Christmas Story
In Choral Verse by Katella School
Over two hundred children of Katella school participated in an inspiring Christmas program Friday—Mrs. Opal Wallace, music teacher for the school, directing and Barbara Mauerhan, announcing the program.
A large audience of parents heard the Christmas Story in verse and choral work by Mrs. Williams' 6th grade class, illustrated by clever shadow pictures by Mrs. Adamson's 5th grade class.
All other grades had their turn singing carols—Mrs. Cynthia Railey assiting—as the appropriate Christmas scene flashed on the screen. Those reading the verses were: Dick Combs, Donald Bohnet, John Hubbard and Steven Howell.
"We Three Kings" was sung by Richard Hashman, Dean Wylle and Fred Hall. Jerry Hubbard, Michael Witt and Elbert Smith were the three kings in the shadow pictures; Billy Williams and Harold Baker, shepherds; Carol Walton, Joan Schnitger and Carla Gardner, angels; Gwendolyn Halvorsen, the mother; Val Gene Tolman, the father; Robert Hall was in charge of the lighting.
Mrs. Lola Mae Beck's kindergarteners entertained with a group of Christmas songs, and the program concluded with selections in harmony by the Upper Grade Chorus—announced by Joan Schnitger and Harold Johnson—and the arrival of jolly Old Saint Nick.
Speckhart, S. S. C., with the CYO, the Catholic Boys' Club, and will coach for the boxing program. The next two Thursdays, 7:30 p.m., exhibition bouts for the public will take place at Guadalupe recreation hall. Boys from seven to 25 are eligible.
