First Fall Round-up for Benjamin Franklin P-TA has Record Attendance Fall "round up" meeting was held by Benjamin Franklin, P-TA in true tradition with a delicious ranch style dinner served to more than 200 parents and children. Authentic decorations carried out the theme of the evening with miniature oxen and covered wagons used as centerpieces on the brightly colored table cloths. Mrs. Glen Kirk, program chairman, presented Miss Ruth Williams, principal, who introduced Miss Ann Clark and Miss Reddick, kindergarten teachers; Miss Florence Littrell and Miss Hull, first grade; Miss Hazel Gibson and Mrs. Dorothy Cox, second; Miss Beryl Kennedy and Miss Joyce Sweeny, third; Mrs. Sadie Thomson, third and fourth; Miss Tureda Olson, fourth; Miss Mary Fleckenstein, fifth; Mrs. Clara Harmon, fifth and sixth and Mr. Chester Fowler, sixth grade. Special instructors introduced were Miss Ada Wilcox, girl's physical education; Miss Harriet Schadewald, music supervisor; Miss Elsie Hake, school nurse. Each was presented a philodendron plant. Rev. Al Casebeer gave a short talk on the value of having Bible released time for students. Herbert Stabbart, president of the elementary school board was introduced. Immediately following the dinner the fifth and sixth grade glee club sang three numbers lead by Miss Fleckenstein with Miss Schadewald as accompanist. Community signing was led by Chester Fowler. Decorations were handled by Mrs. Robert Pernyman assisted by Mrs. Elmer Peter, Mrs. Ed Driskell and Mrs. Harry Dugdale. Dinner committee chairman was Mrs. Godfrey Herbel with Mrs. Forrest Simonton, Mrs. Connan Gray, Mrs. W. John Seapy, Mrs. Glen Kirk, Mrs. Frances Elliott, Mrs. Arthur Korn, Mrs. John Kerns, Mrs. Harold Fisher, Mrs. Roy Dargatz, Mrs. Wayne Held, Mrs. Lloyd Litchenwalter, Mrs. Leo Oden, Mrs. Ralph Chance, Mrs. F. John Olson and Mrs. Byron Dahl. Anaheim Ikettes will meet tonight at Mrs. Dick Martin's rumple room, 1440 E. Center st., to review film strips. All members are urged to come. VFW auxiliary sewing club met Friday evening at the VFW hall on N. Philadelphia st. Meeting was spent in making wheelchair pads for the veterans hospitals. Plans were made to attend VFW Day at Long Beach Naval hospital on October 28. Refreshments were served by hostesses Mrs. Florence Carroll and Mrs. Emma Daniels. Project Programs Discussed by Circles WSCS circle meetings were held recently when Fackiner circle met with Mrs. Arthur Roquet of N. Zeyn st. with Mrs. Floyd West and Mrs. T. W. Jacobs as co-hostesses. Mrs. J. S. Kerr gave the book review on Christian Vocation and Mrs. W. A. Johnston led devotions. Rinehart Circle met with Mrs. William Dierberger and Mrs. George Dierberger. Mrs. Frank Butterworth gave the study book and Mrs. Menssa Hausewald devotions. Mrs. Lawerence Wagner was hostess to Fawver circle with Mrs. William Livingston as co-hostess. Gifts were brought to be sent to the Neighborhood House at Calexico and a collection was taken for milk for the project. Mrs. Paul Davidson gave the book review on "Christian Vocation" by G. Bromley Oxman. Hutson circle met with their leader, Mrs. E. O. Hutson for a pot luck luncheon at noon. Discussion and plans for work on the project which is the Plaza Community Center of Los Angeles was the business of the day. Mrs. Kenneth Snyder led devotions. Heckmans Surprise At Housewarming A housewarming party came as a surprise to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heckman of 8201 Moro Lane yesterday. Proceeding from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Scrutz, the group of friends and relatives arrived in full force at the Heckman home where Mr. Larry Quillo or Funertion presented the group. Mr. Heckman was also celebrating his birthday yesterday. Guests attending the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Frus; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Payne; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stokel; Mr. and Mrs. Hat-Summers; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Jimenez; Mr. and Mrs. Itay Mahoney; Mrs. Erthel Thatener and Mrs. Ella Charles. Guests from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Layden from Los Angeles; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Quile of Funerton; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Wheeler; Mr. Stan Wheeler; Mrs. Agnita Hewitt; all of Garden Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marshall; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wood; and Mrs. Jenny Graham; all of Long Beach. Attending from Berkeley was Harry