(Gazette Photo by Bradley) Miss Elva Clasen Honoree at Bridal Shower in Orange Miss Elva Clasen, bride-elect of Ray Stuard, was given a surprise miscellaneous bridal shower Friday evening in the Herman Harms residence at 1051 E. Palm st., Orange, with Mrs. Herman Harms acting as hostess, assisted by her small daughter, Darlene. White dahlias, large blue lace fans and a miniature bridal procession were used in the decorations for the party. A beautiful carnation corsage was also presented the honoree as part of the evening's activities. Games were played with prizes awarded to Mrs. Martha Schnackenberg and Marjorie Schutte. At the gift time, Miss Clasen was led by little Darlene into the playroom where the gifts to be presented were displayed. Light refreshments were served the guests attending, who included: Mrs. John Clasen, mother of the bride-elect; Mrs. Hal Johnsen, sister and Mrs. Jennie Gibson, her grandmother; Mrs. William Clasen, Mrs. Ed Clasen, Mrs. Etta Cauntess, Mrs. Fred Cornell, Mrs. Walter Knigge, Mrs. Erwin Bauman, Miss Martha Leuders, Miss Marie Clasen, Miss Anna Tune, Miss Elsie Hour, Miss Marjorie Schutte, Miss Shirley Henning, all of Ana:eim; Mrs. Arnold Clasen, Mrs. Catherine Wiebe, Mrs. Emil Schnackneberg, of Orange. Marieta Selfridge and Mahlon Hamann Recite Vows in Impressive Wedding Rites Miss Marieta Selfridge and Mahlon Paul Hamann were married Friday night at the Evangelical United Brethren church in an impressive ceremony with the Rev. Leonard Wendland performing the rites. Given in marriage by her father, pastor of the United Brethren church, the bride chose a hunters green suit with a straight skirt and full peplum back for her wedding ensemble. Maple accessories were a harmonizing contrast to her suit. She carried abridal bouquet of gardenias and pink rosebuds tied with knotted white satin ribbons. Miss JoAnn Lakeman, close friend of the bride was maid of honor. She wore a kelly green suit and carried a bouquet of pink carvations and pink rosebuds. Roger Pannier was groomsman at the wedding, which took place in the church especially decorated with white flowers and potted palms. Social and Club Activities Jackie Cushing—Phone 2206 June McCoy-William Miller Married in Fullerton Presbyterian Church Ceremony Saying their vows before an altar banked with gladiolus, lark-spur and white flower and greenery arrangements, Miss June Lee McCoy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R., McCoy, 600 W. Union ave., Fullerton and William Gene Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Miller, 700 W. Valley Dr., Fullerton, were united in marriage at the Fullerton Presbyterian church in a Sunday afternoon ceremony, August 20. A venetian lace gown over white satin, fashioned with a bustle back traditional long bridal train, fitted bodice and sweetheart neckline, edged in seed pearls was worn by the bride, who was given in marriage by her father. A matching veil of net and venetian lace was also part of the bride's costume, which was accented by a single strand of pearls. A white orchid surrounded by gardenias and tied with white satin ribbon made up the bridal bouquet. Miss Beryl Boisseranc, maid of honor and Mrs. Barbara Osborne, matron of honor, wore dresses featuring a fitted eyelet bodice, full skirt with an accordion pleated front and tied with a large bow. Both carried pink colonial bouton, after a week's honeymoon at picturesque Carmel. The bride is a graduate of Fullerton schools and Fullerton Junior college. She graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., where she majored in physical education and was affiliated with the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. The groom graduated from a North Dakota high school and Fullerton Junior college. He will be a senior this fall at the University of Southern California, where he is majoring in industrial psychology. Tomorrow Date of Spanish Dinner-Ice Cream Social A Spanish dinner and ice cream social will be given by the junior WSWS and the Philethea class of the Evangelical United Brethren church tomorrow evening, August 22, between 6 and 8 o'clock at the church lawn, 405 W. Center st. Tony Guerra and his orchestra will provide music during the evening for the entertainment of the guests. Proceeds from the dinner and social will go into the church Las Vegas Chapel Scene of Alexra-Stockwell Rites Miss Joan Alexa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Alexa of Sycamore st., was united in marriage to Frank Stockwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stockwell of Placentia early Saturday evening, at the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas. The bride looked smart in a modish, ice-blue, street length, off the shoulder dress of satin. The bouffant skirt with a net overskirt and two inserts of gored lace matched the eton jacket of net with a stand up collar of lace. A cap with white sequins and a short veil and all white accessories completed an ensemble beautifully set off with a deep rose orchid corsage. Miss Jo Murphy of Fullerton, maid of honor, was dressed a deep blue crepe with a corsage of white carnations. The bride's mother was lovely in a dark green crepe and matching hat. Other guests were the bride's paternal grandmother Mrs. J. Alexa; her aunt, Mrs. Vera O'Connell of Chicago and her sister, Donna. All the ladies wore white carnation corsages. The best man was a lifelong friend of the groom, Russell Quillen of Brea. Calvin House, another friend, drove part of the party to the wedding. A formal dinner at the El Rancho at 7:30 was enjoyed by eleven guests where the couple cut the traditional first piece of a huge wedding cake. After a week's motor trip to Yosemite the couple will be at home at 619 W. Greenwood, La Habra. Invitations Issued To Women's Groups Invitations are being issued to women's organizations of Orange county to hold meetings and luncheons in the board room and dining room of the Goodwill Industries at 417 W. Mrs. Nan Moore, of Anaheim, member of the Goodwill board of directors and Mrs. Fern Renfrow of the administrative staff issued the invitations also to acquaint the women with welfare activities of Goodwill institutions. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Holmes and children, Sonny, Jerry and Joan, stopped for a visit in Anaheim to see their former neighbors from their home town in Oklahoma, Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Nipper of 753 N. They are on a three Luncheon-Reception Honors Middleton Bridal Attendants Miss Mary Middleton, who will be married to John Cole in September, gave a lunchcon and reception honoring her wedding party Sunday afternoon in the home of her parents on W. Broadway. Pouring the coffee and tea was Mrs. Cole, mother of the groom-elect. The afternoon was spent in chatting and making plans for the wedding, as well as in looking at the many gifts received at the prenuptial showers honoring Miss Middleton's coming marriage. Personal Mention Mr. and Mrs. E. Lemcke of Houston, Tex., and daughter, Sandra are visiting Mrs. Lemcke's mother, Mrs. Saunders of this city, for a few weeks. E. Lemcke, former well-known Joint Outfall Sewer engineer is now an engineer for a large construction company currently running pipelines across the United States. He is due to arrive here soon after Mr. and Mrs. E. Lemcke of Houston, Tex., and daughter, Sandra are visiting Mrs. Lemcke's mother, Mrs. Saunders of this city, for a few weeks. E. Lemcke, former well-known Joint Outfall Sewer engineer is now an engineer for a large construction company currently running pipelines across the United States. He is due to arrive here soon after Labor Day for a vacation. Mrs. Stasie Armstrong, who is vacationing at Cherry Point, N.C., welcomed a new grandson on the morning of August 12, weighing 6 pounds, 14 and a half ounces.
