and Russian consulates and the U.S. Ambassador's residence against fierce red death-stand resistance.
All are in the northern, modern section of the lopsided city of ancient and new structures.
Thousands of shattered houses marked the path of the Marine drive into the approximate center of Korea's 500-year capital which the reds took three months ago Thursday.
Seoul shuddered and rocked Wednesday under massive barrages of fire and steel.
Small pockets of the dis-hard reeds still were resisting. The Leathernecks fought through winding alleys and from house to house to oust them.
By late Wednesday afternoon, only a small section of Seoul still was in red Korean hands. AP Correspondent Tom Lambert reported from the Seoul front. Lambert rode in a jeep past shell-blasted buildings and reported the raising of the American flag.
Lambert's dispatch was filed at 6:59 p.m., (1:59 a.m., PST).
Earlier, AP Correspondent Don Whitehead had reported from another sector that Marines held only one-third of the city Wednesday morning.

Attacking the agreement between the county and the Camden-Dayton Co. which provides for a joint effort to gain title from the federal government to oil-bearing tidelands near Huntington Beach, Attorney General Fred M. Howser of California, today urged the county supervisors to rescind the agreement entered Aug. 15.
Howser criticized the agreement on legal and moral grounds. The Camden-Dayton Co., which would drill for oil in the tidelands under lease from the county, if the county is successful in gaining title from the department of the interior through scrip furnished by the Camden-Dayton Co., is "using the

AUHS Range Open To Shooters
Capt. William Hicks, who replaced Major Ralph Comstock when the latter left with the National Guard, announces that the indoor shooting range at the high school armory is open every Tuesday and Thursday nights, 6:30-9:30, for target shooting.
Due to the fact that Capt. Hicks is teaching a full academic day at the high school, he can only have the armory open two nights a week. However, if enough shooters come down and register to justify other nights of shooting, another instructor will be assigned the extra nights needed.
So far the enrollment has been light with only a very few showing up each night to get in a few shots at the targets.

Timers seeking diversion and entertainment now available source. It's Sadu, exotic new cocktail lounge at 133 Angeles st. Sadu has been operating on a partial basispletion of alterations and redecorating work re-will burst forth on a fulltime schedule with the official grand opening tomorrow.
Next door to the luxurious lounge, and owned also by Sadu proprietor Robert Bachelor, is a new retail liquor store at 129 N. Los Angeles.
Bachelor offers both to the critical solicitation of Anaheimers.
The name Sadu Bachelor hints he encountered in a languorous section of the tropics. The natives of the area employed the term to characterize their idyllic existence. And it seemed so apt a term that Bachelor was fixed with the idea of applying it to an establishment of similar name and character.
Hence the tropical setting which visitors will find at the Los Angeles street lounge. Bamboo and ratan ornamentation, combine with luxurious surroundings to produce an atmosphere that is restful, relaxing and extremely enjoyable.
Sadu, designed to accommodate more than 100 patrons at one time, features everything in the cocktail line, according to Bachelor. Specialties of the house are Mint Julens

The Anaheim Kiwanis club, at its meeting yesterday, heard an address by Dr. Elmer A. Nelson, who has been closely identified with the U.S. government in foreign affairs since the first World War.
Council Grants Zoning Variance
Three zoning variances came before Anaheim City Council last night; one was completed, was accepted subject to a public hearing, and a third was shown pending outcome of present plea for rezoning the city.
Second reading of an ordinance to change the triangular seabound by North Manchester Loara and Lincoln from single family residence to heavy metal facturing zone was passed by councilmen, bringing to a close action on a variance request dered last spring.
A variance petition to challenge lots 1-5 in the 1200 block of Center st., from single family residence to general business accepted on recommendation, the planning commission, sub- to a public hearing on the property.
The hearing was set for October 10, 8 p.m., in the council chamber.
Tenderer of the variance request is Anaheim Gardens, owner of the property in question. Dixon, 539 S. Indiana, was on his last night to explain to counsellors that he wishes to purchase the property on Center st. for erection of a super market if variance can be effected.

LA County Building Hits $700 Million
Housing for more than 215,000 persons will be provided by privately financed residential construction for which permits were issued in Los Angeles county during the first eight months of this year, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce reported last week.
Construction in the county passed the $700,000,000 for the first two-thirds of the year as 45 cities and the unincorporated area issued permits totaling $92,632,868 in valuations.
This boosted the eight-month volume to $703,959,066 more than $235,000,000 greater than the total for the corresponding time last year and 13 per cent more than for the first two-thirds of 1948—the record year.
We have no idea what this world will come to, if it does.
