The independent liberal newspaper said in an editorial: “If the United States is to spend an extra $18 billion on defense it is to be hoped that not much of this will go on increased American propaganda. “Some governments, like some people, are the worst advocates of their own cause. “If the American record is studied in international affairs, it is a respectable and even inspiring one. The trouble comes when America itself begins to interpret it. “The voice of America comes booming out, and those who hear it have second thoughts. It has particularly unfortunate results in China, where the American Republicans would like to roar louder. “The voice of America has convinced many Chinese that America can see no harm in Chiang Kai-shek and that it would like his model RR Men Visiting Clubs Broadening their own technical skill, members of the Anaheim Model Railroad Society are presently engaged in visiting outstanding model railroad groups in the Southern California area. Last night four club members, Ted Bourne, Chester Brooks, Eugene Cranston, and Albert Cranston, visited the Pacific Sea-board Model Railroad club in Los Angeles. The club is known throughout the United States for its detailed knowledge of electronics and electricity. The Centinnella Valley club in Hawthorne was also visited last week by three club members, Jimmie Wilson, Bill Wright and Eugene Cranston. Famed for its mountain railway and intricate system of operation, the club ranks tops among miniature railroad men. Other clubs will be visited shortly, club members point out.
