The gifts will enhance the holiday meals of patients of Orange county general hospital. Mrs. Joe Thompson and Mrs. Harry Horn were chairmen of the beautifully-appointed party attended by more than 200 clubwomen. Daniel Llord of Hollywood, who has appeared with the late Max Reinhardt performers and just returned from a tour of Europe, presented his marionettes in a Broadway review in miniature. Outstanding acts included a military tap dance by eight marionette dolls who imitated the famous Radio City Rockettes and required the manipulation of 102 strings. Dedicated to the late Florenz Ziegfeld was the act "Ball at the Palace of Versailles" in which Llord paraded beautifully gowned dolls down a stairway with special lighting effects amid floating irridescent bubbles. A miniature Edwin Booth performed Hamlet's soliloquy and a tiny pianist played a minuet. Also outstanding was an act called "Winterlude" with acrobatic dolls performing on ice skates with a climax of glittering fireworks set off behind a snow man who was part of the tiny stage setting. Five dolls performed in "Spanish Fiesta" and six marionettes were used in a Dutch sequence. Brilliant red lights and blue smoke made an eerie stage setting for "Oriental Fantasy" in which four dolls did a Javanese dance. Final act was a clever clown dance in which the marionette and Llord danced identical steps. The show featured acts by 114 dolls, with all music, manipulation and lighting effects handled by the talented young performer: Petit-fours, coffee and tea were dispensed from two tea tables centered with red and silver centerpieces.
