Homemaker Forum (Continued from Page 3) 1 egg, slightly beaten 2 cups flour ½ cup sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder ¼ teaspoon salt ½ cup nuts Juice and pulp the orange into a cup and then fill the cup with boiling water. Grind the dates and orange rind in the finest grinder and add to the juice and hot water. Add melted shortening, vanilla and egg. Sift flour with sugar, baking powder, soda and salt. Stir into the orange mixture. Add nut meats and pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. BANANA-NUT BREAD 2 cups sifted flour ½ teaspoon soda ¼ teaspoon salt ¼ cup shortening ¾ cup sugar 1 egg, well beaten ½ cup mashed banana Sift together the flour, salt and soda. Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually and beat until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add flour mixture, alternately with mashed banana, a small amount at a time. Beat after each addition until smooth. Place in a well-greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for about one hour. All Christmas trees more than three feet in height must be treated with flameproof material. Trees under three feet in public places need not be treated, but should have decorations of flame-proof material and lights of the approved type. The places of public assemblage include the following: schools, dance halls, auditoriums, churches, lodge halls, cocktail bars, banks, stores, office buildings! Trees must be placed in the room away from the general public, and not more than one tree in any one room. All decorations must be of flameproof material. No door or exit may be blocked with a Christmas tree or decorations. Fire inspections will be made during the holidays and tests made for flameproofing.