Heckman, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Heckman, and two friends, Charles Maunsell and Larry Giovano. Unable to attend were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Heckman of So. San Francisco. The Val Moore dancers will be on television channel 2, KTSL, tonight from 10 to 11 p.m. on the NTG one hour show as a preliminary to Anaheim's 27th annual Hallowe'en festival. The talented and well known dancers will present "What Aloha Means" with Doris Rouland, Delores Pool, LeRoy Williamson, Patti Wood and Carol Gregson. E. Robertson at her home, 1265 E. Santa Ana st., Mrs. Ray Dixon and Mrs. Wallace Doty. The Robertson home was decorated in pink and white crepe paper streamers to form a background for the centerpiece of white and lavender mums and a miniature bride. Bridal games were played with prizes awarded to Mrs. Bryant, Mrs. Carter, Mrs. Frizzell and Mrs. West. The hostesses served angel food cake with a strawberry whip, nuts and candies, tea and coffee. Mission Tour Planned by County Garden Clubs Plans are being completed for the fall district meeting of California Garden clubs to be held in San Juan Capistrano Oct. 25, according to Mrs. Weston Walker, District Director of District 1B, which comprises Orange county. The Garden section of San Juan Capistrano Woman's club, under the presidency of Mrs. Samuel P. Combs, will serve a luncheon following the morning business session, and conducted tour of the Mission San Juan Capistrano will follow. This district meeting is open to all interested persons and their friends for the purpose of acquainting them with the worthwhile endeavors of garden clubs, many having made outstanding contributions toward the county beautification program, and for the purpose of meeting personalities of the garden world. Reservations for the luncheon may be made with Mrs. Combs, Box 52, Dana Point, or with Mrs. Walker, 919 N. Olive, Santa Ana. The morning session will convene at 10 o'clock in the Community Church on El Camino Real in San Juan Capistrano. California Garden Clubs, Inc., is a state organization affiliated with the National Council of State Garden Clubs, which seeks to educate its members in horticulture, conservation of natural resources, in the proper conduct of flower shows, garden centers and tours, and to increase knowledge and interest in amateur gardening, plant and bird life. Halverson to the Troutman & Scholz Oil Company who donated lube oil for the carnival and orange concentrate was donated by MCP. Next meeting of the Katella Parent-Teacher League will be Tuesday, October 17th, at 2:15 p.m. The next square dance will be held October 24th and every second Tuesday, thereafter. An interesting report was presented to teachers and travel committee of George Washington school by Miss Aletha Macy and Miss Dorothy Flecter who have recently returned from an extended trip through the Rocky Mountains and several national parks including Yellowstone. Their account included a brief talk on the highlights of their trip and the showing of a rock and seed collection and movies of the picturesque mountain area visited. Conference Slated For Tomorrow by Methodist Women Woman's society work will be thoroughly discussed and planned at the White Temple Methodist conference Tuesday, October 17th. As host, the White Temple has arranged for a wide and experienced range of speakers. There will be departmental clinics on every phase of Woman's Society work. Theme for the day will be "Lengthen and Strengthen". Guests will be the San Diego District Woman's Society of Christian Service. Mrs. Guy Frazier, president of the district, will preside. Director of the Neighborhood Settlement House at Calexico on the Mexican border, Miss Ruth Ferguson, will tell of her work. Mrs. D. H. Wyatt, Children's Work Secretary of the Southern California-Arizona Conference will also speak. Mrs. Owen Geer, will discuss "Student Activities" in relation to the work of the work of the Woman's Society. Rev. Hayden Sears, District Superintendent, and former pastor at White Temple, will speak. Mrs. Harry Burden, Mrs. J. R. Grizzle, Mrs. Isabel Jacobs and Mrs. O. E. Hutson, of the local church, are in charge of registrations. Mrs. Virginia Burke will be the organist and Mrs. Orville Thomason will be soloist. Rev. Frank Butterworth will give the meditations. Lois Rebekah Thimble club will meet at the home of Vernice Summers, 1018 W. Center st., tomorrow evening at 8 p.m. Foster, Mrs. Vincent Hone and Vincent Rudy Hone Jr., and Mrs. Joe Kessler and son Philip. During the evening friends and relatives called to extend their best wishes.
