NEW YORK (Special)—Robert L. Funseth, former managing editor of the Anaheim Gazette and now a graduate student and resident tutor at Hobart College, Geneva, N.Y., is representing that college at the nineteenth annual New York Herald-Tribune Forum which convened Monday at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The theme of the three-day forum is "Mobilizing America's Strength for World Security."
National figures who will address the delegates include: W. Averell Harriman, special assistant to the president; Sir Gladwyn Jobb, United Kingdom representative to the United Nations; W. Stuart Symington, chairman of the National Security Resources Board; General Mark W. Clark, chief of the United States Army Field Forces, and Thomas K. Finletter, Secretary of the Air Force.
On Tuesday, Funseth attended the United Nations General Assembly to hear President Truman deliver an address on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the world organization.

They said the purpose was to minimize the dangers of a border clash. Korea borders on Russian Siberia as well as on red China's Manchuria.
South Korean forces will go on to the border in pursuit of Korean communist remnants, these sources said.
Intelligence officers at General MacArthur's headquarters in Tokyo said reports that South Korean force already had reached the Korean-Manchurian border "are in error."
There was no resistance, except for small arms fire in a few spots. Nor was there any evidence of a big convoy moving southward to oppose the United Nations cleanup campaign.
The Far East Air Forces reported a cluster of miscellaneous vehicles was strafed and rocketed by fighter planes Tuesday. Fifty-five vehicles were destroyed, 40 damaged.
That was at Mupyong, 20 miles southwest of Kanggye, near the Manchurian border about midway across the Korean peninsula. Kanggye has been reported the mountain retreat of the refugee red regime.

But outside of the vehicular concentration, the Air Force went abegging for targets. Ox carts and reds afoot were attacked.
An air spokesman in Tokyo said only one B-29 went out Wednesday. It dropped propaganda leaflets on eight North Korean cities between the six advancing spearheads and the border.
The red Korean communique, as broadcast by Moscow radio, spoke of "heavy defensive battles" north of the captured communist capital of Pyongyang.

The Hallowe’en Festival and fair is just about the biggest event ever staged in ANAHEIM. Flocks of visitors, both the home town kicks and strangers, will throng the city. While everyone is in a lively mood, the merchants will take this opportunity to boost ANAHEIM.
You see, the purpose of GREEN TAG DAYS is to entice people into the Anaheim shopping district, offering them tremendous value in NEW FALL MERCHANIZE in order to acquaint them with the advantages of shopping Anaheim.
Shoppers will find that there is a minimum of shopping hazards in getting to the business district. There are ample free parking lots. Within an area of new blocks, there is a complete environment of merchandise to meet every need and it is sold without any tax sales. The salespeople are accustomed to serve and adjustments easily be made when necessary. Money spent in the homeown promotes the growth of the whole community.
In order to give the readers of ANAHEIM GAZETTE an acute pre-view of GREEN TAG DAYS, MY SWANBERGER suggested I visit the stores myself. I said anyone would know the operating merchants by the green banners in their windows. The merchandise specially suited for this event will be marked with bright green tags—bence name GREEN TAG DAYS.
When I stopped at PENNEY'S talk with the store manager, CAR SOLTER, he was in Los Angeles to make sure that every piece of merchandise advertised for this sale would be in his eye by opening day. PENNEY'S been planning for this sale the last July but let's face it; we are shortages and some goods hard to come by.
On the meantime, 'DRY GULCH' PROCKI, assistant manager, somingly clad in fancy shirt and tight jeans had thrown a lashed typewriter to peck out anignant letter to a blanket firm. Seems that Penney's has relied only three of the 17 cases blankets they placed on their order with the wholesalers.
Imagine being able to buy fall merchandise at reduced prices in the midst of the fall season! As I went from store to store, I began to think of my Christmas list. Why not start my Christmas buying during GREEN TAG DAYS and take advantage of the "lay away plan" that so many of the stores offer?
My mind was completely made up when OSCAR RENNER of the S.Q.R. STORE showed me lovely tablecloths with matching napkins in the pastel shades of peach, blue, green, silver and ivory. Just the thing for Christmas giving and at the low prices of GREEN TAG DAYS.
You say it is furniture you have been thinking of? You say you have been wanting more for your money? The SMITH-BEAFSNY-DER FURNITURE COMPANY plans to feature their beautiful matching rataan pieces, divans, chairs, tables, etc., all modern in design and striking in color at a great saving. A large assortment of floor and table lamps will be on sale too.
Perhaps you would like to take a chance, carnival style, on a new Norge refrigerator at GAREY'S QUALITY FURNITURE STORE. That chance will cost you nothing but a few minutes time. Simply register your name and see the refrigerator demonstrated to be eligible to win. Another green tag special at GAREY'S will be an occasional chair for $1.00 with the purchase of any two-piece living room suite.
"TEXAS" B. D. LAKE has operated LAKE'S MENSWEAR STORE at the same location for 24 years. His name has taken on that western flavor for the Fall Festival because he is on the west side of ANAHEIM. But east or west, it will be a long time before such a tremendous sale of men's clothing is offered again.
At LAKE'S, the suits and topcoats right from the regular fall merchandise will be green tagged, and there will be a big selection from which to choose. For that Christmas buying take a look at the sweaters, shirts and ties.
The ladies have not been slighted in any way, shape or manner. At WALBURGS', MRS. WALBURG invites you to look at her green tag items which include dresses in corduroy and rayon.

2. That the big powers remove "all hindrances" to development of peaceful German economy.
Acheson—"If this demand is addressed to Moscow, we will heartily support it." He said the West had spent billions in an effort to develop German economy on a self-supporting basis while Russia had blocked Berlin, imposed arbitrary restrictions on commerce, and destroy all economic initiative in East Germany with communist monopolies.
3. "The undelayed conclusion of a peace treaty with Germany."
Acheson said progress could be made in that direction only if the German people freely elect a national government.
4. Creation of an all-German constitutional council on the basis of a balanced representation of Western and Eastern Germany.
Acheson called that 'even more insubstantial than the rest.' He ridiculed the idea of equal representation for the 18 million "captive Germans" of the Eastern Zone with the "47 million free Germans" of the West.

But these problems are too big for private effort, and can be handled only by the whole people, through public agencies, he said.
He noted the program for salvage of water now wasted in Prado basin, but urged that formation of the proposed municipal water district for annexation to MWD is required if the county's water supply keeps pace with growth.
Shafer referred to maps to show the water situation in various areas, and also the proposed MWD system of lines to Orange county, costing $13,000,000, to bring both treated water for domestic use and raw water for irrigation.
With the proposed district's $200,000,000 assessed valuation, the cost of importing-water would mean a tax rate of about 60 cents, he said. Treated water could be purchased for $20 an acre foot and untreated water for $10, but with district taxes added, these costs would be approximately doubled, he said. He estimated the cost of reclaiming sewage at from $18 to $40 an acre foot.
