Homemakers Forum (Continued from Page 4) When you pick up a pound or two of Alpha Beta's bacon, the good selection of pot roasts and beer or stew will suggest several good dinners to you. I am keeping plans for the holidays in mind as I shop this week. The fine quality citrus fruits, shiny red apples, fancy Di Anjou pears, big bunches of grapes and small size fresh pineapples suggest a fruit arrangement to blend with holiday decorations. Safeway stores have made an unusual purchase of delicious apples. These are fresh northern apples which have not yet been put in storage which means they will keep a long time. Since they are of uniform medium size, they are just the thing for "apple Santas" for house or table decoration. "Apple Santas" are easy to make and very effective. Polish the red apples well and then with tooth picks and some glue, tack on a marshmallow head and snowy white cotton for the trimming of Santa's suit and his beard. A face drawn with a burnt match and a crepe paper hat completes the illusion. The "Sweetheart Doll" is still being offered by Alpha Beta stores at just about half the price in order to aquaint customers with Food Club Brand quality and an unbreakable She cries and sleeps. Dating was done by the carbon 14 method in which the wood's age is determined by the breakdown of the carbon part of it. The Nevada studies lead scientists to believe man first settled there between 7,000 and 9,000 years ago. Then the area was abandoned because it got too dry and was not reoccupied until 2,-500 or 3,000 years ago. —TONIGHT— Monday, Dec. 18 5:00 P.M. KNBH (4)—Kate Smith KECA (7)—Cowboy Thrur.
