Storm serves them often. She works them into her oven meal muffins to give a meal taste and peal, and my, how good the chicken smells the minute the oven door is opened!
To prepare appetizing over meals, the cook needs a variety of suitable oven ware. Very timely is the Nadorff Hardware store's special sale of round Pyrex can dishes. For a limited time, the price has been reduced from 59 cents.
This grand baking dish is two inches deep and eight inches diameter and the lid of the two quart Pyrex casserole dish fits perfectly. A two year guarantee states that the dish will be replaced free of charge if oven he causes its breakage. Although it is primarily a cake dish and some excellent cake recipes come with it, this versatile piece of ovens can be used to cook smoky roasts, vegetables, bread, rolls and casseroles.
Homemakers who have trouble achieving an even browned cake will be especially

Gradually add the sugar to the egg, beating until sugar is dissolved. Add the sifted dry ingredients. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Pour into a greased eight inch pan and bake in a moderate oven at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. The pudding is tender, nutty and cake-like.
This second pudding recipe has been handed down through many generations of Mrs. Storm's family. She learned of it from her mother who got it from her mother and so it went. It is unusual because the batter is poured into a syrup and baked.
