Colonists Face Confident Colonist Attitude Worries Coach Van Hoorebeke Coach Clare Van Hoorebeke leads his Colonists to the second fray of the year tonight, meekly muttering, “C and get ’em, Citrus, they’re ripe.” He thought that he’d experience just about every of hardship in preparing the Colonists for their op against Bell Gardens last week, but he’s run up against entirely new one this week—over-confidence. Statistically, there is good reason for the Anaheimers to feel that they have a pushover this week. They had little trouble in dropping Bell Gardens last Friday, while Citrus has yet failed to win this year. They were toppled 25-6 by Cantwell and 39-6 by Downey. What the mere scores don’t show, however, is that, in Downey and Cantwell, Citrus played two very powerful Southern California teams. There is no secret about Downey’s strength. And Cantwell is annually one of the best of the Southland’s Catholic teams. The Colonists certainly won’t be able to blame Van Hoorebeke should they be upset tonight. He has repeatedly tried to warn them during the week. Last Friday night William Hicks, a regular Coach, scouted the Citrus-Downey game, and he gave a full report to the Colonists. The game again shapes up as a battle of T formations, with the distinction that Citrus Coach Blas Murcurio uses a very tight T, as opposed to Van Hoorebeke’s some-what loose T. Hicks lauded running of halfback Miller L 200-plus pounder, who runs his sprinter once the line springs free. Apparently Lee will be main consideration. The full and the other halfback are fair, and Lee carries the principally on straight-ahead er thrusts. The pass def meanwhile, will have to keep eye out for the passing of quail back Bob Bjorkland, who most of his throwing will fading back into a protective Against this, the Colonists expected to toss their run game which they used almost clusively against Bell Gardens last week.
