MAILBOX MUMBLINGS — We asked for it! We got it—mail!
Some of the letters, though, weren't exactly what we anticipated. One has us perplexed.
The GAZETEER is no Dorothy Dix, but apparently a young woman thought so. She asked for advice.
Advice is cheap — often it is worth no more than it costs: nothing! But, a columnist has a duty to the paper that runs his stuff and to the subscribers who read it.
If this column can perform a service to any of its readers, it will do so.
This is the essence of the letter:
A young woman and her girlfriend accompanied a couple of businessmen to Tlajuana recently. They had a good time making a round of the bars. On the way home they stopped at a motel. At the worst possible time, one of the businessmen's wives dropped in. It wasn't a social call!
The young woman doesn't know what to do. She is afraid that her name will be dragged through the divorce courts and that her husband and family will find out about her miss-adventure.
What can she do?
Honestly, the GAZETTEER is at a loss to offer a logical solution to such a difficult problem: To err may be human, but to forgive a transgression is difficult to say the least.
What advice would you give to Alvina P. Bouslog Claimed by Death
Alvina P. Bouslog, 83, a native of Germany who came to America at the age of 13 and who came to Anaheim nearly 30 years ago, died yesterday afternoon at an Orange hospital after a prolonged illness.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Annie Klaussen of Knoxville, Iowa; one grandson, Howard Palmer of Washington and one nephew, Oliver Hardin of Needles, Calif. She was a member of the Fullerton Four Square church.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced later by the Hilgenfeid mortuary.
Anna P. Satzke Dies Wednesday
Mrs. Anna P. Satzke, resident of Anaheim for the past 43 years, was taken by death yesterday at the age of 73.
Born in Germany, she had made her home at 555 S. Janss. She is survived by two sons, Ernest of Anaheim and Walter of Oakland; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Bond of Anaheim, Mrs. Flora Hanke of Lindsay, and Mrs. Edna Shockley of Santa Ana; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran church.
Funeral arrangements, handled by Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars, will be announced later.

PROFILES—Frank del Giorgio is a farmer, a man who produces food from tilling the earth. It is because of men like Frank del Giorgio whose efficiency and modern production methods have produced an abundance that others may engage in other endeavors. Everyone must eat to live. If it weren't for men like Frank del Giorgio, everyone and his brother would be grubbing in the earth for his existence.
IN PASSING—Bill Keele sailed the seven seas, visited many lands and many places, but he settled down in ANAHEIM—the ideal place to live... Bob Wilson started out to be a writer and a journalist. The lad who grew up in ANAHEIM is now a general manager of a Whittier enterprise... Claude Russell, the ANAHEIM Rotary club entomologist, confirms what all housewives know: ants are out in force this year. Dry weather has a lot to do with it... Guy French is a guy who hasn't got ants in his plants. No floriculturist allows the little pests to make any headway in their flower plots... Ralph Rouland is a fellow who knows it pays to advertise. But, by the same token, it pays to read the advertisements—especially GAZETTE advertisements... R. W. Grimm—Herb's big, little brother,—is paint specialist who isn't trying to cover the world with the stuff he sells. New housing makes it possible for the personable ex-ANAHEIMER to cover quite a bit of it...
TRUISM—Opportunity is where you find it. Ralph Rouland will tell you that it is as close as the GAZETTE want ad page.
SWIFTIES—Pat Ahern's ANAHEIM Junior American Legion tournament is getting publicity in the metropolitan prints. That goes to show whenever ANAHEIM does something it's done right... It's a good thing, too, that good men—men like Vie Ruedy—put their shoulders to any ANAHEIM-boosting enterprises... Joe AnS. Meger Wins Two Doll Awards
Shirley Meger won two first prizes to lead the contestants in the Recreation Department sponsored Doll Show staged yesterday at City Park. Shirley took first in the best dressed doll and the largest doll divisions.
The Department expressed appreciation today to the adults who entered the show on an exhibition basis.
The winners yesterday:
Best Dressed Doll — Shirley Meger, Marilyn Coulter, Janet Olsen, hon. men. Jacqueline Lampher.
Best Collection — Carol Van Verst, Marleen Hansard, Janet Olsen, hon. men. Jacqueline Lampher, Shirley Meger.
Largest—Shirley Meger, Anne Williams.
Smallest—Linda Daniel, Nancy Morales, Linda Meeker, hon. men. Marleen Hansard.
Oldest — Kay Smith, Loellyn Wise, Barbara Jean Lord.
Most Unusual—Sherryl David, Nancy Morales, Jan Critchfield, hon. men. Sherry Woodrom, Ann Morley.
Best Foreign—Marleen Hansard, Jan Critchfield, Jacquelin Lampher, hon. men. Dianna Peter.
Don May Receives Ad Layout Award

The advertising campaign was prepared for Scully Bros., garment manufacturers, and was placed through the Ted Factor advertising agency of Los Angeles.

It's a good thing, too, that good men —men like Vic Ruedy—put their shoulders to any ANAHEIM-boosting enterprises . . . Joe Anton, the grocer, has put on a little weight since he was one of ANAHEIM's fobtball greats fifteen years ago . . . The Bath Brothers — Darrel and Frank — were exceptional athletes in their day for little fellows. They are now big men in the business world. Frank is a mainspring for a Brea oil tool manufacturer. Willie Bath, the happy-go-lucky chap, hasn't met a fellow he didn't like or a fellow who didn't like him . . . Tima Gomez is a proud papa . . . The stork also visited the Gollar Bobbitts and the Jullan Antolins last week .
REMEMBER—Wouldn't it be wonderful if people kept just half of all the promises they make?
Petition for letters of administration over the estate of the late George W. Magee, father of Mrs. Elizabeth L. Yorba, 10811 E. La Palma, has been filed in Superior Court by his son, Donald Magee of Fullerton. The estate consists of a residence at Corona Del Mar with an annual income estimated at $600. Mr. Magee died July 11. Heirs include Donald Magee, Mrs. Yorba, and two other daughters.
Pescadores Report Light Angling Day
Fishing was not so pretty good for the Anaheim Pescaderos yesterday as they engaged in their weekly albacore cruise. The 15 went to Catalina and back and pulled in only eight of the much-sought fish. The indication was that things were light all over.
Howard Schaeffler took the jackpot yesterday with an albacore that went an estimated 25 pounds. High man for the tour was Ted Masterson who boated two.
BUS RAMS TRUCK,
1 KILLED, 14 HURT
GILROY, Calif. (IP)—A lightly-loaded Los Angeles-to-San Francisco Greyhound bus collided with the rear end of a produce truck near San Martin early today, fatally injuring the bus driver and injuring 14 passengers, two seriously.
The bus driver, Frank Coon, 42, of San Luis Obispo, died in Wheeler hospital here shortly before 9 a.m., after undergoing amputation of his left leg.
The bus collided with a truck carrying 18 tons of canned apricots and canned peaches. So great was the impact, it moved the frame of the truck forward, broke its brakes and impelled the truck 250 yards down Highway 101 before it could be brought to a stop.
