Large Cast of Students in Lincoln School Christmas Program for P-TA Meeting
Every student of the Lincoln school had an opportunity to participate in the annual Christmas program presented yesterday afternoon in the auditorium to the members of the P-TA and guests. Each grade in turn sang the old familiar carols along with a few new tunes pertaining to the holiday season.
Mrs. William Hutton, program chairman, opened the meeting and led everyone in giving the salute to the flag. P. S. Doane, principal, welcomed the parents and friends, and said each grade would announce its own numbers. The afternoon kindergarten class started the program with their rhythm band playing "Jingle Bells" and then sang the words. The morning Kindergarten group sang "Peppermint Stick." Both these classes were accompanied by their teacher Miss Marjorie Strain.
Together the two first grade classes of Mrs. Mary Joan White and Mrs. Geraldine Moody recited "Don't Wait Until the Night Before Christmas to be Good," then sang "Silent Night" and "O Little Town of Bethlehem."
"Christmas Holly" and "Away in the Manger" were the songs presented by Mrs. Bernice Jolly's second grade who were joined by Miss Ellen Dana's combination second and third grades to sing "Frostie the Snow Man." Mrs. Helen Todd was the accompanist for the first three classes, and led her students in singing "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear" and "Rocking."
Bobby Bartshe entertained with an accordion solo "Silent Night," followed by the fourth grade under Mis Adele Howard's direction singing "O Come All Ye Faithful," and "The Bethlehem Babe."
"The Christmas Story" was read by two fifth grade girls, because one person passes on the Donna Starmer and Roberta disease to others.
