Miss Connie Jo Benson-Paul J. Tighe Exchange Vows in St. Boniface Church
Saying their marriage vows before a select group of relatives and friends, Miss Connie Jo Benson and Paul J. Tighe were wed Saturday August 12 at the St. Boniface Catholic church in an impressive, informal ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was dressed in a teal blue suit and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds, harmonizing with the pink accessories of her wedding ensemble.
Miss Barbara Bohan was maid of honor and wore a brown blue suit with turquoise accessories. Like the bride, she carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds.
James Tighe served his brother as best man, with LaVerne Swanson and Charles Kneale acting as ushers.
Father David Coleman officiated at the rites spoken in the church, especially decorated with potted palms and two large baskets of flowers.
"The Lord's Prayer" and "Mother Dear O'Pray for Me" were the vocal selections given by the nuptial soloist, Mrs. Veda Dutzi. Mrs. A. F. Faust was organist.
A gray suit was worn by the bride's mother and the groom's mother chose a gray print dress for the occasion, with pink accessories. A pink carnation corsage accenting both Mrs. Benson's and Mrs. Tighe's costumes.
Mrs. C. E., Spencer, aunt of the bride, Mrs. James Tighe, sister-in-law of the groom, Miss Ruth Rattan and Miss Gloria Irwin assisted in the hostess duties at the reception held in the bride's home.
Miss Lorraine Pannier presided at the guest book.
Immediately following the reception, the couple left for a week's honeymoon at Arrowbear Upon their return they will make their home at 253 N. Glassell st. Orange.
The new Mrs. Tighe is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Benson, 127 W. Valencia st., Anaheim, is a graduate of Anaheim Union High school and attended one year at Fullerton Junior college.
Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Tighe are the parents of the groom, who attended Nebraska schools and the Colorado School of Mines. He is now with the Marines stationed at the El Toro Marine base.
Special guests at the wedding were the groom's parents, who came from their home town of Grand Junction, Colo., to be present; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wells of St. Edward, Nebr., and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Spencer of Globe Ariz.

Mrs. Jack Hoag Honored at Get-Acquainted Party
A get-acquainted party was given Friday night in honor of Mrs. Jack Hoag, nee Jayne Alice Richardson of Ft. Worth, Tex., who was married to Jack Hoag last July 28 in Las Vegas, Nev. Mrs. Tom Hoag, sister-in-law of the honoree, was hostess at the occasion; which took place in her home on 817 W. Sycamore.
The dining room table was decorated with a white flower arrangement of chrysanthemums and gladiolus and a miniature bride, groom and ring bearer. Tall white and gold tapers tied with white satin ribbon and lily-of-the-valley greeted the buffet table.
Two large gold wedding rings, tied with white satin ribbons and lilies-of-the-valley centered the refreshment tables, with gold and white candles standing inside the rings. White lace doilies marked each place.
The new Mrs. Hoag was presented with a corsage of white carnations preceding the evenings activities. Games of canasta were enjoyed by the guests with Mrs. Opal Sangster receiving high score, Mrs. Virginia Hall second highest and Mrs. Maude Underwood, low score.
Punch was served during game time and refreshments of frozen salad-dessert served with tea and coffee. concluded the evening for those attending.

Election Discussed At Recent Savanna P-TA Board Meeting
The election to be held Tuesday, Aug. 15, for an additional building loan from the state under the provisions of the previous loan fund was the principal topic of the meeting of the Executive Board of Savannna School District P-TA held Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Arthur Mabs, Ball Road.
Voters are to be urged to go to polls and vote for acceptance of this additional building loan. District Superintendent Wayne Butterbaugh stressed the need of accepting such an additional loan in view of the increase in cost of labor and materials.
Two members responded to a request by Mrs. Hal Eastwood, Health committee chairman, for volunteers to assist at the Tuberculosis Mobile Unit, which will be stationed at the Orange County Fair.
Plans for P-TA activities for the coming year will be discussed at a picnic for the members of the board to be held Wednesday, August 23, at the home of Mrs. John Cooke, Ball Road.

