One of the loveliest of this season's brides was Miss Mary Ellen Middleton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Middleton of East Broadway who was married in late afternoon services Sunday at White Temple Methodist church to John Douglas Cole, son of Dr. and Mrs. L. R. Cole of Altadena. Rev. Frank Butterworth performed the double ring ceremony.
Decorations throughout the church were in an autumnal motif with large baskets of chrysanthe-ey, and Ann Gromer, of Redlands.
Mrs. Middleton wore an ankle length dress of red chiffon with a brown velvet hat and shoes and a corsage of brown wood roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a dark green dress with chartreuse hat and a corsage of Bagdad and flame gladiolus.

Decorations throughout the church were in an autumnal motif with large baskets of chrysanthemums and gladiolus banking the altar and clusters of fall leaves tied with candelabras at the pews. Brown streamers marked the aisleway.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ankle length gown of champagne colored chantilly lace over satin with deep cut sleeves and a softly scalloped neckline. Her veil of sheer illusion net fell to the shoulders and was held by a circlet of pearls and she carried a bouquet of brown wood roses and feathered peach carnations.
Maid of honor, Miss Mary Lou Narveson, wore a full skirted gown of brown organdy over taffeta and carried a peach fan with Bagdad and flame gladiolus.
Bridesmaids were Mary Wright of Anaheim, Virginia Moses of Glendale, Miss Dolores Bader of Arcadia and Evelza Salter of Fullerton. Their gowns were identical to the matron's of honor.
Allan Cole, brother of the bridegroom was best man and Allen Fitzpatrick, Rev. Culver H. Nelson, Lealand Purvis and Louis Middleton were ushers.
Peggy Hynes sang "Oh Rest in the Lord" accompanied by Nan Miller.
More than 400 guests attended the reception which followed the ceremony. Assisting were Rosemary Wood, Norma Jean Tews, Jackie Cone, Anita Robertson, Phyllis Officer, Mrs. Duane Moon-ey, and Ann Gromer, of Redlands.

The bride is a graduate of Anaheim high school and is attending Redlands University. Her husband is a graduate of Redlands University and is completing work on his masters degree. Following a brief honeymoon trip they will reside in Redlands.

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore R. Corliss, 604 S. Philadelphia st., announce the engagement of their daughter, Roesmary Jean to Paul Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Peterson of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada. The wedding will take place in the fall.
Florence Circle of White Temple Methodist church will meet tomorrow night at the home or Joyce Bestall, Rt 5, 12262 Orangewood Ave. The Rev. Frank Butterworth will show color films taken on his rural charge during seminary days.
Attorney and Mrs. A. J. Wildman of Shidler, Okla., who have been visiting their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wildman of San Francisco, and other relatives and friends near Los Angeles, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Nipper and Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Nipper of Anaheim last Friday and Saturday before returning to their Oklahoma home. Friday evening the party enjoyed a visit and dinner at Knott's Berry Farm. Mr. Wildman is quite active in American Legion circles in Oklahoma and Mrs. Wildman is a prominent member of the OES Grand lodge and subordinate lodge of that state, both attending the OES Grand Lodge Convention at Montreal, Canada, last year.
Wearing the gown in white twin sister was-married two ago, the bride was given away her father. A high French offset the satin bodice of her and the bouffant skirt for contrast in sheer marquise Juliet cap held her shoulder veil.
Attending as matron of was Mrs. Kenneth Hatten, since the bride, who wore a hoop-ed dress of lavender organ carried a bouquet of dew roses.
Miss Audrey Kruse, sister-groom, was bridesmaid and a dress of pale blue similar to matron of honor's. She owed blue delphiniums and white nations.

YLI Schedules
Formal Initiation Of Members
Formal initiation of new members into Anaheim YLI will be conducted on September 18 according to an announcement made at the regular business meeting Thursday. A dinner honoring new officers installed during July will precede the meeting with Dorothy and Wade care in charge of arrangements.
Candidates have been invited to the dinner by committee chairman Miss Mary Ellen Grady. Assisting are Mrs. Jane Liexnus, Mrs. Leo Martin, Mrs. Velma Neuman and Mrs. Alberta Kees. Reservations close September 15 and may be made with Mary Ellen Grady at 7:42.
Members were reminded to save all discarded articles and clothing for the rummage sale on Sept. 28, 29 and 30. Anne Treanor is general chairman and Marie Lenain and Gertrude Carter are assisting.
Announcements were made at the meeting of all officers and chairmen at the home of Elsie Benner, 219 S. Lemon Street on September 25; Bridge-tripoli-canasta party at the home of Mrs. Christina Pohlman on Sept. 21; and the public card party at St. Boniface hall on October 12.

Simmons-Knutson Wedding Saturday At St. Boniface
The marriage of Miss Olene Simmons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester L. Simmons of 121 Coffman ave., this city, to Eugene Knutson of Anaheim, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Knutson of Minneapolis, Minn., was solemnized Saturday morning, September 9, at 9 o'clock at St. Boniface Catholic church.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was gowned in a street length white organdy fashioned with a fitted bodice and full skirt. The bridal bouquet was pink rosebuds surrounded with white carnations. A linen handkerchief, a gift from the bridegroom's mother for her graduation in June of this year, provided the sentimental accent to the wedding ensemble.
A Juliet cap with a veil held in place on each side with white ribbons and green fern, made by the bride, completed the bridal costume.
The maid of honor, Dolores Hutain wore a blue organdy identical to the gown of the bride and carried a bouquet of pink carnations.
Best man was Loyd Simmons, brother of the bride.
The Rev. Father David Coleman read the nuptial mass and double ring ceremony before an altar and pedestal decorated with white gladioli. Mrs A. F. Faust, church organist, was at the console of the organ.

