Social and Club Activities Phone 2206 Capilla De San Antonio Garden Chapel Scene of Guss-Schultz Marriage Rites Miss Joan Guss and Charles M. Schultz were wed Saturday in a picturesque evening ceremony at the garden chapel of Capilla De San Antonio with a large group of friends and relatives witnessing the rites. Her father gave her in marriage and her gown was of white pique, featuring a net yokeline, short sweeping train and long sleeves pointed at the wrist. Holding a fingertip veil in place was a juliet cap, with white roses and white stephonitis making up the bridal bouquet. Miss Kay Wilson, close friend of the bride, was maid of honor and wore a gown of soft yellow pique fashioned after the bride's dress. She carried a basket of aqua carnations and yellow daisies which matched those in her hair. Mrs. David Gardner, sister of the bridegroom and Mrs. Paul Eadington were also attendants and wore gowns patterned exactly after the maid's of honor of aqua. They also carried baskets of yellow carnations and daisies and the corresponding flowers in their hair. Miss Diane Gardner, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl and was dressed in a yellow formal. She carried a basket of carnations and daisies. Bradley Maahs was ring bearer and wore a white summer suit. Allan B. Young, brother of the groom was best man, while James Brown and William Gallagher served as ushers. "I Love You Truly," "My Hero" and Malotte's arrangement of "The Lord's Prayer," which was part of the service, was sung by Mrs. Ethel Hempsall. The Rev. Virgil Ledbetter, formerly of Anaheim and a friend of the Guss family, acted as clergy. Enhancing the beauty of the ceremony was the lighted tapers, and the large baskets tied with satin Helen D. Hokanson Wearing a lace trimmed organdy dress, ballerina length, Helen Dollie Hokanson became the wife of Nathan Cecil Haney with Bishop J. B. Lillywhite of the Latter Day Saints church officiating at the marriage rites spoken in the bride's home, 844 N. Clementine. The bride's entire costume, which featured a juliet cap and fingertip veil was designed and made by her. White carnations and baby breath made up the colonial type bouquet she carried. Sentimental accent to her ensemble was a necklace which belonged to her grandmother. Giving the bride in marriage was her father. Miss June Hokanson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and wore a gown of embossed yellow organdy fashioned after the bride's Lavender gladioli made up her bouquet. Don Turner, a navy friend of the groom, was best man. Mrs. Edna Mackay and Mrs. Irene Brock were pianists for the occasion and Mrs. Margaret Mackay, soloist, sang "Because." Choosing an aqua suit with black accessories and wearing the corsage from her bouquet the new Mrs. Schultz and her husband left for an undisclosed honeymoon. Upon their return they will live at 123½ S. Palm st. Mrs. Schultz is a graduate of Anaheim high school and Fullerton Junior college. She also attended the University of California at Berkeley and is now employed with the Anaheim branch of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company. Mr. Schultz also attended Fullerton Junior college, received his degree from San Luis Obispo and is now employed as an air condition engineer. Mr. Myron Kyes of this city left Tuesday for a business trip and visit with relatives and friends in Idaho. Stanton Items Residents of West Orange county are about to see one of their long sought road projects, the Sepulveda Freeway, come true. The Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce has spent a great deal of effort to spur this highway along. The Associated Chambers of Commerce, Orange County Planning Commission, Long Beach officials and the Los Angeles County Planning office have announced the latest plans for the Sepulveda blvd. extension is that it will go directly through Westminster blvd., or on Seventeenth st. There is also a proposal to bring the Freeway directly through the Seal Beach Naval Ammunition Depot and on into Midway City. Harry Bergh of the Orange County Planning Commission and Planning Director Warner Ruchti of Long Beach will work out the best route to be used. Miss Stanton, contender for the title of Miss Orange County, who is Miss Charaine Murray, and Mrs. Julian Black, chairman of the queen committee of the Stanton Chamber of Commerce, were the guests of the Reliance Title Company of Santa Ana, Monday. This courtesy was extended by the Orange county fair queen chairman, Sam Lyons, who, with Mrs. Lyons, arranged interviews with photographers and publicity men for the fair. Mrs. S. S. MURAOKA and her daughter, Junko, 10622 Court st., left June 14, after Junko graduated from the eighth grade at Magnolia school, for Oakland. Haney Honi-Formal Ceremony Wednesday Eve home with special friends of the bride assisting in the duties. Mrs. Marie Brown acted as hostess and Miss Betty Albin and Miss Joan Marsh, cousin of the groom, presided at the punch bowl, Miss Lois Ashleigh served the cake, Miss Phylliss Raley was in charge of the guest book and Miss Louise Olson of Salt Lake City, Utah, took care of the gifts. Two musical selections were given by Miss Barbara Bohan. Following the couple's two-week honeymoon in northern California they will reside in Buena Park. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Haney at Atwood, attended schools in Placentia, prior to joining the navy and is now employed by Consolidated Western Steel in Maywood. The new Mrs. Haney is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Hokanson of this city and is a graduate of Anaheim Union high school, attended Dixie college where she was affiliated with the Lambda Delta Sigma sorority and Fullerton Junior college. Personal Mention Mr. and Mrs. Leo J. Sheridan, 402 N. Lemon street, have just returned from a three-week trip east. On the way they stopped to see Saltaire in Salt Lake City, then continued north into Jackson Hole and saw the sights of Yellowstone. They continued on to their destination, South Dakota, where they looked over farming operations and visited with relatives. Mr. Sheridan reports a dry spring in the mid-west with a resulting short crop. Bernard Hoyt has been visiting with his mother Mrs. Walter Luce, 331 N. Dickel, for several days while his wife is away from the family home in Los Angeles attending a sorority convention in the East. Having graduated from Anaheim high school some years ago he has kept in touch with Anaheim through many old classmates as well as his mother. He has been practicing law in Los Angeles for many years but retired two years ago. When an assistant professor in business law was offered him in Los Angeles State College he accepted and enjoys his new duties very much. He graduated from the SC Law School in 1926. He is also a director in the company which just sold Anaheim city a new piece of equipment called the 'scoop-mo-bile' a picture of which appeared in the Gazette about a week ago. Art Henry, sales manager for Durkee's Famous Foods, has returned to his Berkeley headquarters after spending several days Stanton Youth Group Installs New Leaders The Rev. and Mrs. Charles Washburn of the Stanton Community Church were hosts Wednesday night to ham dinner in their home, 705 Cerritos ave. Assisting Mrs. Washburn in serving the members of Christian Youth Fellowship at Mrs. Fern Vipond and Mrs. Chthia Briggs. At a recent meeting God Yater was elected to head an active group. He succeeds Miser. Other newly elected officers who were among the 25 guards at the dinner were: Max Moore vice president; John Dodge, treurer; Beverly Horton, party chairman; reporter; Barbara Ann pianist; Janet Isbell; song leader Bob Padgett and devotional chasms, Ted Guinn. Rev. White spoke to the group and installed the officers installation climaxed two very successful weeks of work for the pastor. He closed his vacation back school with an enrollment of children, June 30. 230 members viewed the presentation of a gram "God's Garden" and a concentration of work accomplishment during the two weeks study. Prizes were given three groups for memory work of Bible Verses given the children daily study. Jimmy Don Southern was the top man in the beginning class; Sharon White in the print class; Cheryl Ann Walker in junior juniors. Each received a beautiful copy of Bible Story Picture Chuck Sowers was given a special award for bringing the large number of new members, a biography of Gil Dodds, holder world's track record for one mile in athletics. Miss Mary Webb was hostess to a group of friends recently at a bon voyage party held at 838 N. Helena st., honoring Kenneth and Peter Lae of Fullerton, who left for a two months stay in Caracas, Venezuela where they are visiting their parents. A buffet supper was served and the evening was spent in social activities. Attending were: Mr. and Mrs. David Deetz, Edna Roberts, Bob Lombard, Fred Lae, Joan Hall, Roy Lae, Blanche Boiserranc, Jack Henderson, Erold Smith, Mary Cypran, Joe Cyprian, the hostess and honorees. Local Midshipman Participating in Reservist Cruise Aboard the cruiser USS St. Paul, is Midshipman Leroy Earl, Ater, Jr., USNR, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Ater of Route 5, 10211 So. Harbor blvd., Anaheim, a student at the University of Southern California. One of 977 college students from 24 colleges and universities throughout the nation who are participating in the Pacific Division of the annual Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps Senior-Sophomore summer cruise this year, Ater will have an opportunity to visit the Hawaiian Islands. Returning, they will witness and take part in simulated warfare conditions, studying the operations of aircraft units, submarines and surface craft. The cruise is scheduled to terminate at San Francisco, Calif., July 31. Two-Part Charm Mr. and Mrs. Earl Strickland, 114 Elisworth returned from a 3550 mile trip which took them to many points of interest in the United States. Their daughter, Helen, who is a junior in Ananeim High school, accompanied them to Austin, Tex., where they visited their daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Vayden Lake. Miss Strickland remained with her sister and will return in approximately a month or six weeks. Miss Ruth Keyes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert C. Keyes, of 403 E. Sycamore is home from Fullerton hospital where she underwent an appendectomy. It is reported that she is doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Siems of Hanson rd. were hosts to Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Johnson of Long Beach and Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Bradley of Anaheim Tuesday evening at a barbecue dinner. Bill Fogg, seaman first class, DD 717 on the USS Chandler is leaving from San Diego for the Far East area. He has been a member of the Navy for 20 months and has recently been at home visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fogg, 8072 S. Monterey st. Mr. and Mrs. William Burr had a Fourth of July celebration last Tuesday, with a display of fireworks highlighting the evening's activities. Executive Board of Mariners Meets A regular executive board meeting was held by the Marine group of the First Presbytery church in Anaheim Friday, June 30, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Goedell on Evelyn dr., with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wilson assisting in the duties. A baked ham dinner preceded the business meeting of the group which was presided over by Shirley Dave Collins. Included in the business of the evening was a decision that Mr. and Mrs. Colle would attend the national convention of Mariners in Pacific Parks August 9 to 13. Buena Park Tract For 159 Homes Seek County Approval Application of Buena Park Mayor Inc., to create three new six divisions, containing 159 single-family dwellings, on a 58-acre tract northeast of Buena Park, scheduled to go before the county supervisors, yesterday after ready securing approval of county planning commission. The three subdivision sites between the county line, Coyote creek and Hansen street. Fullton regional planning commission also have approved the application. Apples, one of the more important deciduous fruit crops, will among exhibits of Orange county (which has eight acres planted that crop), during the California State Fair, August 31 through September 10.