A charity luncheon and Bufashion parade will take September 14 at the Balboa Park, is was announced re-launch of a special meeting of its members the Santa Ana Auxiliary Children's Home Society of Ana.
The social part of the meeting included a farewell party for Mrs. Loyal Weaver, who is moving to Los Angeles. The hostess presented Mrs. Weaver with sixteen balloons, each containing a note of best wishes from a member. As she burst each balloon, Mrs. Weaver read each note aloud. She was also presented with a handkerchief from each member of the board as a remembrance.
Homemade ice cream, made by Mr. and Mrs. Butterbaugh cake and coffee were served by the hostess.
Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Butterbaugh, Mrs. William Drake, P-TA president, Mrs. Arthur Smith, Mrs. John Cooke, Mrs. Wayne Jennings, Mrs. Millard Clark, Mrs. Hal Eastwood, Mrs. John Gautschy, Mrs. Loyal Weaver, Mrs. John Karraker, Mrs. Joe Kitchens, Jr., Mrs. Lewis Wolter, Mrs. Elton Snavely, Mrs. J. E. Pruett, Mrs. C. F. Clodt and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mabs.
Mr. F. L. Marsh of 300 N. Janss st., celebrated his birthday last week at Knott's Berry Place. Later the party visited the picturesque Ghost Town. Attending were the honoree's wife, Mrs. F. L. Marsh; his son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marsh, LeRoy and Forrest and Harry Benjamin. The Robert Marsh's home is in Korea where Marsh was employed with the State Department. They left two weeks before the fighting broke out there on a vacation trip to the United States and have been unable to return due to the war conditions. Benjamin is an evacuee from Korea.

Miss Mary McCloskey-Samuel Herman Say Vows in Double Ring Ceremony
St. Bernard's Catholic church was the setting at 7 o'clock Saturday night, July 29, for the marriage of Miss Mary Ann Teresa McCloskey, daughter of Mrs. Harry J. McCloskey of 8718 Marlene St., Bellflower, to Samuel R. Herman, son of Mrs. Rene Ratte of Hanson Manor. Father Michael C. Healy performed the double ring ceremony.
A white taffeta dress with a tiered skirt of the new short length was worn by the bride. Her fingerless short lace gloves matched the lace trim on the bodice of her dress. A crownless halo covered with maline and horsehair veil was attractive on the bride's hair.
She carried all-white old fashioned bouquet of carnations, centered with a going away corsage of bride's roses and carnations.
Given in marriage by her uncle, Lawrence G. Redding of Norco, the bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. Melise B. Linton of Michigan. Attending the bride-groom was Gene Pappas of Long Beach.
Fifty guests were present at a reception at the home of the bride's mother. Hostesses were Mrs. John H. Voss, Jr., aunt of the bride from Compton; Mrs. William A. Bubb, cousin of the bride, also of Compton; Mrs. L.J.Redding of Norco and Mrs.Sherwin Evans of Detroit. Presiding at the guest book was Mrs.Peter Mortenson of Detroit.
The matron of honor was attired in a pink sharkskin suit with white accessories and hat to match and corsage of roses in the same shade. The bride's mother, was charming in a copper brown ensemble, with a small brush straw hat and accessories to monize. A contrast to the cost was the yellow corsage she wore.
The groom's mother, was modish in a new fall bamboo suit with matching felt coat accented a sweep of feather on the right side. Her gloves other accessories were black vet and her corsage of rose double strand of pearls we wear a dusty pink shade.
Special guests noticed at the reception were Rene Rattegier's step-father; Mrs.Pappas, a recent bride of the man; Mr. and Mrs.Abert decker of Los Angeles.
The reception table was fully arranged with a pale linen aster and gladiolus box centering it.
The couple went to Lake Anah head for their honeymoon, receiving the following Wednesday the groom could report to Long Beach base as an organ reserve in the Air Corps.
After a short time he returned to Bellflower, where the couple will make their home. After receiving his Associate of Art gallery from Long Beach Citylege August 25, he will return the 452 Bomber Squadron at Torville for three months trying as a gunner with the rank of a sergeant.
Herman is a veteran of the war where he served for five years mostly in the South Pacific He also received a Purple Heart award when a corporal in Marine Corps.
