Tessella Is Newest Section of Anaheim Ebell Club Groups Anaheim Ebell club marked the beginning of a delightful new social section last night when the Tessella group met for the first time under the leadership of Mrs. Fred Fischle with Mrs. Roy Copeland as assistant leader. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kirk of Kirk's nursery, were guest speakers and presented members with many lovely gifts, including an attractive planter, and many useful garden supplies. Mr. Kirk gave an informative talk on indoor planting and the care of house plants. He discussed also "seasonal planting," and said it was possible to have flowers in the garden during the whole year if the gardener had a knowledge of which plants to set out during different seasons of the year. The lounge was decorated in a fall motif with autumnal flowers on the mantle. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Victor Brown, Mrs. Betty Casey and Mrs. Gerry Brock at the bridge tables. Twenty five members attended the garden chat and bridge. Next meeting was set for Nov. 20. These are Book Section has First Meeting Under Mrs. E. E. Smith For its first meeting of the year the Anaheim Ebell Book section yesterday heard two contrasting reviews, one a book review and the other a relation of personal experiences by a traveler whose summer was spent in Europe. Mrs. H. D. Newkirk gave a review of "The Marriage Look" by Robert Nathan selecting passages from the work which revealed the life and character of the main personality and showed how the author stepped from reality to imagination. The work concerns the desire of the main character to escape from the routine of his marriage of 20 years; his chance meetings with a young girl; and his return, finally, to his original circumstances and actuality, from which there is no escape. Mrs. George Wheat, who recently completed a Rotarian tour of Europe, gave the audience a vast insight into the lives and personalities of people in Europe and the different ways in which they are attempting rehabilitation. The speaker, who flew to Scotland, Sweden, Denmark and Amsterdam by way of Newfoundland, was particularly impressed by the lack of bitterness against the Did Your Doorbell Ring This Week If your door bell rings in the next three weeks and you find a little girl at the door, she will not be a high pressure salesman but will more than likely be your neighborhood Girl Scout selling Girl Scout calendars. These are colorful, useful calendars with plenty of space on each date for jotting and reminders. They sell for 25 cents and the profit, which is seven cents, goes to the girl's troop for use in making trips, buying craft supplies and party materials, and all the other things Girl Scouts do that make little girls happy. The Girl Scout calendars are approved by National Council as a money making effort. Please don't slam YOUR door in a Girl Scout's face. Mrs. Eva Boyd, returned from Sacramento last evening after attending the Grand Chapter of Eastern Star. While she was there she visited state controller, Tom Kuchel. Anaheimers also attending the Sacramento meeting was Gladys Woodward, Worthy Matron of Chispa Chapter; Earle Woodward, Patron of the Chispa Chapter; Addie Belle Hunt, Conductress, and the afore mentioned Eva H. Boyd, Past Grand Treasurer. Mrs. Arthur Mabs, general chairman, reports that the Savanna P-TA carnival, Thursday evening, was a tremendous success. More than $200 profit was made. The attractive fortune teller who read palms for two nickle tickets with such sincerity as to be convincing turned out to be Mrs. Marjorie McBratney. Mrs. George Wheat, who recently completed a Rotarian tour of Europe, gave the audience a vast insight into the lives and personalities of people in Europe and the different ways in which they are attempting rehabilitation. The speaker, who flew to Scotland, Sweden, Denmark and Amsterdam by way of Newfoundland, was particularly impressed by the lack of bitterness against the United States and the people's desire to reconstruct their countries, a sharp contrast against the Germans whose chief interest, she said, was in getting money. She commented on the friendliness of the Norwegians and the culture of the Danes. Included also on the itinerary were Munich, Austria, Italy, France and London. Highlight of her trip according to Mrs. Wheat, was the presentation of the passion play with 2000 villagers from Oberammergau in the cast. Mrs. E. E. Smith is section leader and Mrs. Bradford Jones assistant. Mrs. Claude Slacke and Mrs. H. J. Fackiner presided at the tea table.
