GIRL SCOUT WEEK was observed by Catholic Scouts yesterday morning at St. Boniface Parish hall. Participating in the musical program presented were Rita Flynn of Troop 47, piano; Linda May, Troop 55 Brownie, violin; Karen Lenain, in uniform, Troop 15, accordion; and Cosette Peltzer, Troop 9, accordion. Personal Items Mrs. Agnes Criss of the Criss Business college in Anaheim, attended the California Council of Business Schools at Pasadena this week-end. The council was held at the Huntington Hotel, Friday and Saturday. Dr. and Mrs. George Chambers of Long Beach, former residents of Anaheim, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Spencer of 202 E. Adele st. Mrs. E. Kate Rea and Miss Adelaide Price have returned from a vacation in Idlywild. Visit Our Parks. Broadway P-TA Engaged in Projects to Furnish Teachers Room at New School With an eye toward assisting in furnishing the teachers' room at Thomas Jefferson school, members of Broadway P-TA are busily engaged in many money making projects. More than $50 was added to the fund last week as the result of a hot dog sale at the school. About 75 parents and teachers joined the students for a pleasant lunch hour. Mrs. Alden Bires and Mrs. Fred Krastel headed a committee of room mothers including Mesdames William Heisler, Ray Jordon, George Magill, Donald Menzie, Vivian Kelley, William Hall, Jack Brookman, Daniel Dodge, Ivan Storey, Harold Fellbaum, Robert Stagner, Gordon Chamberlain, Leonard Schwacoffer, James Harrison, Lloyd Maroff, Reese Warden, Charles Coffee and Arthur Showalter. Mutual Citrus Products donated concentrate for punch and many merchants gave generous discounts to the P-TA. Al Cotler has donated space for a home made candy booth on Hallowe'en and Mrs. Ray Jordan and Mrs. Fred Krastel will have charge of the candy sale. Early last summer Mrs. Robert Moor started a traveling basket among the members. As each member receives the basket she pays for the gift in it then adds another gift and passes the basket to another member. Cornstalks Lend Atmosphere to Hallowe’en Party In an appropriate setting of cornstalks, witches, and goblins, Miss Carol Lee Wilkerson entertained a group of her friends at a Hallowe’en party in the Wilkerson's garage at 805 N Helena st., over the week end. The enjoyable evening was spent ducking for apples and in games of witches brew and other traditional pastimes. Climax of the evening was a marshmallow bake in the back yard. Refreshment tables were set with bright orange and black decorations with little witches forming the nut cups. Do-nuts, ice cream and punch were served. Guests for the evening were Sally Cordes, Joyce Lugar, Gayle Newkirk, Kathleen Cordes, Janice Troutman, Dorothy Fluegee, Lorraine Schulz, Judy Simpson, Judy Helyer and Darleen McLaughlin, all of Anaheim; Ellen Bernstrauch, Doris Benneman, Ann Bosh, Nancv Paul, of Orange; and Lois Eifert of Laguna. President Eloise Smith presided at the business. An invitation to the Southern District Breakfast, to be held at the Nikabob in Los Angeles on Nov. 19, was read. Program Chairman Louise Miller introduced Jerry Barnett from Carnell Beauty Salon who gave a most interesting talk and demonstration on the subject of hair styling. Following the program refreshments were served by the hostess. Guests present were Jerry Barnett and Helen Decker, with the following members, other than those mentioned above, enjoying the evening: Kaye Fancher, Esther David, Bessie Frey, Kay Dietmeier, Helen Cohn, Beulah Hineman and Helen Sharp. Edward Faulkner, 9902 Western ave., flew to Kansas City for a business consultation. He will go to Minnesota before he returns in about 10 days, on business for Edward Faulkner and Associates of Los Angeles. The Red river of the north runs from the Minnesota-North Dakota border to Lake Winnipeg in Canada. Social and Club Activities Pat Terrebonne—2206 Distinguished President of Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, Speaks Here Capacity attendance of 1300 marked Orange county Luther Day observance yesterday in Anaheim high school auditorium. Dr. John W. Behnken, president of Lutheran church of Missouri Synod of Oak Park, Illinois, was guest speaker for the afternoon service with pastors of Orange county Lutheran churches also taking part in the program. The Rev. E. H. Pflug delevered the Invocation and Llection and E. T. Pingel of Immanuel Lutheran school in Orange led the Lutheran school chorus in opening choral selections. Dr. Behnken has been president of Lutheran church-Missouri Synod since 1935 and is well known to Orange county where his son, Rev. Victor Behnken has pastorate of Immanuel Lutheran church in Orange. Orange county Lutheran mass choir of 200 mixed voices was directed by Haydn M. Morgan of St. John's Lutheran school in Orange. Olive M. Kempin of Anaheim was at the organ. Participating in the service were pastors, the Rev. J. Schu Jeanette Koss Celebrates Birthday Special party honors were given Miss Jeanette Koss on her sixteenth birthday when a group of her school friends met at the Koss home on E. Orange ave., to extend best wishes to the honoree. Games, including charades, were enjoyed by the guests prior to the serving of refreshments by Hostess Mrs. H. Koss, mother of the celebrant. Centering the serving table was an attractively decorated cake, which was served with the traditional ice cream. Present at the occasion in addition to Mrs. Koss and Jeanette were: Dione Cave, JoAnn Felt, Elizabeth Van Hunnick, Lynda Bennett and Rita De Gennero. Spencer was honored on the occasion of her eighteenth birthday last night at a charming dinner party given by her grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Behnken has been president of Lutheran church-Missouri Synod since 1935 and is well known to Orange county where his son, Rev. Pledge Service In Baggott Home A pledge service by the Anaheim Eta Upsilon chapter of Kappa Delta Phi national sorority was held following three lovely rush parties; a formal tea, a picnic, and an informal party. The formal pledge service was held in the home of Mrs. Donald Baggott, 722 S. Ohio st. Candlelight and lovely arrangements of fall flowers decorated the home and delicious refreshments of pecan pies and coffee were servd. Girls pledging the sorority are Miss Elise Baker, Brea; Miss Joan Ball, Miss Miss Charlotte Day, Mrs. Glenn Fry, Jr., and Mrs. Jack DeBaum, all of Anaheim. Members of Eta Upsilon chapter present were Mrs. Trenton Mitchell, president; Mrs. Donald Baggott, vice-president; Mrs. Wayne Hoffman, secretary; Mrs. Ray Robert, historian, and Mrs. Sumner Gates, mistress of ceremonies. Western ave., general chairman of the Community Chest drive for four districts, Los Alamitos, Central City Cypress and Stanton announces a general meeting at the Savanna school, 7291 E. Ball rd., Monday Evening at 7:30 o'clock. Working organizations will be formed. Anyone interested in assisting may attend. After the business meeting a movie describing the Community Chest and showing workers on duty will be shown. The meeting will adjourn about nine fifteen. The Blessed Sacrament church sponsored a second annual Hallowe'en celebration Friday evening at the Catholic Youth center. 500 parishioners from Stanton, Westminster and Garden Grove in comic costumes enjoyed games and refreshments led by Fathers Robert Ross and Kevin McNally, who entered into the spirit of the affair in informal attire.
