NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the intention of the Board of Supervision of the County of Orange, acting as Governing Board of Orange County Waterworks District No. 7, to acquire by purchase from Mount Properties, Inc., for and on behalf the County of Orange for the use purposes of said Orange County Waterworks District No. 7, the following described waterworks system facilities, water rights, easements and real property: 1. The existing steel water pipes, valves, standpipes, fitting water services, service cooled water meters and appurtenances in and along the streets, right way and public property as follows: In Valdina Avenue between Albert Street and Lot 97, Tract No. 1202 as shown on a map they recorded in Book 37, Pages 27-28 of Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County, California, in Gilbert Street between Valdina Avenue and Westerly extension of the Northerly line of Lot Tract No. 1161 as shown on a page thereof recorded in Book 36, Pages 45 and 46 of Miscellaneous Maps, records of said Orange County, in Moro Lane between Valdina Avenue and Moro Place, and Moro Place between Moro Lane and Moraga Street, and in Moro Street between Valdina Avenue and Sequoia Avenue, and in Ala Street between Valdina Avenue and Sequoia Avenue, and in Valtura Street between Valdina Avenue and Sequoia Avenue, and Monterey Street between Valdina Avenue and Sequoia Avenue, in Siesta Street between Valdina Avenue and Sequoia Avenue, in Sequoia Avenue between Moro Street and Siesta Street, and the Easement along the Northerly line of Lot 14 and Southwesterly line of Lot 15 said Tract 1161; 2. Lot 1 of said Tract 1161 Lot 97 of said Tract 1202 together with water and water rights thereon, and the existing wells, pump motors, switches, storage tanks, pump houses, pipelines, valleys fittings and appurtenances local in and on said lots; $208,565.08 Given To Orange County In Highway Taxes SACRAMENTO, (WNS) — Allocation of $208,465.08 to Orange county as its share of the highway users tax fund for the quarter ending June 30, 1950, was announced by State Controller Thomas H. Kuchel. Kuchel said a distribution of $50,753,578 was effected for the net proceeds to the fund during the quarter. Of this sum, $11,365.527 was distributed to the counties; $4,360,909 set aside for contribution to cities, and $35,027,142 transferred to the State Highway Fund for expenditures on the state's road system. Funds apportioned. Kuchel said, were received by the state as follows: Net gasoline tax, 31,398,544; use Diesel fuel tax, $1,198,737; transfer from motor vehicle fund, $17,-000,000; transfer from motor vehicle transportation fund, $1,126,-446 and miscellaneou, $29,851. Grosss gasoline tax collections for the quarter, according to the controller, amounted to $35,693,-635, which represented a decrease of $337,553 or 94 per cent under collections for the previous quarter, but an increase of $318,042 or 90 per cent over collections for the same period last year. Refunds from the gas tax amounted to $4,174,873 and administrative expenses, $185,394. Rain-Making Under Consideration Artificial rain-making is becoming established as a practical instrument for increasing water supply, the Orange county Water district directors are scheduled to be told Wednesday by Stuart A. Cundiff, engineer of the California Electric Power co., Riverside. Cundiff will be here to outline plans of the Santa Ana River Water Association for artificial rain-making along the entire length of the river. Water interests, including cities in the Santa Ana Basin, will be asked to organize behind the program of seeding clouds with dry ice to cause precipitation, and use of silver iodide in ground generators to vaporize the atmosphere. First year's cost of the program is estimated at $30,000. Opening Day Will Be Anaheim Day At County Fair Communities of Southern California will be honored during the program of the Orange County Fair, scheduled for Aug. 16-20 on the former Santa Ana Air Base between Newport Beach and Santa Ana, H. Clay Kellogg, president of the fair board announced today. On the opening day, Wednesday, Aug. 16, Santa Ana, Orange, Tustin, El Toro, Anaheim, Olive, Garden Grove, Cqsta Mesa and Los Angeles county will be paid tribute. Huntington Beach, Newport Harbor, Sunset Beach, Seal Beach, Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Dana Point, Doheny Park, Capistrano Beach and Long Beach day will be observed on Thursday. During Friday's program honor will be paid to Ocean View Midway City, Westminster, Stanton, Barber City, Los Alamitos, Cypress, Buena Park and residents of Riverside county. Saturday will be Fullerton, La Habra, Brea, Yorba Linda, Olinda, Atwood, Placentia and San Bernardino county day. On Sunday, closing day of the fair, tribute will be paid to Villa Park, Silverado, Modjeska, Trabuco, Irvine, El Modena, Orange Park Acres and to residents of San Diego county. A Phoenix firm which has conducted considerable operations in artificial rain-making in the southwest and Mexico, may be employed to handle the job in the Santa Ana basin if the program materializes. Reports of an experiment in Arizona were quoted here to show the effectiveness of artificial rainmaking. At a time when there were uniform clouds over both the Verde and Salt River valleys, cloud seeding with dry ice was done over the Salt River valley, and rain fell within 30 minutes for a total precipitation of two inches. No rain fell in the Verde valley. Boy, 2, Claimed By Death Saturday Jeffery Howard Hastings, two and a half year old son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Hastings of Oakland, passed away at Oakland Children's hospital last Saturday evening following an illness of several weeks. He had contracted leukemia and the last few days before passing, he had chicken-pox. Jeffery Howard was the grandson of Mrs. Madge Lyen of Cypress and Mrs. Sarah Hastings of S. Lemon st., this city. Yonk Dies at El Cajon Clifford H. Yonker, a resident of Anaheim since 1923, died night at El Cajon. Yonker, aged 64, was temporarily living in El Cajon at the time of his death. He was born in Sacramento. He is survived by his wife, phia, of Anaheim; one son, L. Lonker of Anaselm; one daughter, Mrs. C. V. Clark of El Cajon; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Beverly Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary with interment following at Anaheim cemetery.
