MR. AND MRS. JAMES C. DODSON, Jr. pause at altar of Zion Lutheran church before departing for reception following their marriage Sunday afternoon. They later left on an undisclosed honeymoon destination.
Late Afternoon Rites Unite Miss Bettyanne Fluegge-James C. Dodson, Jr., at Zion
One of the loveliest weddings of this season was solemnized at Zion Lutheran church Sanday when Miss Bettyann Fluegge, became the bride of James C. Dodson, Garden Grove.
Soft candlelight illuminated the altar, decorated with baskets of white chrysanthemums, and gladiolus combined with white stocks. The Rev. Edwin Pflug officiated at the double ring service.
The bride repeated her vows in an exquisite gown of traditional white satin with the fitted bodice in delicate lace. Gathered at the waistline, the satin skirt fell in soft fullness and ended in a long sweeping train. A cap of point de Venise lace held her fingertip veil edged in deep lace and she carried a bouquet of white cymbidium and a large lavender orchid surrounded by small lavender orchids. She was given in marriage by her father.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Harold Richter, the bride's sister, who wore a gown of aqua net with a lace yoke and short cap sleeves. The gathered skirt fell from a fitted bodice and she carried a bouquet of pink carnations with a matching floral head piece.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. James Stevens, sister of the bridegroom and Miss Luwana Powell, a close friend of the bride. They wore gowns of pink and lavender nylon net respectively and carried carnations.
Little Miss Bonney Barnett of Burbank, a cousin of the bridegroom, was flower girl and wore a floor length dress of lavender taffeta. Her basket was filled with white chrysanthemums and a white wreath circled her hair.
James Stevens, brother-in-law to the bridegroom, was best man and ushers were Basil Bruster and Marvin Fluegge.
The young couple knelt for the nuptial blessing as Dave Forney sang "The Lord's Prayer" accompanied by Miss Marilyn Schimming. The solo "Because" was sung preceding the service.
Reception followed the ceremony in the social hall, decorated with pink and white flowers.
The bride's cake centered the table with lighted candles flanking the arrangements. Assisting were Mrs. Walter Fluegge, aunt of the bride; Mrs. A. Bradley, an aunt of the bridegroom; Mrs. Lois Fluegge and Miss L. Zlaket.
Receiving guests, Mrs. Carl Fluegge wore a cocoa brown dress with accessories in brown and a corsage of yellow roses. The bridegroom's mother chose a grey dress with black accessories and a corsage of roses.
When the couple left for their honeymoon trip the new Mrs. Dogson was wearing a navy blue suit and pink accessories. She is the daughter of the Carl Fluegge's of 11229 S. Euclid ave., and attended Garden Grove high school. Her husband, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Dodson, Sr., of P.O. Box 335, Garden Grove, is also a graduate of Garden Grove schools and is employed at Knotts Berry Farm as foreman of producers. They will reside in this area.
The meeting is called for 2:00 p.m. at the Women's Clubhouse, Fouth and Baker streets, in Santa Ana.
For those desiring to come early and meet with old friends the Clubhouse will be open at 1:00 p.m.
At five o'clock a pot-luck dinner will be served. Members and guests are reminded to bring their own table service. Coffee will be furnished by the host society.
