And there you have it—picture of a decidedly busy young lady. How does she do it? Good question. Suffice it to say that Lu is a member of the school that figures people can find time to do anything they really like. And Lu really likes raising a family and building a house or baseball. Third Season Lu is now in her with the Lynx. She shortstop in 1948 and has done chores at third as well. As to she has none. "Just the main thing, says pounder. HE JUST WENT FOR A STROLL IN THE DE AND NEVER RETURNED — building a house and playing baseball. Third Season Lu is now in her third season with the Lynx. She started as a shortstop in 1948 and since then has done chores at second and third as well. As to preferences, she has none. "Just to play," is the main thing, says the little 125 pounder. Lu began her baseball career in the WAVES back in 1944, at Livermore Naval Station. There her coach was Cookie Lavagetto, erstwhile third sacker for the Brooklyn Dodgers and now with the Oakland Oaks. She found the game to her liking and kept it up after she was transferred to Honolulu in 1945. And she stayed with it following her discharge in 1946. The trip to Honolulu was actually a trip home for the WAVE SP (S) 3rd class. Lu was born at Kaimuki, a suburb of the big island city. She lived there until she came to California at age 19, a year before she signed with the Navy. The trip to Honolulu also resulted in acquaintance with a naval ensign named Mahoney which eventually led to marriage in 1946. The Mahoneys returned to the mainland in July of 1946. Bud went to USC where he studied ceramics. He graduated in February of this year. Fan and Critic Bud is his wife's most ardent fan and critic. He's all for the Lynx hook up, but just let her performance drop below anticipated par, it gives a family conference. Bud, incidentally, ranks as an athlete in his own right. A member of the 1940 AUHS championship football squad, he receives coach Dick Glover's nod as one of the finest blocking backs who ever donned blue and gold mole-skins. Pat and Mike Mahoney also make up part of their mother's audience on occasion. They don't have many suggestions as yet but give them time. Besides, Mike, for one, currently rates tractors over baseball any day in the week. As for future plans, Lu wants to keep up baseball but ruefully admits that the end is in sight, what with the family and such. She will even go LEGAL NOTICES (Pub. She will even go so far as to say that this year is the last. FRAZIER PARK (P) — Orville Cline, 11, Santa Monica, who weighs 90 pounds, Sunday rescued Darryl Brown, 8; Oxnard, who weighs 110, from Frazier Park lake—without even removing his shoes: "Tain't nothin'," Orville said shyly. Darryl fell from a raft. The first drowning of the season at Long Beach has been recorded. The victim was William H. Louis, 16, of South Gate, whose friend, Robert Beane, Jr., 14, was unable to save him when he was seized with a cramp 200 feet offshore at Alamitos Bay Sunday.