Marriage Told
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Beddall of Romneya Dr., have announced recent marriage of their bride, Mabel Beddall to Jean Rockwell, Jr., son of Mr. and J. H. Rockwell of Long Beach. Visit Church Methodist at 520 Park Avenue, New York City, was setting for the service which read by Rev. John H. McInbe.
The bride wore a gown of ivory with a softly rounded neckline fashioned in a deep ruffle. A perip length veil was held to hair by a band of lace and she tied a bouquet of cream roses. The attended Fullerton Junior College, the University of Missouri, the American Institute of Foreign Trade at Phoenix, Ariz.
Mr. Rockwell is with the Royal Newwriter Co. in New York City. May be at home after Sept. at the Broadway Apartments Long Beach, Long Island.

On Sunday evening at 8 o'clock, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents to which only relatives were invited. Miss Alice Brant had charge of the guest book and Mrs. Walter Mynatt, grandmother of the bride, and Mrs. Rodger Daniel, an aunt, assisted with the serving.
The bride's mother was gowned in a black crepe dress and her corsage was a double gardenia. The bridegroom's parents were unable to be present.
The going away costume was a navy blue print with her corsage of pink roses taken from the bridal bouquet. The young couple spent a few days honeymoon at an undisclosed place.
Mr. Knutson attended the schools in Minneapolis, and served three and a half years in the Navy. He is employed with Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach.
St. Michael’s Group Meets in Boyd Home
First fall meeting of the Women's Auxiliary of St. Michaels Episcopal church was held Thursday afternoon in the home of Mrs. W. D. Grafton, 207 S. Kroeger St. Mrs. Eva Boyd, president, conducted the meeting.
The Rev. John Kimball Saville gave a report on the work and activities of the auxiliary since its organization in 1871. Plans were made for the annual rummage sale on September 21, 22, and 23 at 230 E. Center st., and for the fall festival on October 27. A dessert course preceded the meeting.

Teddy Lou Payne Engagement Told at Luncheon Party
Miss Teddy Lou Payne of 419 S. Indiana street, was hostess at a buffet luncheon Friday as a farewell to several of her friends who are leaving soon for college.
The surprise of the afternoon came when Miss Payne led everyone into the dining room. In the center of the table stood a birdhouse in autumn flowers. Two feathered love-birds stood in front of the birdhouse, each with a heart in his beak with the inscription, "Teddy," "Don."
A bouquet of American Beauty roses, sent by the bridegroom elect, adorned the living room mantel. Individual corsages for the guests formed a colorful base to the birdhouse.
A delicious luncheon was served with Mrs. H. L. Calaway, bridegroom elect's mother, pouring.
Attending were: Miss Norma Tews, Miss Donna Thomas, Miss Rosemary Wood, Miss Mary Wright, Miss Wanda Dellflower, Miss Jackie Helen Hillary, Mrs. Joan Mary Middleton, Mrs. Knight, Miss Phyllis C Anita Robertson, Miss man and the two most Calaway and Mrs. Tews.
Miss Payne and her fiancee are attending college this fall where both in their junior year Calaway is majoring in ice. During his senior AUHS he was student at dent, and he was also the music department internmental functions of Miss Payne also attained graduated from Anaheim class of '48. During her years she was queen of drive, and served on the council. While attending ton Jr., College she went Turkey Day Queen, by the Kappa Lamda Sigma and she was active in Christian organization.

Pomona Students At Hoskins Home
Students from Orange county who will enter Pomona college next week and their parents were honored Sunday afternoon at the annual Get Acquainted party given by the Orange County Council of the Women's Campus club of Pomona college.
Gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cortez Hoskins, 320 W. Alberta, Anaheim, students now attending Pomona college and their parents, welcomed the guests. Local Residents Return from Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Patrick of 212 S. Ohio st., and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Sisson of 105 S. Ohio st., returned recently from a two weeks vacation trip during which they travelled 3700 miles.
Included on their route were Oregon, Washington, Victoria, Canada and the Strait of Georgia to Campbell River. They fished in the Campbell River, famous for its Tyee salmon, and spent one week in that section visiting Mr. Patrick's sister, Mrs. H. G. Ahern and family.
On their return they traveled along Georgia Sound and made the ferry crossing from Sidney, Canada to Anacortes, Washington. From there they returned again to Canada, this time to Vancouver.
Their trip home was over the inland route and was cool and enjoyable but Mr. Patrick was led to exclaim, "We were sure glad to get home again." Quote and Unquote."
Junior Ebell Club Launches Fall Program With Rush Tea for Membership Candidates
Prospective members of Anaheim's Junior Ebell club were received at a smart tea yesterday afternoon in the clubhouse.

In the receiving line were Mrs. D. B. Baker, president; Mrs. Arthur Roquet, senior advisor; Mrs. Ben Agajianian, corresponding secretary and Mrs. Joe Neighbors, second vice-president. Mrs. Don White membership chairman and Mrs. R. Noel Mendoza, secretary, greeted guests at the door. They wore floor length dresses with gardenia corsages.
Mrs. Milton Spencer, senior Ebell president and Mrs. George Fowler, past president, presided at the tea table which was set with silver service with a large bouquet of spider lillies in deep orange as a centerpiece. Chartruese candles in silver holders were placed at each end of the heavy lace tablecloth.
As each guest arrived she received a corsage of spider lillies arranged by the decorations committee headed by Mrs. Carl Robertson and including Mrs. William Hutton, Mrs. Edward Van Zee, Mrs. Robert Hall, Mrs. Leighton Miller, and Mrs. Dean Polhemus.

While attending Fullerton Jr., College she was elected Turkey Day Queen, belonged to the Kappa Lamda Sigma sorority and she was active in the student Christian organization. Miss Payne is a major in elementary teaching.
