Thief Hustles Car Through Fence
It's bad enough to be burglarized, but Leavitt Ford must be thinking that he was the victim of the sloppiest one in existence.
This particular thief broke into Ford's used car office, scooped up the keys to all of the used cars on the lot, and departed with a 1946 Mercury convertible. He established a new road in leaving the lot, driving directly through the fence.
The car, minus driver, was found later this morning in Santa Ana, neatly draped around a light standard.
Police were investigating for possible fingerprints.

of ice-coated Changjin reservoir.
Troops of the ROK (Republic of Korea) Second Corps stabilized the sagging bottom of the line against strong red opposition.
An unconfirmed report by a prisoner said Chinese communists were building up a big force in the mountains west of the Changjin reservoir. The entire Chinese 42nd Army may be in the area. The 42nd consists of the decimated 124th Division, 125th and 126th.
American naval guns and planes came to the rescue of the battered Republic of Korea (ROK) Capital Division on the northeast coast. North Korean attacks, including an amphibious landing behind the ROK lines, had ripped holes in the South Korean front and shoved the right flank back within two miles north of Myong-chong.
Eight-inch guns of the U.S. Cruiser Rochester and rockets of Marine and Naval planes wiped out half of a red battalion which made the amphibious landing, the U.S. Tenth Corps said.
The red battalion was made up of North Korean Marine officer cadets from a training school at Chongjin, it landed from small boats to bulwark a heavy land attack along the 15 mile, snow-covered northeastern front. Communists punched five holes in the ROK line before they were checked.
Back of the lines U.N. divisions were chopping down the size of bypassed North Korean forces operating now as guerrillas. Two hundred reds surrendered to the newly arrived U.S. Third Division near Wonsan on the east coast.
CHILD RECOVERS
Mary Jane Stanton, 8, Midway City, was recovering today in a Long Beach hospital from injuries sustained late Tuesday when she was struck by an automobile driven by John J. Callas, 43, Huntington Park, near her home. Attending physicians said Thirty-five years ago the Betty Rose Shop was opened in Santa Ana as Orange county's first infants' specialty shop, by Mrs. Rose Walker. Five years ago Mr. and Mrs. C. Lloyd ((Whitey) Larsen bought the shop from Mrs. Walker. Last Saturday the new home of the shop was completed sufficiently to move the stock from the old address.
Anaheim's department store for children is designed for young customers' complete enjoyment. Rose-colored walls, blue leatherette upholstered furniture and an atmosphere straight from the land of make-believe lend charmingly to a child's fancy.
Infants to the teen age will find the necessities—from books, toys to clothes—for all ages, sizes and occasions.
Mr. and Mrs. Larsen, who live at 900 So. Los Angeles st., are active in civic affairs. Mrs. Larsen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fisher, pioneers of Anaheim. She was born here and went through school in Anaheim. For eight years she was employed by E. A. Maher, a local accounting firm. Mrs. Larsen is president of the Altrusa club and is an active member of the senior Ebell and YLI.
Whitey Larsen manages the Betty Rose Shop in Laguna Beach. He is originally from Wisconsin but long ago moved to Fullerton. He is a Past Exalted Ruler in the Elks.
