Wife of Tibbett Son Wins Divorce
LOS ANGELES (D)—Barbara McInnes Tibbett, 27, has obtained a divorce decree after testifying that Richard M. Tibbett, 30, son of singer Lawrence Tibbett, was "very unaffected."
Mrs. Tibbett, an interior decorator, testified in courts yesterday that on their first wedding anniversary they had dinner with friends and at midnight she asked her husband for "an anniversary kiss." She said he refused saying he "did not want to kiss in public."
The wife testified that if she wanted kisses she had to beg for them.
She was awarded custody of their 10-month-old son, Richard Lawrence, and $75 a month for its support.
Tibbett and his twin brother, Lawrence Jr., are sons of the operatic baritone and his first wife, Mrs. Grace McKay Tibbett.

Sweet Potato Color Aided by Harvest Delay
That deep salmon-pink flesh color highly prized in the Porto Rican sweet-potato grown in the South for table use is furthered by a delay in harvesting until the first killing frost is due, according to a series of tests by the U.S. department of agriculture in cooperation with a number of southern states.
Carried on over a three-year period, the tests in Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina and Texas showed that when the plants were set out before mid-June, a harvest delay of from three to 10 weeks after Sept. increased the dept of flesh color in Porto Rican sweetpotatoes, the most widely grown variety in the south.
It is not known whether delay in harvest will benefit color of sweetpotatoes in Orange county reports A. H. Holland, farm advisor in the agricultural extension service. However, delayed digging results in a longer growing season which allows the plants to produce a larger crop.
